1. Thanks for all the love, folks. Vintage bump.
 2. I played a Grosh in The Gallery a year or two back. Beautifully made, with great substance to the feel and sound. A fantastic instrument, good luck with the sale.
 3.
how many amps?
I've never counted, but nothing like that figure! At the moment I have one amp, and one 410. Amps are never the problem, in my experience...
 4. For sale is my Steinberger XT-25 5-string. Home use only, completely unmarked. An extra strap button has been added. Not a 'real' Steinberger, being of all wood construction, but a great headless 5 for the money nonetheless. Complete with gig bag, instructions, lead and sticker! NOW SOLD, pending the usual. 5. For sale is my Epiphone Zenith bass, in excellent condition. It has a piezo pickup under the bridge, a magnetic pickup at the neck, volume, pan, two band eq for each pickup, with mono and stereo outputs, creating a huge variety of tones. It plays beautifully, and recently had a fret stone and a setup at The Gallery. Despite the appearance of the f-holes, it's a solid and substantial bass. NOW SOLD. Thanks for all the interest.
 6. For sale is my Yamaha SB55, built between 1973 and 1976, in extraordinary condition for its age. All original, apart from the back of the neck having been re-varnished at some point. No visible fret wear. The not so good bits, for the purposes of full disclosure: there is a dink in the tip of the headstock, a small crack in the finish in the rear of the lower horn, a couple of small marks on the edge below the controls, and a little pitting in the finish along the back edge near the end strap button. Still in great condition for a 40-year-old bass! [s]The thumb rest is missing, but could easily be replaced.[/s] I have now bought a replacement thumb rest. Plays beautifully, really slim at the nut, with a clear, resonant tone. These were quality instruments, easily rivalling any American made jazz basses of the same era, and this model is rare, having been made for such a short time. £575. Sorry, but I'm not looking for any trades. 7. ...or how about a Lakland 55-02 or 55-94? I've also got a DJ5 and the neck seems to sit 'out' more than the other two, although they're all 35" scale. As far as being a bass tart, you've got a long way to go! I have a file on my computer where I list all the basses I've owned over the years. I've been playing a very long time, but it's currently up to 89....
 8. My 2000 USA 55-94 just returned from The Gallery after the fret job and the addition of a cream pearl plate... it had its first outing on Friday and it was everything I hoped it would be. 9. Looks like he came to his senses and kept it, unless someone offered him a suitable amount off eBay...
 10.
As a little update to this... Ebay have said that they would refund me what I paid for customs etc (i.e. the "y" mentioned above), although I am still waiting for this to arrive after a week. At this moment, the seller refunded me x + y, Ebay will refund me y, I have the vase in a cupboard awaiting Ebay's refund (which will cover postage costs back to the US) and the seller has said she is willing to send me the jeans anyway. She will not be using the Global Postage Programme again.
Good news, well almost! Just out of interest, is it a nice vase?
 11.
Inadequate shielding on the pickups? Is it an active bass?
Nope, tried a variety of active and passive basses, all sounded the same....
 12.
Just out of interest, why did you get the Stageclix? Not that there is anything wrong with it, just trying to understand why people choose what they choose. For example, for me, not having the ability to put new batteries in would be a big no for me. If it all turns into a nightmare, sack it off and get a Sony DWZB30GB,
I liked the fact you could charge the belt pack in the main unit, and it seemed very light, compact, and simple to use. And it was all of those things, but I didn't like the sound! I almost bought the Sony - if I can get the seller to refund me, I will
 13.
Doesn't sound right to me... all my digital systems are super quiet - as in faultless transmission, no fizz or anything.
Thanks, I thought as much. I've finally received an acknowledgment email from StageClix... on the third attempt. Hopefully I should get some sort of response from their 'Technical Team' in the next few days. I'll post when I do....
 14. I just bought a StageClix Pack system, and although the overall sound quality is good, there is an audible 'fizz' behind the sound when I play my basses through it. It's not present when I stop playing (when no audio signal is being sent). I have adjusted the outputs of the different basses I've used to ensure the transmitter or receiver aren't being overdriven, but the fizzing sound persists. When I use a cable, the sound isn't there, which would eliminate the amp or cabinet. I use an EBS TD650 and EBS Proline 410 cabinets. I have tried a variety of active and passive basses, but there is no difference. It's not excessively loud, and in a live setting it probably wouldn't be too noticeable, but it's still irritating. Is this normal, i.e. some sort of background carrier signal, or is the unit faulty and should I return it to the supplier?
 15.
I cannot believe this has not sold! 550 is an f ING steal! Take it on the weekly mate?
If I did, I'd never hear the end of it from the missus! Ah, those were the days... buying stuff from the 'Clubbie Book'. Do any firms still do that?
 16. Final reduction to a frankly ludicrous £550 plus shipping...
 17.
we did forget to put the drip tray down under the drummer one night so it could have been some of the splashback i guess
Hmm, I see. Sniff your strings. If there's vague whiff of Hai Karate or Censored, it's the keyboard player. If there's a strong smell of Vick's Vapour Rub, it's the drummer.
 18.
is it just me or does anybody else see any difference regards steel v nickel strings?? i am only a recent convert to nickels but have noticed that particularly if you leave a bass unplayed for any length of time that the nickel strings develope a strange sort of tacky sensation that i dont seem to get with steels
It's hair gel condensing on your strings from standing too close to the keyboard player, simple as that. Keep your distance, no more sticky strings, I guarantee it.
 19. Chris came down all the way from Wakefield to buy my SR5. Excellent communication, a very nice guy, and a great player as well. Buy/sell/trade with confidence. Thanks Chris!
 20.
Yes i understand now but they are just copies of the 1960s VOX Teardrop and Phantom basses.
I was forced to use an original 60's Teardrop at an impromptu gig once... it was hideous to behold, and even worse to play... something I'd managed to push it to the back of my mind.... now I'll need more therapy to deal with the unleashed repressed memories...
 21.
You don't need an amp, or a drummer. what's not to like?
No drummer? Who am I going to hang out with??
 22.
These have been around for a couple of years now and can't see what's hideous about them at all. Perhaps you can tell us why you find it hideous?
Ugly. UG-LEE. Not aesthetically pleasing, to my eyes at least. Yet the concept - a bass with a built-in drum machine, and its own internal speaker, I find attractive. What can I say, I'm torn!
 23. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOX-APACHE1B-SR-4String-Travel-Bass-Guitars-with-BuiltIn-Amplifier-and-Rhythms-/121262433456 Hideous, and yet strangely alluring...
 24. http://www.ebay.co.u...H-/131102053851 Not a leftie myself, but rather nice all the same...
 25.
Funnily enough Numan then fell out with Pino , which is why Joe Hubbard got the call for Numans warriors album. Joe Hubbard says in an interview on Scott Devines bass site he fell out with Numan and ran into Pino and asked Pino why he recommended him to Numan "I didn't ,that's the last gig on earth I would've recommended you for " Numan must be a tough guy to work for.
Either that, or Pino and Joe Hubbard didn't get on....
