1.
If youd be ok with adding 'punchy' and maybe 'growly' then Id say youd be very happy. They arent vintage and old school like Ashdown though, think more modern. You really need to try one before laying THAT amount of money surely?
I said earlier that I couldn't try one out so I was a bit unsure. Didn't really expect them to be Ashdowny, but the Ashdowns sound nice IMO. Punchy and growly are both perfectly acceptable! Anyone know where I can try one, preferably near Glasgow?
2.
Making me feel bad for really not wanting to ship it!
That's the plan! No, I apologise if I have, I just can't find another anywhere.
3. What sort of sound is this suited to? My band is heavy-ish, progressivey rock. More Floyd than Tool. I need a thick, meaty bass sound, something along the lines of Jon Pierce (Reuben), or Garrett Tierney (Brand New). Loud and bassy really. Would this suit me? I really liked the sound of Ashdowns, if that's any help.
4.
Yes, just additional protection - I still haven't racked mine yet, but I must - if it fell even a couple of feet it'd do some damage to itself... I thought about a padded carry bag, but the GK one is over £100, so sod that! I've got a 4U rack bag affair on the way at half that price (they didn't have a 3U). The 2U + a bit of drilling would be fine too though...
There's a 3U rack head case for sales or swaps in the Market Place, can't remember which section though, possible bargain.
5. Just searched this amp on ebay, only 1, new, £475
6. Been looking at prices for flights to Bristol £65! And I have to get to Glasgow airport too, which, confusingly and annoying is miles away from Glasgow.
7.
You'd want 3U (you just need some room at the top) A perforated/vented 1U panel would finish it off nicely...
I know nothing about rack mounted stuff, I thought it went up in 2s, 2U, 4U and so on. Been looking at the Ashdown ABM rack mounted one too. Will it work just the same as a normal head? Is the case just for protection for gigging?
8. What size of case would i need then if I was putting it in a case. Would 2U be too small? Would I need a 4U and then have a bit of extra space? I've been thinking about getting a rack mounted head and then a case to go with it. The only thing that's putting me off is that I can't try it out.
9.
Yep, very good amp and definetly suitable for gigging - think that price is good too, though I haven't checked it against other outlets
Thats in the clearance section. Think they have it new for about £460 or so.
10. Found this in the clearance on Soundslive.co.uk: GK 700RB-II Anyone tried one of these? Searching about on the net for a decent gig-able bass amp.
11.
Yeah possibly worth adding I really don't fancy posting it. Sorry guys.
Well let me be the first to say that if no one on here's smart enough to take this off your hands and you decide you will post it, it's mine. Really guys, you're not going to find a bargain like this for a while.
12.
Sorry for the late response. I'm sure you've got this sorted by now but with APC you just give them a ring. Make sure you have the details ready:- ie weight and volumetric weight. Link to work it out: http://www.apc-overnight.com/information.php Let us now how it goes/how it went.
Not sent it yet, been waiting on a cheque arriving (came today) and then clearing, probably send it at the start of next week, will let you know how it goes.
Interparcel is just an agent for various courier companies, so they'll give CityLink the volume commitment they want for an account and bulk discounts. Then they resell that to you at less than you would have to pay going to UPS or Parcelforce as an individual. They used to rebrand all the services and you'd just have to accept whoever turned up, but now you can pick DHL, CityLink, UPS etc, depending on how much you're prepared to pay. I've used all three of those through InterParcel and never had a problem, but I've probably been lucky. Possibly with the volume Interparcel have they get better service, but I don't know that.
Interparcel are the cheapest option I think, but they don't have anywhere near Ayr to pick the amp up
13. Ten for me I think. Nope, eleven. Forgot about Rockers in Glasgow, which was horrible. Just under one gig a month isn't too bad I don't think for a band that only formed at the end of 2006, where until a few months go all 5 of us were still studying at uni.

16. It's glued I think. I gave it a good hardy tug with my pliers/string cutters but it's going nowhere. I spoke to my tech guy, he says he's going to make me a new one, from metal or bubinga or a similarly hard wood, so I reckon I'll just leave it in for him to remove. He'll know what's holding it in seeing as he put the nut in there in the first place.
17. Corvette for me, although I'm not adversed to the Streamer either
18. How do I go about it? I need to get the broken nut out of my Jazz, but I've no idea how to do it. It's stuck in pretty good. I dunno what with, if it's glued in or if its just a really tight fit, but what's the best way to remove one?
19. Ebay, as much as it pains me to say it. I've had 2 now from this seller in the US. InsightOut Music $11 for shipping to the UK, and the price is low enough that you wont have to pay customs on it, think the customs allowance is under £33. You'll have to get the saddles filed, but that shouldn't cost too much. And it's about 1/3 of the price you'd pay buying it from WD in the UK. Definite thumbs up from me.
20. Has anyone tried the Graphtech trem nuts? Any good?
21. Looking at the remains of the nut, the string slot on the low E was more of a square cut than a semi circle i.e straight lines and 90 degree angles than an nice, smooth cut, thats probably a big factor in it. Think I might try one off ebay, perhaps not Tusq, but at a fiver if it doesn't work it's hardly a major loss.
22. The original nut on my Jazz was very low down, and when I swapped to a Badass bridge the low E would jump out of the nut slot if I detuned to D (which I do, a lot). So my local tech made me a new nut, a Graph Tech one at a cost of £20. It was fine, good action, but the other night I was playing and a large chunk broke off, from the bottom of the low E slot to the top edge of the nut. I didn't hit it too hard, and I've hit harder, so I was a bit gutted when it broke. My question is, do I get my tech to make me a new one using the spare blank he gave me, or will a new precut form eBay do? There's several one eBay just now from very reputable dealers, precut to fit Jazz's and P basses. Has anyone got any experience of buying precut nuts? I don't want to spend money on a precut nut if it going to have the same problems as the original Fender one, but I don't want to spend even more on one being made for me just for it to break again.
