  1. My decision pretty much followed this same thinking. -My stubby fingers are happier with the extra string spacing mm 4 strings get, Trading the unused top 5 frets of the G string for the much more useful 5 frets from E down to B is more flexible. Semi-tone detunes are a breeze so is drop D, (and obviously B). I can also use a 12 string guitar capo if the tune is mostly played too far away from the D for easy fretting and such. Most things also move closer to me which I appreciate being ex-guitarist... 😉
  2. When I moved to BEAD I spent some time messing around with different strings and guages. With the help of the D'Addario guy that was on here and their tension charts I ended up with 110-90-75-55 D'Addario Chromes (so flats which might not be any good). They play and sound fine even though they are noticeably 'relaxed'.
  3. 🙂 There's no pickup either, but it's not obvious in the photo. I don't use the EMG pickup(s) in either bass as the piezo gives me far more tonal possibilities that I then setup for various sounds using the Helix
  4. After some years of exploring Basschats Basses for Sale Mr Steinberger released the Radius, bought the WAV version, loved it, sold all my other basses and bought a CR... I upgraded the WAV to fretless and other stuff to bring it closer to the CR. Still have a hankering to try Status and ACG though...
  5. Excellent condition, home use only, no scratches or dinks. I'm not using it any more, so I've performed a factory reset and... What else is there to say? I've been a Zoom user since the ZOOM 9002 Advanced Guitar Effects Processor, great products.

  7. I have a hard enough time with learning slap, now I find out I've got to aquire a sordine to patter on... 😭
  8. Musicians eh? 😆 On the bright side you did get informed, and you weren't blamed. They couldn't reaonably expect not to get a reply from you that was a good deal worse than what they did get.
  9. It doesn't take long for the audience taste to change.. 😀
  10. Well this thread has made my year (already!) I thought it was just me, but now it seems I was playing with people who had better that the average memory... Woo Hoo!
  11. Another flats user here - Chromes. I don't know if my Radius qualifies as a p-bass (ought to ask I suppose) into an RCF cab. As I only use the piezo pickup I still have to apply a fair amount of HF cut over 700hz for a non 'zingy' sound. The strings are 2.5 years old.

    What to do...

If the Helix gives you the sound you want, even if it's just one sound, then I would stay with it. There is a lot more you might end up wanting to do in the future; different sound for monitoring, or your vocals, controlling other bits of kit, recording, re-amping, etc and dozens more I'm sure, and the unit will almost certainly cope. Plus it's a sunk cost.
  13. Looks like it would just be me for 'piezo' then... I haven't used a magnetic pickup for some years now. I daren't in case I suddenly realise that it's all been a terrible mistake!!
  14. Honey I Shrank The Zoom !!? 🙂
  15. Good in the HF, but alas no heft 😉

  17. I too use Chromes on both my basses, fretted and fretless. I tried Pyramid Gold FWs for a while, I found them very similar to Chromes.
  18. I''ve always used Alpine MusicSafe Pro
