1. Reading this thread it was not clear to me that the FX software (be it Bias or something else) was not running on the PC that was the music source and shouldn't because of latency. It's been a while since I was doing this kind of thing so I was wondering if the latency issue had somehow been solved. From what I have found it seems not though? Wouldn't a really minimalist system would be a Zoom B3 (or similar) with an iPad into the aux, a bass, and headphones for monitoring?
Oh and my suggestion for active speakers for bass guitar - unless you have a decent budget, 5" speakers are 'ok' but not that great. 6" if you can but the 8" will sound bigger and deeper. (The whole physical box will be bigger for a better sound etc etc etc)
I'll also add my +1 to this - 8" does seem to be the tipping point
 2. Music hosting biz SoundCloud, having just axed 40 per cent of its staff, is now trying to ward off rumors that it will go broke in less than two months. The song-sharing service was rumored to be in crisis mode and had to shut its doors, with just 50 days of funding left before it ran out of cash. A spokesperson insisted Thursday, however, that this is not the case, and that following last week's layoffs, SoundCloud is going to be able to turn a profit soon. "To clarify, SoundCloud is fully funded into the fourth quarter," the spokesperson told El Reg. "We continue to be confident the changes made last week put us on our path to profitability and ensure SoundCloud's long-term viability." 4. I am selling this 2U rack shelf. It is intended for an RH750, but I'm sure it would be easy enough to drill some holes to suit pretty much anything. http://www.tcelectronic.com/rh750-rh450-rack-mount/ I'm only selling this as I no longer have the amplifier I was using it with. The rack adapter has not been used at all - only came out of its box for the photos! Delivery to mainland UK £10
