Hi all, I've been offered a trade of a bass that I really want by a new BC member. He has sent me pics which I've checked and they aren't from the internet. The problem is that he is is Scotland so it's a bit far for me to pick up. How can I cover myself in this trade, obviously I can't wait for money to clear or use paypal as I am sending a bass in return. I was thinking of us both arranging the courier that picks up the bass we each are going to have, but this still leaves room for scammage. FWIW I think the guy is genuine, but how can I be extra safe? Thanks for any advice!

I bought a set of XL half rounds to use on my fretless about a months ago and at first they sounded amazing but have very quickly lost their tone and I can actually see where I have been fretting against the string as it's very dull in those parts compared to the rest of the string. Is this usual for these strings or did I get a duff set?

It is a tad expensive so it's a good job they've put loads of info about it and pics up isn't it?

Ibanez Studio - heavy as hell but I wish I still had Pearl white Riverhead Unicorn - pre-owned by Dave Pegg! [b]BASS BREAK[/b] Crafter stingray abomination - lightest bass ever due to being (probably) from polystyrene. Burns Bison - suited the band I was in Hohner fretless headless. Westone Thunder 1A - beauty! Yamaha BB300 Shine SB35 - wanted to try a 5iver Ibanez Roadster Fretless - best sounding bass I've ever owned Westone Superheadless - superheadless, supercool! That's it - until I see a Thunder III. Or an Ibanez Studio Or an affordable Aria Pro II Or something else interesting!

If you bought it off of ebay or online you should have paypal and email receipts/correspondence to prove you bought it, though I don't think it is too likely you will have to prove it - I never have.
