1. Nice one! Thanks! So that would also mean one could have both of them, and a tiny switch between the pots, yes? Looks like there's space enough for one. Correct? best, bert
2.
HEY! First in! Woo.
Only coz I type slowly! (and too much) Great pic! best, bert
3. Hey Paul (can I call you Paul?) Welcome to BC. Yup, you'll fit right in. Sliding pup? Yes, love it. Roughly 4,628 sweet spots between bridge and neck. Enjoy the site! best, bert
4. Hi Carl, Welcome to BC! As you may know, the Laneys are wonders with Eminences and new cases. Likewise I have a fantastic axe (the wood chopping device in this case) after my granddad... Enjoy the forum! best, bert (Yes, my father only ever put in a new handle, and I just shifted the blade. FANTASTIC axe!)
5. Hi Permafunk, Welcome to the surface then! Let's call it even. I completely missed your randomly posted ads. best, bert
6. Love that sound. Could survive on it. Some damn fine tonemachineheads! best, bert
7.
What's good about them that I should know?
Have no idea. What I do know though is they're available everywhere and seem consistent. Also, I keep getting them recommended by all kinds of sources, and this has lasted for almost 40 years. Might there be an element of D'Addario doing well for both nylon and metals and for different styles of axes? I have no idea, mind. It's just a thought. best, bert
8. Sorry, but sadly I have to admit I liked it very, very much. You can't choose yer audience, see? Got me dreaming of playing such bass on such tracks in the future. Thanks for posting! BTW, bought 5 songs on iTunes, but can't find the two free downloads on your website. Removed maybe? Me blind maybe? Best of luck with the band! In In Tyler We Trust I Trust. best, bert
9. Hi Rex, Welcome to BC. Mois je Suisse Aussie Pampelmaus, or something. Me, I started bassing with an AXL P-copy just last october. Then a bug bit me, and look what happened. I wish upon you a Genz-Benz Shuttle and some Barefaced cabs. And a Bongo! Enjoy the chat! best, bert

Hi

Hi Matt, Welcome to BC. Yes, it's a good place to hang out. I vouch that there's no sham in Chris's plug. Go for it! Enjoy the site! best, bert
11. Well, I started early and am old now, so it gets to be quite a few. Lemme calculate... ... Wow! Literally dozens! Plus depping for a bassist once or twice. best, bert
12.
I wonder if you can make a bass out of a ring tailed lemur.
Yes, but they're only made for 24-tone music, due to the spacing of the fret lining. Me, I'm into punk, and hence use a beagle short scale. best, bert
13. Hey Kingysilvers, A belated welcome to BC! Enjoy the banter, and be a part of it if you please. Beware: friendliness and humour may cross your path. best, bert
14. The one thing that scares me about your situation is the pressure on your biking. Here's my experience with stuff like that: When I was doing alright, I was active from 7 to 23 o' clock, most often starting the day with a good paddling, and opening the shop afterwards. Sadly not everyone can decide over their time like that, but the point is I was active all day and having a blast at the same time. Though my music suffered badly during that period. Quitting my daily paddling because of job pressure is what did me in, and I'm now heavily depressed and unable to attend my business well, and must concentrate on just regaining my health. Long story short: this thing has also cost me my wife and my house. My take, of course: whatever you do, do not compromise as to your biking. Biking will more likely give you the joy and the energy you need to be able to manage the rest of your day, including the band. Best of luck! bert
15.
I'm surprised no one has made an FX pedal with a "ripped speaker" setting yet.
Wow! Great idea! Calling Hugh McKenna! Calling Hugh McKenna! Can Mr. Hugh McKenna build a Myrtle Ripped Cone, please?
16.
reasonable approximation of the JJ sound
Wow! That was one great read. Dunno why, but my ears were all red listening to you explain this. For the fun of it, I'll see what I can do with the Zoom while using your recipe. If it doesn't work, I'll just put a boot in the MAG, a boot in the Zoom, and a boot in the B2B. Must work. Thanks! best, bert

hi

Hi Chuffer, Welcome to BC. Rock = good Funk = good Yes, you're OK. Enjoy the site! best, bert
18.
I reckon the tonal difference between the Ibby and the Yam would be so small as to be almost indistinguishable to your tired ears.
HEY! Giving him what he asks for is not the same as giving him what he needs! Show some responsibility, man! best, bert
19.
why am I thinking a Blazer would do it any better?
Because you're a logical, self-sufficient person. If the Yammies were any better, Ibanez wouldn't have made the Blazer of course. That would not be logical. Get the Blazer! blaze, bert
20. Thanks for bringing them up! Had nearly forgotten Imperial Drag. *fetches spilt milk from ex's flat, buys ID. best, bert
21. Yup, when I depped for one long ago. Me: No, I'm not really a bassist. Just learned where to put my fingers for these songs. He: Did you hold a bass? Did you make sound? Then you're a bassist. Bad definition if you ask me. But fun. best, bassist-bert
22.
Many thanks Chris and Roland Rock
sh*t! Another one from Cambridge! So do you mean: Chris Rock, and Roland Rock or Roland Rock, and Chris ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I hate it when people can't even be bothered to get their education from Oxford. best, bert
23. Hi, good Doctor, Welcome to BC! You might find what you're after here, but I'm not sure. Haven't dug deeply yet. At any rate, you'll find thousands of people with formal music educations (IOW people like me) as well as thousands of people who hardly can play three different root notes on bass (IOW people like me). Enjoy! ...and share some wisdom please. best, bert
24.
last week the cat was sick on it
Yeah, but still... it was tonevomit.
25. A chap called Steve Hahn plays the Stick simultaneously with the trumpet, and does it well. The trumpet is in a rig of course, and he's invented a pedal system for controlling the valves. Me, as a renowned multi-instrumentalist, I've been known to play a Moog with my left hand and an ARP with my right hand. No less! Seriously though, I've not had double roles, with one exception where my feet played organ pedals, my right hand synth or el.piano, and my left hand the flute. Of course the flute parts were specially written for this to work, and my sister played the other flute parts with two hands. best, bert
