1. Do I Do - Stevie Wonder and the Gladys Knight version of 'Heard it on the Grapevine'.
 2.
Most of the gigs I do, turn round [s]too[/s] quickly enough and you brain the guitarist . Karl.
Fixed!
 3.
My 1984 Westone Thunder III - second "proper" bass (the first one was a Thunder 1A). In its 26th year and going strong. EDIT: Thinking about it, I would actually have no objection in principle to selling this bass, problem is that no-one would pay the money I’d want for it.
Try me!
 4.
Even split. Unless you're working with Axel Rose.
...........and in that case, pay him less than the others
 5. I bought a set of XL half rounds to use on my fretless about a months ago and at first they sounded amazing but have very quickly lost their tone and I can actually see where I have been fretting against the string as it's very dull in those parts compared to the rest of the string. Is this usual for these strings or did I get a duff set?
 6. It is a tad expensive so it's a good job they've put loads of info about it and pics up isn't it?
 7.
I've just spotted his ebay-name. It rings a bell but I can't remember from what... of course it doesn't help that all his past listings are private.
He sells (usually) ludicrously over priced stuff. If you look at any thread here laughing at how much something cost there's a fair chance it's him.
 8. This month, any amount is too much - got to pay out for Glastonbury tickets innit?
 9. Sexy! But a little too much monies for me I'd put this on the Westone forums too.
 10. Personally, I prefer his playing on the Gladys Knight version. They're all good though!
 11. Shame this is in the states - it's a lovely Vantage
 12. The ones I own currently are in my sig, but here's a list of all of 'em: (In order of owning) Westone Concord (that I covered in pages from Melody Maker and varnished!) Ibanez Studio - heavy as hell but I wish I still had Pearl white Riverhead Unicorn - pre-owned by Dave Pegg! BASS BREAK Crafter stingray abomination - lightest bass ever due to being (probably) from polystyrene. Burns Bison - suited the band I was in Hohner fretless headless. Westone Thunder 1A - beauty! Yamaha BB300 Shine SB35 - wanted to try a 5iver Ibanez Roadster Fretless - best sounding bass I've ever owned Westone Superheadless - superheadless, supercool! That's it - until I see a Thunder III. Or an Ibanez Studio Or an affordable Aria Pro II Or something else interesting!
 13.
If your gear is second hand how do you prove that you've owned it if it gets stolen? I have stuff I've traded for/bought on ebay that I don't have invoices/receipts for.
Take a photo of yourself with the gear and a photo of any serial numbers too. If you bought it off of ebay or online you should have paypal and email receipts/correspondence to prove you bought it, though I don't think it is too likely you will have to prove it - I never have.
 14.
Does this constitute bad plywood? This might polarise opinion among non-fans of playable furniture... J.
Love it! Never seen a 2 part bridge like that either. What is it? The knobs look Aria Pro II-ish
 15. Take lessons, learn to read music if you don't already.
 16. Sexy Sexy Aria Pro Tri sound
 17.
I can think of a couple of examples that I do Love below : Any pointers would be most welcome.
It's funny, but I'm pretty sure he's not slapping in this song! Certainly, if the video is live then you can see it's fingerstyle. Maybe that's why you love it?!
 18.
Yes but thats just a single string. If you dropped the entire bass down, then you need transposition.
Message received and understood.

 22.
Sorry, but you're wrong there. It's exactly the same principle as woodwind instruments, i.e. so that the player doesn't have to sight transpose or learn new fingerings/positions. Logically, if you describe a bass in standard tuning as being at concert pitch, then a bass tuned down a half step would be in Db and the necessary transposition would need to be made to the score.
I see what you're saying and obviously when I write trumpet or sax parts etc the keys are transposed, but if, say, you drop the E string to a D, why does that change the key for the bass? All the other strings are in concert pitch and you may only visit the (lower) D string twice in the whole piece. Changing the key for the piece would mean you're fine on one string but then have to learn new fingerings for the other 3 (or 4 or 5).
 23.
When you change the tuning of a bass it's not in concert pitch any more (e.g. when the player reads a C a B is sounded) so you have to compensate by changing the key of the written music. Here's an example: get the funk out youtube P.S. The excess naturals in do I do are from writing in B and auto transposing to C without proofing.
When you change the tuning, a C is still a C. It's just on, for example, the 2nd fret rather than the 3rd. I wouldn't call 3rd fret on the 2nd string a C when I've detuned. So the score would stay the same, but a tab would change.
