Dropped in to see Harry today to relieve him of a rather nice 5-string. A sound bloke, had a good chat. Buy/sell/trade with confidence. Thanks Harry!

Wireless Systems for Bass
Enjoy the Sony, I am sure it will work perfectly for you without the slightest glitch. I've been very impressed with it... and I'm uber critical on the performance of my wireless systems. I run a ULX-D also - and to be honest, for what you want it for, they are neck and neck.
Good to know, seeing as there's quite a price difference! I really liked your band's showreel, by the way - sounds and looks great -
Wireless Systems for Bass

As a footnote, I also now have the Sony system. Very happy with it - thanks to EBS freak for the general advice and guidance! I would also enter a note of caution regarding StageClix. I still don't know if it was a fault with the unit, or me being too critical, but it took 3 emails over almost 2 weeks to get any response from StageClix themselves, and that was only to say they had passed my query on to their 'technical team'. A few days later I got another email asking if I could send them a recording of the sound. By that time I had returned the whole kit to the seller, who refunded the full purchase price without quibbling. Very poor manufacturer support, the result of which is I won't be buying their products again. -

Ilian bought my Yamaha Compass, and was a pleasure to deal with - immediate payment once a price was agreed, and excellent communication throughout. Deal with confidence!

His book 'Eminent Hipsters' is a good read too, and quite witty with it.

For sale is a Lakland 55-94, quite an early one, made in 2000, in a beautiful deep gloss black. It has an ebony fingerboard, Bartolini pickups and preamp, and is in extraordinary condition for its age. I'm only the second owner, and I imported it from the States in January. I honestly think the original owner just looked at it, which you can't really blame him for - it's hardly been played, and as such is almost totally unmarked. It has a removable cream pearl scratch plate, courtesy of The Gallery, who also fretted it - it started life as a lined fretless. These earlier examples of the 55-94 have a big, fat, creamy tone, and it's a dream to play. It's an absolutely fabulous bass, but I have to... what's that horrible word... downsize, due to unforeseen circumstances. Comes complete with a cream G&G case. I'm looking for a sale only, so sorry, but no trade offers please. NOW SOLD.

I'm guessing it's exactly the same preamp, just with a Lakland plate. £10 more, though! The DJ5s are great basses anyway, but the East pre transformed mine tonally. Really worth the money.

The East J-Retro is fantastic, and an easy fit - no soldering involved. It comes fitted on a plate, and just drops straight in, you connect the pickups and away you go. All you need is a small flat-tip screwdriver.
Not sure that is the same Karen Lawrence? The one I have in mind fronts(or fronted) Blue by Nature, sort of country-style blues band. Thinking about it, she is unlikely to be in a kitchen anywhere in England, and is probably 10 years too young, but certainly got the pipes to qualify. Without wishing to hijack the thread, here is Ms Lawrence swaying her hips rather interestingly and generally giving it some welly.
By jove, that young lady can sing and no mistake, and has certainly got something about her..... in fact her gyrations seem to have brought about a case of the Tim Henmans..... -

There's another issue here nobody seems to have picked up on... those are clearly very old photos of Penelope Keith. I expect she was in a bit of a tight spot after they cancelled 'To The Manor Born'. I bet the guitar's not even hers.
You mean it's not birsdeye maple?
...birdsh*te maple perhaps... seriously though, they're great basses, but a 10-minute polish-up would make a world of difference. I'm up in London tomorrow - I'm tempted to message him and volunteer to drop by and clean it!
I must admit that I'd not heard of Jenny Haan or Babe Ruth Band, so have done some Googling - wow, what a top band, and a front person with a powerful presence and voice and unique style. What a great kitchen find! I'm just imagining how excited you are at the moment. Here's one of my favourites so far: http://youtu.be/jad9YFROKuw
Great performance. It did look like only the lead vocals were live, though - the guitar solo and percussion/BVs weren't exactly in sync. Interesting typo in the end credits too - unless there was an artist in the 70's called 'Bonnie Raith'??
