Yes, we had someone lined up to kick it off, but his father was diagnosed with cancer so Basschat things have taken a back seat. We're hoping he will be able to get back into it in a few weeks though. We've had a series of let downs with web developers unfortunately.

I started to reply and then lost the will to live. Too much other kit in addition to basses and I'd forget 20% on first post, so would end up editing to add bits as I remembered them.

Hated my first bass, a precision with a ply body. Just sounded unrefined compared to the statuses and jaydees I was hearing at the time in the mid 80's. I've sort of come around to Fenders as sources of classic tone and have dabbled with the idea of a late 70's jazz bass. But they're still not my preferred instruments.

I love the look of these instruments. I'd probably make myself something similar if I had the tools. I imagine the use of so much wenge would make it heavy though.

A coat of polyeurathane is used by Pedulla - literally just spraying on load and loads of coats. Can't be used on necks that flex a lot though or the fingerboard will crack.

Its not just you unfortunately. The site has been slow for some people but not everyone. Ben did look into it yesterday but its not clear yet on whether what he did has worked.

I was surprised about Stuart Copeland. That boy has done well considering he's not really had much of a profile since the Police.

Wow, that Zoom B3 looks interesting. I've got two Lexicon MPXG2's; one for guitar, the other for bass. They're so cheap now, its ridiculous...something like a couple of hundred quid now, including the footswitch...and they're swiss army knives. I've also got a Native Instruments Guitar Kontrol set up too via my laptop. But the thing that has kind of bugged me is the size. Its not exactly a two handed, single load out solution. Much better to have something like the B3 which can be chucked into a gig bag for most covers/function band gigs.

My 98 NS5CR has a fairly thick neck and is slightly brighter (and growlier) and its incredibly comfortable - no hand cramps. The 2000 NS5CR has a thinner neck, the bass is warmer sounding (because the neck is slightly less stiff, I think) and I'm stuck between the two.

I've owned both GK and GB. The GK is warmer but also pretty aggressive in the treble. Good for rock bassists who use a pick. The Shuttle is more neutral sounding to my ears. It doesn't colour the sound so I can use different basses with it.
