1. I'll third the recommendations for mighty mite necks. I used one for my bitsa P, and it's the most comfortable neck I've ever played. Granted that's not out of a lot, but even still. Bought mine from the same seller linked above back in March.
2. I've been using a WM clone with Quarter Pounders in my Precision. Seems fine to me. Can get a bit crazy when you start turning up the wool control, but I imagine it does that on any bass.
3. Very, very smart indeed. Good job sir!
4. Aren't the Hagstrom Vikings medium scale?
5. Spent ages walking back and forth to Halfords to find a decent box. The guy was nice enough to say I could just go behind the store and fetch one whenever I wanted, but every time I went they'd either been collected, rained on or just weren't any there. So I decided to nip into Musicroom instead, and the guy I spoke to in there was actually more than willing to let me take boxes of his hands. He even gave me tips on packaging. Nice chap. I'll totally agree though, it's worth the extra effort to post something. You're way more likely to get a sale. Not everyone is willing to drive x number of miles to pick something up that they may want to then sell on themselves a few weeks later. Anyway, people of Lincoln. If you need any big shipping boxes, it's always worth asking. You never know I guess. I didn't expect them to have anything, or if they did I wasn't too sure they'd be willing to give them to me, but if you don't ask you don't get.
6. Here's mine, all done for now. (please excuse the dust. It was clean before rehearsal, honest!) I still want to replace the chorus, but it'll do for the time being. I've since tidied up all the wires, and fixed the output jack on the Ashdown. Did a gig the other week, and it kept cutting out. Needless to say it was a little embarrassing having to keep bending over and tapping on the patch lead to get my signal back. Very happy with it though. It's got everything I need on it, so pedalwise I think I'm done shopping. Cheers!
7. Looks absolutely lovely. Shame you don't get on with the guard, I love the gold ones! Enjoy it
8. Aha, not to worry. 'Twas a nice gesture all the same.
9. I tend to buy the more expensive packs of strings from the USA since they work out cheaper, and I've never been hit with charges. Never bought anything more expensive. Been eyeing up some hipshot tuners, which mention nothing of charges, but you never know. It's a bit of a risk. My computer monitor (not a bass, I know) came from South Korea, and on the door they hit me with the import charge. It just depends I guess. But if still works out cheaper, even with the import charges, etc. I say go for it. You may still not have to pay extra.
10.
Don't worry, I can help you. Just email Mark and order it.
Do you think he'd mind if I emailed him to get a quote? Maybe chat about it. Could always go from there...
11. I am seriously considering dropping him a message to see if he can sort me a '58 P, very lightly relic'd. Internal conflict. Help.
12.
I'm doing up a squier guitar for my brother in those colours. He's bought everything. Got Molotov paint, never used it but relatively cheap compared to nitro.
Ah, nice one! Would love to see it when it's finished. Not making any definite plans for mine until around New Years time
13. Thanks guys! Now that I'm done faffing with my pedalboard, I've started pondering on the respray. I have a few ideas, but as it stands I think this is where I'm heading... I was thinking just going straight black, but I still wanted something a little different. Purple is my favourite colour, so I'm I think it's time I got myself a purple bass. I thought about matching the headstock, but with the maple fretboard it just doesn't look right at all. I'd like to get a finish very similar to that of the Nate Mendal P bass, not too glossy, but not too dull. Any ideas what the best way to achieve that would be? I'm thinking nitrocellulose, that way it should relic nicely on its own. (I think!) I am planning on stripping back the body altogether, but I've been thinking about just picking up a blank one, to save the hassle. But that's pennies I don't really have! Cheers!
14. Still for sale! Come ooooooooon, you know you want it
15.
Can't beat these with black hardware. Nice bass Mark88mph. I've gone little further with mine. Pickups now changed to Duncan STacked Jazz bridge and SPB-1 neck. And my graphite Status neck just looks sooooo good on it.
That is gorgeous.
16. Ooh, that turned out great! I'm reeeeeeeally considering buying one now, but keeping the chrome and going for some nice tort for the pickguard...
17. Do I really need another excuse to post a picture of mine? My Bitsa P, made from a Squier body and a Mighty Mite neck. Quarter Pounders and a Babicz bridge. I absolutely love this bass. Gold and blue just works for some reason.
18.
Sweet! Always nice to see some love for the BH500!
Cheers! It's been doing the job for the past 3 years and it's never let me down, so I honeslty can't see it going anywhere any time soon. Just want a couple of BC212s to go underneath it and I'm set.
19.
Optimum number of basses is always n+1 where n is the number of basses you currently own.
This. Just wish they were as easy to get into the house as pedals!
