1. Hang on... this all sounds strangely familiar... it's Vim Fuego...
2. Bought Shemeck's Sandberg P5. Met at services on the M25, had a great chat, and did the deal there and then. I was on the way to a gig, and I played the Sandberg for the whole night! Great guy, great bass, buy/sell/trade with complete confidence. Thanks Shemeck!
3. Thanks you sir! Still for sale, however...
4.
Nice! Haden't seen one of these before- what year was it made?
According to Lakland's serial number lists, this one was made in 2002. I think they only made this model for a couple of years - not sure whether they just weren't popular, or perhaps Ernie Ball leant on them to 'cease and desist', but they're very hard to find. I've owned several Laklands over the years, and I'd never even heard of them until fairly recently. I found an article online from a few years back suggesting EBMM were gauging interest in a wide spacing Stingray 5, or 'SLO Special 5', but when I contacted EB they said they needed 125 pre-orders to go ahead with the run, and only got 3! The No Treble article is here: http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/07/01/ernie-ball-offers-test-run-of-music-man-stingray-5-string-bass-with-19mm-spacing/ Spacing on a standard Stingray 5 is 17.5mm, but that extra 1.5mm makes a lot of difference, for me anyway.
5. Here's a recent acquisition, a very rare USA Lakland 55-76... possibly the Holy Grail for a Stingray 5 fan who wants 19mm string spacing... that'll be me then! Custom scratch plate added by Martin at The Gallery. Plays like a dream, sounds phenomenal, light as a feather, but still balances beautifully. 6.
I have a new 55-02 for a couple of Days now and Man, that is an awesome Bass. This brandnew Bass was for Trade, so I offered mine as a Trade Object, but the Owner didn't like my offered Bass. So I offered my Bass in another Board as a Trade Object. Someone offered me a Spector Euro 5LX. I traded my Bass against the Spector and then the Spector (wich was not really my Cup of Tea) against the Lakland Hope you like it.
Very nice!!
7.
Is this the first Dimension FS on BC? GLWTS...
No, I bought it from Harry, so it has been on here before, but it's the same bass, so... yes!
8. Bought an EBS Proline 210 from Freddie - lovely guy to deal with, buy/sell/trade with confidence!
9.
I played one of these a while back and thought it sounded really good. How heavy is this one Dave, and what's the balance like?
It balances well, no neck dive, and using the time-honoured 'weigh myself, weigh myself holding bass, subtract one from the other' method, it comes in at 4.4kg. so not too weighty at all. Can I tempt you, Gareth??
10. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Cliff Burton, John Taylor or Jack Bruce, Haircut 100, Freeez, or one of the other myriad bands back in the day that used this fantastic bass, now's your chance!
11.
nice ! and JE preamp makes it more then worth it
Thank you sir, you are most kind!
12. I'm not really a P-bass man Rainer, but that's lovely....
13. For sale is a MIM Fender Dimension 5 string in natural, fitted with a John East MM 3-band preamp. The original Fender preamp is also included. Apart from some swirling on the scratch plate, the bass is in as-new condition. Just fitted with a new set of D'Addario EXL170's, and set up with a nice low action. Lovely to play, and sounds great, but I need to make some room for a new arrival, so it has to go! :-) Comes with a good quality Levy's gig bag. NOW SOLD.
14. For sale is an Aria SB1000, an early one, serial number 0100xx, built in 1980, signified by the words 'The Aria Pro II' on the headstock. Later ones just have 'Aria Pro II'. Bought on a nostalgic whim a few months ago (I had an SB900 back in the 80's) but sadly the 16mm string spacing is just a bit too tight for my gorilla mitts these days! A few marks here and there, and it's lost a bit of lacquer on the bottom edge as shown in the photos, but other than that in really excellent condition for its age. All the electrics work well and quietly, and the frets are in good shape, with minimal wear. Straight neck, and the truss rod works. It balances beautifully, plays really well, and sounds great. It's just been fitted with a new set of D'Addario nickels. It comes with a hard case, a little worn, but perfectly serviceable. Also included is a brand new contemporary replacement 'Noisekiller' preamp module, manufactured by a Finnish company. I thought after so many years the original module might be starting to show its age, but having tried them both, they sound equally good. The original is currently fitted, but it's a 5-minute job to change them over, it just plugs into a multi-pin connector in the control cavity. NOW SOLD.
15.
Eventually managed to get a response from Line6 after I rang them again - my emails to them had gone into a spam folder. They finally took the order over the phone, then were going to get Kay from accounts to get my details for payment. I chased them up again the next week and they said they'd send it out to me FOC due to all the delays. That was a week ago and it has yet to surface.
Boo. Not much better customer service than StageClix then.
16. I bought Tony's 'spare' Epifunky 210 cab, and he was incredibly helpful, even arranging for delivery on a day of my choice! Great cab, great guy to deal with. Thanks!
17. Another +1 for Interparcel. The missus takes it to her workplace and they pick up from there, you can even stipulate the hours of collection. Even on their own standard service they offer increased insurance cover (although thankfully I've never had to claim on it, so I can't say how good it is) and I've sent basses to Holland and Belgium recently with no drama.
18. René just bought my Lakland 55-02, and was great to deal with, even taking the time to call me from the Netherlands to chat about the details! A straightforward, honest guy - buy/sell/trade with complete confidence. Thanks René!
19. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLAYSTATION-3-Guitar-Fender-Precision-Bass-Guitar-Original-/281291902063 Call me an old fuddy duddy, and I know they would just get in the way and are a mere detail, but some strings and a bridge wouldn't have gone amiss, just for appearances sake. They seem to have taken the time to bother with the machine heads... makes me feel ancient FFS...
