  1. Herbie Flowers and his blue jazz?
  2. One of my big bass-related regrets was not having the patience to wait for one of these to come back in stock. Ordered and paid for online, I got an email saying that the shop didn't actually have any in stock (the site said they did) and that it would be a few weeks before they had more in. I politely declined and cancelled the order and ended up spending a lot more putting together a parts Jazz. I think at the time the 50s Classics were around the £400 mark; this was about 10 years ago. Still, the whole thing could've been avoided if I'd not made the mistake of selling my US Standard Precision - the biggest of my bass-related regrets.
  3. Very cool. One of my mates has the Concert Lead and it sounded amazing on bass
  4. Ooft! I wanted one of these when I was about 15/16 and still occasionally keep an eye out, even though I don't really play guitar anymore. If shipping is available, I may have to go away and do some sums.
  5. I'm using Fender 9050Ms; they're 55-105 gauge flatwounds but by Christ they feel a lot heavier. They're not unenjoyable to play, and a bit brighter than flats I've had in the past, but I can't quite get the action as low as I did when I had lighter gauge rounds on.
  6. Does anyone have any recommendations for where I can find an old, high mass brass bridge like the one pictured? I've always liked the look of them but so far my searching hasn't returned any results.
  7. Thanks. Was interested in the idea of a Sunnbather preamp/DI pedal and a power amp but didn't really know how it would work.
  8. Sorry to hijack, but how would it work, using a power amp and a separate preamp pedal? It's something I've been interested in but never really understood.
  9. What are the odds that the "buyer" who added the additional €250 pulls out? Sounds like an attempt to drive the price up to me.
  10. I can't believe that picture didn't survive the transfer over to the new BC; I honestly think about it all the time
  11. I can't believe the profanity filter got me there
  12. I think when people mention "Trace watts", they're implying that it's a lot louder than expected, based on the power rating. Similarly, my old Peavey head does about 170W at 8 ohms, and 220W at 4 ohms, but will safely rip the derrière out of most modern amps.
  13. I picked up a Peavey TVX410 recently that's 4 ohms, and it sounds great, albeit it's very heavy. That said, 250 watts should be more than enough to cover most gigging situations, especially if you're using a line-out/PA.
  14. Is that pickguard made out of a cardboard box?
  15. I had no idea that there were different shaped guards. Stingrays - and most MMs - aren't really my cup of tea. Disappointing about the routing though, it's always nice to have the option to take the guard off.
  16. Rickenbacker may not be interested in your build, but just you wait until I tell Sturgeon about your unlicensed use of Rennie Mackintosh typography.
  17. I'd go for no guard, assuming everything looks ok underneath; otherwise, a black guard.
  18. I didn't even think of Velcro I'll try and find the video and see what I can do.
  19. Firstly, you'd need to establish exactly what it is you don't like about the bass, rather than making changes for the sake of it. I'm not sure what you mean by the pots feeling numb, but if you want to replace them, you'd be best to speak to @KiOgon , who makes bespoke wiring looms for lots of members on here.
  20. They do; they're the same thing as the folder spines, I just couldn't think of the name for them and that was the closest thing I could find on Google! I'm just not sure how I would go about attaching the material.
  21. I was thinking of something along the lines of these plastic poster clips: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002MXPKNA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Fwm4BbR7R3Q1B
  22. I did consider that, but I wasn't sure if it would work. The grill itself has a "raw" edge, for want of a better word. Other metal grills I've seen have a straight, flat edge, where as this one looks like it's been cut straight from a larger piece, so I'll need something to finish the edges to avoid ripping the cloth.
  23. Here is a picture of said cab:
