1.
They were very close but I used a bit of 240 grit paper around my finger to ream out the holes a bit. It only took about two minutes a hole of gentle sanding. Two of the screw holes match, the other two are close but not quite so I drilled a tiny pilot hole and screwed the other two in. No holes can be seen and if you put the old tuners back on no-one will be any the wiser.
Ah, nice one. I had to do the same when I got my Mighty Mite neck for my bitsa P. This is becoming ever more tempting! Cheers!
2.
Yes, absolutely. Mine's got Hipshots, Hot Rod (Wizard) '74s, replacement loom, new bridge and a proper fret job. It's good enough to have a career with.
Hi Sean, did the hipshots just drop right in, or was there a bit more to it than that?
3.
Or you could think more seriously before Christmas
No! Stop, don't tempt me! I've got a Tokai to get rid of before anything else comes in.
4. Bumping this up! It is still for sale, I've had a little local interest but nothing confirmed yet. I am open to trades and offers, so hit me with whatever you've got. Postage is an option once a suitable box has been sourced. Every time I go past my local halfords I check, but they're either no good or they've been collected so do bear with me. Price is still £180 and you're more than welcome to come try it out or collect, just drop me a message and we'll chat. Cheers!
5. Quite glad I stumbled across this thread! I've been thinking about a jazz, and that surf green is absolutely lovely! Might have to think more seriously after Christmas Glad you've got yourselves some lovely examples!
6. I've seen a few people using the EHX Small Clone, and it sounds pretty good actually. Doesn't have a great deal of tweakability from what I've gathered though.
7. I see what you mean, I can imagine that would be quite a pain. As it stands I'm the only one using any kind of modulation, so we're safe for now. 'Tis a shame you can't sync them though, I reckon that'd be pretty cool.
8. I have seen the light! So last night I had a gig, and tried out my pedalboard for the first time in a proper situation and it was great! I didn't use the chorus once though. Then, today at practice we tried some new tracks out, and on one of them I combined my new reverb pedal with my chorus pedal, and the sound was absolutely perfect! Throw in a little overdrive in the chorus and it was spot on! Very much impressed. Chorus works and shall stay on my board. Just need one with true bypass though! Haha.
9. This is so cool. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
10. This has been my amp/cab setup since 2011, and it's muchos powerful. More than I need for the gigs we play, but it's always nice to feel yourself vibrating across the stage, no matter how small. Pictured here with my bitsa Precision, and pear cider. All that's missing is my pedalboard. Must get a full rig picture soon!
11. It was a sad day when mine had to go. If it weren't for the lack of space and need I'd have hung onto it for years. Good luck with the sale. Hope someone snaps these up!
12. Cheers guys, It's good to know it actually has some uses. I've no intention of using it to thicken the sound, I just thought it might enhance paticular parts of a song, etc. I paid £7 so it's no loss if it ends up going. I'll keep having a play, see if I can get a useable sound out of it, and if not I'll gain a space back on my board. Cheers!
13. Hello! I've got chorus pedal, only a cheap Behringer unit. It's a bit naff, and tends to still colour the signal when it's deactivated. Regardless, my question is what do you guys use chorus for? I met a guy at a gig recently who said he uses chorus to thicken the sound since they only had the one guitarist. I want to know really, what I could actually be using the effect for, because if I don't really have a use for it, I can save a space on my board for something else. Cheers! Anthony.
14. I've just got my hands on an Ashdown bass drive plus. It's a really nice unit actually. It goes way into proper distortion, but I've found a really nice sounding low gain drive sound which works great with my amp. It's got plenty of controls on it to tweak, if you're looking for something simple it's perhaps not the best. Nor is it in terms of size, but it may be worth having a play.
15. I did a 4 string bitsa Precision that came in around £330ish. Could have saved more if I didn't buy some of that parts new. Like people have said, it's a waiting game. The right parts will come up eventually, and being a student myself I know what you mean with the money. And a parts build is appealing. Personally, I wish I had bought a Squier and modded it over time, but building was fun and I got a good result. Sup to you though. It all depends what you want to get out of it I guess. Modding will be fun, as will building. But price is always a deciding factor.
16. I love the FCH bridge. I have one on my precision and it's great. I think I'd like to grab a white Epiphone pro, and stick one of those bridges on it, as you say, when they become available. I really like the thunderbird shape, but I'm yet to find one I can get along with.
17. I don't own one, but I imagine you'll get a lot of recommendations for the Zoom B3.
18. Just bought a pedal from George. Great communication, got the pedal to me quickly and well packaged. Can't fault anything!
19. So many cool boards in here! Here's my contribution I've got a Mooer Shimverb yet to go on, but I don't think there will be room for my Ditto looper, so I'll likely be leaving that out. The chorus is more of a temporary thing, since I'm not sure if I actually like it, and/or have a real need for it. I'd rather have a nice delay in there I think. I don't know, we'll see. I bit the bullet and went for some of that fancy 3m Dual Lock. At £7ish per metre, I was banking on it being really good stuff. Honestly can't fault it though. Those pedals are on there! I'm yet to get a power supply sorted, but im thinking either just grabbing a one-spot for now, or that Diago powerstation doo-dad. Hopefully the latter will fit underneath, but we'll see. Everything is nice and neat though, all straight and connected nicely. Can't wait to get this thing to a practice session and see how it goes. I'm really liking the Ashdown with a subtle bit of drive plugged into my BH500. I've getting closer to the sound I want, which is great. I just hope it still works with the band! Cheers!
20. Would love to hear how you get on too. I'm thinking of coming down from a 4x10, and 2x12 might be the way to go. Enjoy it!
21. Cheers guys! Might be worth dropping him a message in the future...
22. Can somebody fill me in on what this is actually all about? These all look so nice. Are they custom builds, or made from parts? I'm confused!
23.
Thanks. It's that good even my girlfriend has started playing bass!
Coincidentally, my Precision build had exactly the same effect! Enjoy it!
24. Must say I've have no problems with my mini 2 noir. I'm using a Precision with quarter pounders. Works with both pick and fingers. As mentioned, maybe you just have a bit of a funny one. Would be worth asking TC to see if they know what's going on.
