1. First gig for the new funk band - at a party in a mansion in Wiltshire! Went amazingly well, had to extend move on up to a 25 min version and a couple of others too as people wouldn't let us stop! Ended up 'borrowing' a boat and watching the sun come up on the local lake - good times!
2.
few dings to head plays ok
On a Quantum?? Are you sure??
3. Niiiiice! If I hadn't had to pay a £1000 bill ( ) bill last week, I'd be making an offer! Good luck. Edit: I've never seen a Westone hard case like that before either.
4.
Amazing groove from Bootsy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQvUKJ440fI
Which is why I put this up 2 or 3 pages ago and beat you to it! EDIT: It was on the last page and you commented on it you crazy fool! But it is good enough to put up 2, or 3 or 4 or 5 times!
5. It wasn't hard after all!
6. Does anyone know where I can find a transcription for this? Cheers!
7. The Trumpeter and Sax player in my band are married. I can't work out if that's really good for them or really bad......
8.
Wombles & U2 play Glastonbury: Wombles: invented recycling, wear great costumes, play lovely pop tunes. U2: have a carbon footprint larger than Brazil, zero dress sense, make Bartok sound snappy and cool. Micheal Eavis: who is Uncle Bulgaria this year? Ooops did I say that out loud... ficelles
Possibly the best thing I've ever read on BC...

10. My fingers know a lot more songs than my (conscious) brain does.

12. They're both sexy though I prefer the blue/blonde one.
13.
Good priced Thunder at gumtree: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/westone-...guitar/81697667
Yes, although it's a shame he calls it "The early 90's model" when they stopped being made in '87. A typo perhaps?
14. Oooo I like this - bit much for my pockets but lovely all the same.
15. There was a Westone Thunder IA on Leeds' Gumtree last week, great basses whether you're a beginner or not. Good for pop/punk as well, nice and bright with good active controls. Best bit..........£65!!!! Can't go wrong.
16. I started on trumpet and then French horn, but bass I chose later because I loved the sound, if bass didn't exist I'd go drums or back to brass, guitar has never appealed to me though. BASS IS ACE!
17.
Wow! That's a bargain.
It must've gone by now.

20.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPER-RARE-vintage-1...=item19c5e18cc9 I read this listing thinking "Must be a fake". Apart from the tuners, I couldn't see anything that looked particularly convincing as being evidence of a 50-year-old bass, and I've been lucky enough to own a number of instruments from that period (mainly Hofners, rather than Fenders, mind). The description provided seemed chiefly concerned with throwing the burden of proof (or otherwise) onto the buyer. Yet, for all I know, this is an entirely genuine auction of a very rare bass in truly superb condition. Sad, isn't it?
You didn't think the wiring looked 50 years old?
21.
The phrase "Chops" is exceeded in its ghastliness only by "Woodsheddin' " and "Dialing in my tone". That is all.
So I can opt out of 'chopsness' on the grounds of taste? Excellent news!
22. So, what makes up your 'chops'? Is it just showing how versatile you are, how fast or just whether you've got a lot of hair on the sides of yer face??
23. I used this video to work it out - the tone's not great and it's not on fretless but that just makes it easier to see what he's playing Edit: having watched it again, I can't believe I used this - it's pretty shoddy after the beginning - I think I just listened to the actual track after the beginning bit.
