1980 Ibanez Roadster Fretless. Bad points first - some of the laquer has peeled of at the bottom of the body. The owner before me scored lines into the fretboard - wazzock! There is also some wear on the board where (I assume) roundwounds have been used. If I were keeping this I would strip the fretboard, get rid of the score marks and recoat it. Good points - Plays beautifully well (for me) massive variety of sounds through the active preamp and has a lovely tone. Really good point - [b]Only £150! While weeping over the last one, I saw this rather lovely (albeit a snidge on the pricey side) Thunder IA. Beautiful condition but not the original knobs, but someone may well correct me on that. -

Yes, apologies - I was looking at the Daion page and got all excited and posted here before I looked at the rest of the site! There's a nice wasburn in there though as well as a couple of sexy looking BC Rich's

Looking around for info, I found this site which has loads of catalogues of all the Jap brands from 60's-80's. Very useful! http://www.oldguitar.jp/catalog/catalog.htm

Aloe Blacc - I Need a Dollar Only took about 20 seconds to learn but while watching the Jools Holland performance on youtube, I saw that he was using my favourite band as his backing band! United Vibrations - they're ace!

Came across these rather sexy things and wondered if anyone here had one/knew much about them. It appears they were made in the Yamaki factory between '79 and '84 although I've seen a few mentions of them being Matsumoku (which I doubt) Here's a few pics which I used from here: http://gallery.daionguitar.com/ Are these more common in the States and OZ than here? Any info appreciated
I'm just re-learning Living In The Past by Jethro Tull. Its quite tricky, but not overly difficult except that I have to sing it as well and its in a silly time signature. I thought I had it nailed on my own , from the tab and with no reference to the track apart from memory but when I got together with the guitarist it was obvious that it wasn't right and now I am having problems unlearning the wrong version. I can play it fine and I can sing it fine but really struggling to do both.
It's the standing on one leg which is really tricky!

Hey, just a quick ask - whats the best way to do the chorus fast riff in Stevie Wonder's 'Do I Do'? My finger's aren't getting it - when i go from Ab on the D string back to the Db on G string and then follow the rest of the riff down, they start giving up Is there a way that works better for you? NB. Obviously the answer is practice more! But y'know, is there a cleverer way is what I wanted to know. Cheers!
pick up a westone thunder! in your price range, and in terms of materials, build quality and tone nothing even comes close for under £200. the neck through models are rarer, but worth looking out for. not sure if its your bag but heres a very nice fretless one, wont be around for long trust me http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WESTONE-THUNDER-11-A...=item336724b4e6
Oh wow it's gone! Someone got a massive bargain! I'm quite sad now actually... ......Back to topic - get a Westone! You can have my Thunder 1A for a mere £120 smackers (I do love 'em, I just have my Thunder III now) -
