1.
Though I've not heard it in person, in principle it makes total sense. Here is a video demonstrating the visible effects.
Thats the thing - you can see the difference - but can you really hear it? I like the idea of optimising my rig and have mulled with the idea of getting one of these for ages. Still on the fence.
2.
Jealous! I want one
Me too. Just not sure if it would make that big a difference to my sound?
3.
Ibanez soundgears are a pleasure to play, I tried an sr500 when I was last looking and it was great to play on but I don't remember it sound particularly brilliant, was a long time ago
Try the more recent SR models - they have the same feel but a much improved tone. I was pleasantly surprised by this myself recently.
4. Yes 2 - A 70 something Fender precision in Dolphin, Liverpool, going for £2500 a couple of years ago. Probably the nicest bass I've ever played - and I generally dislike Fenders! The other was my friends Shuker Jazz, he bought and sold it really cheap, another fantastic bass but I just didn't have the spuds. Someone on here got a real bargain.
5. I've still got my trusty SR500, had it 20 years and it still plays beautifully. I tried a new model several weeks ago - the feel of them is still great, the neck fantastic but the pick-ups are miles better than the older ones. Very punchy and you can get a variety of tones out of it. They are incredibly good value for money IMO.
6. Why not just buy a TB looper and have all the effects on one signal path and bypassed on the other?
7. I bought a Sansamp BDDI a couple of weeks ago - hated it. My tone disappeared and I didn't like the way it seemed to squash my fuzz and take all the meat out of it. I was trying to use the blend to get something I like out of it but then - whats the point of having a tone shaper if your trying to blend the effect out? I just wanted to try one out but I guess I'm too happy with my regular tone to require a tone shaper. Still after a quality D.I. though.
8. Man, I was all set to buy one the other day when my radiator threw in the towell, I really can't get by without a car so that had to take priority - I really didn't need to see that demo right now - its sounds tremendous , and so versatile! It's set me back a month but one day that pedal will be mine!
9. Tricky bought my sansamp BDDI. Took the trouble to drive up the M62 to collect it. Real nice guy. Easy to do business with. Cheers.
10. Hey man - good stuff, nice one! The b3k sounds killer - I'm saving up for one right now. Whats your favourite dirt out of your mighty collection?
11. Bought this recently from Nickytwister but its not my thing. Box and manual - £90 posted.
12. Its gotta be dirt closely followed by my Oc2 - or maybe both together!
13.
Thing is I still want to use my Reverb, Chorus and Delay pedals
Have you considered an M9? It does these 3 particularly well. The chorus is better than the CEB-3 and just as good as the Anologman in my opinion.
14. Traktion, a virtually idiot proof sequencer. I only need a basic recording and mixing program and it does this with ease plus a lot more beside.
15. Just make sure you try before you buy. I'm not a Fender fan but I always try them out when in music shops and I find a lot of them badly set up and there just doesn't seem to be any 'mojo' in them for me. Contrary to this - the best bass I've ever played was probably a 2nd hand Fender precision in Dolphin Liverpool about 3 years ago - 1971 model IIRC. It really was just beautiful to play - if I had two and a half grand I would have walked out the shop with it. I agree with their fans on here who say you need to try loads and you will find the right one.
16. We swapped Ryder necks - easy to deal with, Mel posted next day as promised - No problems.
17. Cliff and that solo got me and probably thousands of other kids into playing bass. Thats were it all began for me! It really is bass with attitude. And by the way, depending on what level your playing is at there is seriously good technique on display througout that solo, albeit a tad sloppy during his headbanging live performances. I actually played this during my final solo recital at uni - it was much more fun than the Bach Cello pieces (imho), and is just as difficult. Its still the first thing I play when I get a new fuzz pedal
18. I'm in a 4-piece band and I can't recommend the Boss OC-2 highly enough. Its well respected round these parts and should only cost you around £40 from either here or Ebay. It will change your tone though - but only in a good way!
19. Cheers for the detailed resopnse! We've worked with Glasswerk before but will definately look up the others you mention. Thanks!
20. Thanks man. Apart from the Zanzibar, are any of these pay to play - sell 25 tickets etc?
|The pay to play thing is easily avoided if you know who to speak to promotions wise.
That could be were we are going wrong - what would you recommend?
21. Sorry for derailing the thread - where is good to play in Liverpool at the moment? My band is struggling to get gigs. Pay to play is really killing us. We are an originals band but not particularly well supported - unfortunately. Any suggestions (Sorry Ead - I hope you don't mind!)
22.
Thanks - but Diago is a switch-mode PSU - it does things differently to the transformer-based PedalPower. I don't think it would work.
I'm not sure what this means but when I had that pedal I used the Diago psu with the 18v adaptor and it worked fine.
23. Great board Deej! Sea Machine Chorus = gas!
