1. I bought Tony's 'spare' Epifunky 210 cab, and he was incredibly helpful, even arranging for delivery on a day of my choice! Great cab, great guy to deal with. Thanks!
2. Another +1 for Interparcel. The missus takes it to her workplace and they pick up from there, you can even stipulate the hours of collection. Even on their own standard service they offer increased insurance cover (although thankfully I've never had to claim on it, so I can't say how good it is) and I've sent basses to Holland and Belgium recently with no drama.
3. René just bought my Lakland 55-02, and was great to deal with, even taking the time to call me from the Netherlands to chat about the details! A straightforward, honest guy - buy/sell/trade with complete confidence. Thanks René!
4. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLAYSTATION-3-Guitar-Fender-Precision-Bass-Guitar-Original-/281291902063 Call me an old fuddy duddy, and I know they would just get in the way and are a mere detail, but some strings and a bridge wouldn't have gone amiss, just for appearances sake. They seem to have taken the time to bother with the machine heads... makes me feel ancient FFS...
5. Dropped in to see Harry today to relieve him of a rather nice 5-string. A sound bloke, had a good chat. Buy/sell/trade with confidence. Thanks Harry!
6.
Sigh ... I so wish you'd left that as fretless.
Ah, well then I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Martin could always de-fret it for you again...
7. Still here, but may end up on EvilBay shortly if there are no takers...
8. It's a filthy habit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CIgar-Box-Bass-/291103819152
9.
Enjoy the Sony, I am sure it will work perfectly for you without the slightest glitch. I've been very impressed with it... and I'm uber critical on the performance of my wireless systems. I run a ULX-D also - and to be honest, for what you want it for, they are neck and neck.
Good to know, seeing as there's quite a price difference! I really liked your band's showreel, by the way - sounds and looks great
10. As a footnote, I also now have the Sony system. Very happy with it - thanks to EBS freak for the general advice and guidance! I would also enter a note of caution regarding StageClix. I still don't know if it was a fault with the unit, or me being too critical, but it took 3 emails over almost 2 weeks to get any response from StageClix themselves, and that was only to say they had passed my query on to their 'technical team'. A few days later I got another email asking if I could send them a recording of the sound. By that time I had returned the whole kit to the seller, who refunded the full purchase price without quibbling. Very poor manufacturer support, the result of which is I won't be buying their products again.
11.
Lack of vibrancy and general spark
Jeez. I wish I lacked vibrancy and spark as much as he does.
12.
Now if you had a 5502 maple neck. I would be up for that.
I did - but I sold it!
13. No love for a USA Lakland??
14. Ilian bought my Yamaha Compass, and was a pleasure to deal with - immediate payment once a price was agreed, and excellent communication throughout. Deal with confidence!
15. His book 'Eminent Hipsters' is a good read too, and quite witty with it.
16. For sale is a Lakland 55-94, quite an early one, made in 2000, in a beautiful deep gloss black. It has an ebony fingerboard, Bartolini pickups and preamp, and is in extraordinary condition for its age. I'm only the second owner, and I imported it from the States in January. I honestly think the original owner just looked at it, which you can't really blame him for - it's hardly been played, and as such is almost totally unmarked. It has a removable cream pearl scratch plate, courtesy of The Gallery, who also fretted it - it started life as a lined fretless. These earlier examples of the 55-94 have a big, fat, creamy tone, and it's a dream to play. It's an absolutely fabulous bass, but I have to... what's that horrible word... downsize, due to unforeseen circumstances. Comes complete with a cream G&G case. I'm looking for a sale only, so sorry, but no trade offers please. NOW SOLD.
17. I'm guessing it's exactly the same preamp, just with a Lakland plate. £10 more, though! The DJ5s are great basses anyway, but the East pre transformed mine tonally. Really worth the money.
18. The East J-Retro is fantastic, and an easy fit - no soldering involved. It comes fitted on a plate, and just drops straight in, you connect the pickups and away you go. All you need is a small flat-tip screwdriver.
19.
Not sure that is the same Karen Lawrence? The one I have in mind fronts(or fronted) Blue by Nature, sort of country-style blues band. Thinking about it, she is unlikely to be in a kitchen anywhere in England, and is probably 10 years too young, but certainly got the pipes to qualify. Without wishing to hijack the thread, here is Ms Lawrence swaying her hips rather interestingly and generally giving it some welly.
By jove, that young lady can sing and no mistake, and has certainly got something about her..... in fact her gyrations seem to have brought about a case of the Tim Henmans.....
20.
I can trade my dj5
Thanks for the offer, but I already have one. Great basses!
21. There's another issue here nobody seems to have picked up on... those are clearly very old photos of Penelope Keith. I expect she was in a bit of a tight spot after they cancelled 'To The Manor Born'. I bet the guitar's not even hers.
