3.
Hi Demanu, how you doin' mate?
just watching a game... having a bud...
4.
Oh really?! No 1 after 'cutlass' on the headstock? Yours is one of the earliest by the sound of it. Out of interest do you know what the date on the neck is? The neck will have a series of three numbers handwritten in black marker under the finish. (Although supposedly made from 1980, I've yet to find a Cutlass that wasn't made in '83 or '84.)
Really there is only Cutlass Its Serial is B023151 Jarhead I was their big fan I still like them and I think that "Demanufacture" was their the best album. Tech: technical highschool student and I hope electrical engineer in future
5. Hi. What dou you think about using efects like sonic maximiser in bass rig? I heard many different opinions about. One of them is about that sonic maximiser makes high quality basses sound worst than without. I'ts also not recommended in recording studio PS I'm going to build something like SM so I want to know is it worth building it
6. I'm wondering how can we descirbe perfect ear... the hearing is not an objective sense (it's only for ourselves)
7.
All three of mine had the same issue. If you'd had an instrument that was capable of low action I would have been booking air tickets to Poland. Does the headstock say Cutlass or Cutlass 1?
I'm still trying It's only Cutlass on headstock
8.
welcome to BC matey. I've owned three Cutlass basses, a couple of ones and a two. Whats the serial on yours and can you get low action on it? Any shots of it?
its cutlass 1 serial: B023151 action 3mm on E string on 12th fret. If I get it lower then i have terrible fretbuzz
9. there are basses called Pearl (or Perl, I dont remember ). One of my friends bough one. Its PB made in Japan in 1975. And he paid... about 1000 polish zloty (about 200-250 GBP)
10. of course they can, specially when speakers are poor quality or/and have series connection between which on weak cabs is very offen... but the difference between parallel connected 10" speakers (good quality speakers) is very small. Between 10" and 15" its pretty huge. of course we are talking about the same model of speakers
11. Hello. My name is Rafal and I'm writing from Poland I'm not native English speaker so please don't be angry for my weak English knowledge I'm playing bass from about 5 years and I'm constructing amplification (today basscabs but I'm finishing my own bass amp I will show it when it will be ready). I'm a carbon fiber maniac and I love bases which are have carbon fiber necks or are fully made of it for example Status or Modulus my gear: - Musicman Cutlass bass made in '83 (carbon fiber neck ) - Trace Elliot AH100 GP7 (series 6) - this amp is only for a moment but it sounds good or its price - DMNF 410 cab (it's cab build by myself with my own speakers ) Gear I had but I sold it: - Mesa Boogie 1516BE Diesel - Ampeg SVT 2p preamp - Sansamp RBI - Korg DTR2 (I'm going to buy it again ) - EBS TD600 Fafner PS and again sorry for my English and Merry Christmas
12. I remeber that in old times we was resolving that problem in old Tonsil speakers via... vacuum cleaner really it works. PS The dust cap can affect on sound but it depends of material. In your case I think it shouldnt affect the sound.
13. I think i will choose 2x 410. Why? because all speakers are working in the same phase. If you have two different speakers (10" and 15") the normal is that they have different phases. If you are playing fast, you can hear that one cab has a little delay to that second one... But... my favourite rig is 210 + 410 (210 8ohm and 410 4ohm because you have right power ratio for each cab: 2/3 and equal power for each speaker). 210 is a perfect cab for recording (i think it is much better than 410) and on stage both cabs have enough power and punch
14. I think that is better to use 5.3ohm cab on 4 ohm output than use 6 ohm cab on 8 ohm output. A lot of speaker so also a lot of cabs (i think its about 90%) have a litte lower impedance that what producer said. Also the impedance has a variable value (for example for 50Hz it can be 5x higher than nominal impedance of cab) and impedance value which we have on specification of cab is a minimal value above its resonance frequency (of course this value is +/-). Example: PS welcome! Its my first post on Basschat Sorry for my english but I cant speak it very good
