  1. Very cool. One of my mates has the Concert Lead and it sounded amazing on bass
  2. Ooft! I wanted one of these when I was about 15/16 and still occasionally keep an eye out, even though I don't really play guitar anymore. If shipping is available, I may have to go away and do some sums.
  3. I'm using Fender 9050Ms; they're 55-105 gauge flatwounds but by Christ they feel a lot heavier. They're not unenjoyable to play, and a bit brighter than flats I've had in the past, but I can't quite get the action as low as I did when I had lighter gauge rounds on.
  4. Does anyone have any recommendations for where I can find an old, high mass brass bridge like the one pictured? I've always liked the look of them but so far my searching hasn't returned any results.
  5. Thanks. Was interested in the idea of a Sunnbather preamp/DI pedal and a power amp but didn't really know how it would work.
  6. Sorry to hijack, but how would it work, using a power amp and a separate preamp pedal? It's something I've been interested in but never really understood.
  7. What are the odds that the "buyer" who added the additional €250 pulls out? Sounds like an attempt to drive the price up to me.
  8. I can't believe that picture didn't survive the transfer over to the new BC; I honestly think about it all the time
  9. I can't believe the profanity filter got me there
  10. I think when people mention "Trace watts", they're implying that it's a lot louder than expected, based on the power rating. Similarly, my old Peavey head does about 170W at 8 ohms, and 220W at 4 ohms, but will safely rip the derrière out of most modern amps.
  11. I picked up a Peavey TVX410 recently that's 4 ohms, and it sounds great, albeit it's very heavy. That said, 250 watts should be more than enough to cover most gigging situations, especially if you're using a line-out/PA.
  12. Is that pickguard made out of a cardboard box?
  13. I had no idea that there were different shaped guards. Stingrays - and most MMs - aren't really my cup of tea. Disappointing about the routing though, it's always nice to have the option to take the guard off.
  14. Rickenbacker may not be interested in your build, but just you wait until I tell Sturgeon about your unlicensed use of Rennie Mackintosh typography.
  15. I'd go for no guard, assuming everything looks ok underneath; otherwise, a black guard.
  16. I didn't even think of Velcro I'll try and find the video and see what I can do.
  17. Firstly, you'd need to establish exactly what it is you don't like about the bass, rather than making changes for the sake of it. I'm not sure what you mean by the pots feeling numb, but if you want to replace them, you'd be best to speak to @KiOgon , who makes bespoke wiring looms for lots of members on here.
  18. They do; they're the same thing as the folder spines, I just couldn't think of the name for them and that was the closest thing I could find on Google! I'm just not sure how I would go about attaching the material.
  19. I was thinking of something along the lines of these plastic poster clips: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002MXPKNA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Fwm4BbR7R3Q1B
  20. I did consider that, but I wasn't sure if it would work. The grill itself has a "raw" edge, for want of a better word. Other metal grills I've seen have a straight, flat edge, where as this one looks like it's been cut straight from a larger piece, so I'll need something to finish the edges to avoid ripping the cloth.
  21. Here is a picture of said cab:
  22. I've recently picked up a new cab that has an ugly black metal grill on it. Ideally I'd like to replace it with a Fender/Ampeg-style cloth grill, however when measuring up my cab yesterday, the recess on the front is only 15mm deep, give or take. Given that I have to allow for fixings (Velcro or similar), and for the thickness of the material over the frame, both front and back, is this going to be too shallow to allow me to fit a cloth-and-frame grill?
  23. I finally got round to picking up a new cab this week, about 7 months after I sold my old one. Definitely not lightweight but it sounds good and cost a hundred quid. Just tarted up the tolex on the cab with black boot polish, should really do the same with the head. Yes, that is a Milhouse sticker on the head.
  24. I must admit, power and watts confuses me more now than it ever did. It seems that, to a layman, more power, means louder and therefore better, which is why companies inflate their ratings, but my old 80s Peavey puts out about 210W at 4 ohms, topping out at 300 into 2 ohms, and will confidently outstrip anything you can put up against it; it's deafeningly loud.
