wow, never heard of this group before....funktastic stuff, thanks!
They're playing in London in October I think. Any Basschatters going?
Not necessarily true, I think. Not all bands are run as businesses; there are many that do not have the same financial or commercial reasoning. Why go for £150 if one could get £250..? Maybe because, in their eyes, £150 is enough..? Not 'What they're worth' (that's not part of the equation...), but what they consider makes the deal worthwhile. Fixing a price between the other bands is rather close to a 'cartel', isn't it..? Is there no notion of competition between bands going on..? In this 'free market economy', much vaunted in other debates, is this not a healthy sign, a way of cutting out the dead wood..? Basically these are false arguments, as the bands concerned are probably not playing for the same reasons (... or are they merely more 'efficient' than the higher cost ones..?)
Running a business at a loss subsidised by other businesses within the same company is also illegal and I think that this is what going out for 50% of the average rate equates to in band terms. Of course, it isn't illegal in this context but it's jolly bad form all the same.
No - I wasn't born to do or be anything. If I had been I wouldn't have had to practise to get any good. I reckon anybody can do or be pretty much anything they want to , given the desire to do it. I started playing bass because every guitar player I knew as a teenager was better than me and figured I better do something different. I also figured it would be much easier to get to a standard where I could play in front of people on bass than it would be on guitar , and by and large I think I was right. That won't be a popular opinion round here , I expect , but I can't help that.
Yep, the more you practice, the more 'naturally talented' you are.

Fenders are the best flatwound I've found - cheapest too!
I dunno about that, but generally if the rehearsal before a gig goes well then it'll be a sh*tty gig, and vice versa...
True - why is that?

My swing project are pretty much exactly this - swing covers of modern stuff as well as a selection from the 30's 40's & 50's. - I'll get some video done at our gig next Thursday and send it over
I bought Chay's NS WAV. He was very patient with my car troubles and eventually I managed to collect it. Nice guy, good deal, no problems. This is the second bass I've bought from him, and if that Thunder II goes up for sale... Recommended
That Thunder II IS up for sale! Great to meet you, realised afterwards that my hospitality skills were lacking - didn't even offer a cup of tea! But that's what 36 hours without sleep does to me..

Aria SB-1000 Reissue, 2004, John Taylor model
chaypup replied to Reese2101's topic in Basses For Sale
Oh yes, forgot to say. The weight of the bass is 4.5 kg. or 9.14 pounds so it's not the lightest bass ever but it balances extremely well. No neck dive or anything like that. I'm mentioning this because the original Aria basses from the late 70's early 80's had a tendency to weigh the same as a ships anchor
I believe the correct unit of measurements is 'Belgiums' Bumps must observe the 36-hour rule though, as per the pinned topic at the top of this forum. Nice bass! -
Absolute disaster of a gig filling in for a wedding pop covers band on Sunday night. Long post, but this is a bit of a rant. {Snip}.. and the band owner is down money because of it!
Demanding money with menaces, breach of contract - should have had the police help him get it back for the first or sue for the second.

Westone Thunder II - the first version with (as you can see) twin P's XLR output with LED - I haven't seen another one like it before or since although there are others with XLR outs (without the LED) and a couple with a twin XLR/1/4" Jack input. Beautiful bass that sounds as good as it looks. I'm selling this as... well, I'm fickle! Here's some info: http://www.westone.i...under2bass.html I'm asking for £[s]425 NOW £380! [/s]NOW £300!!!! but try me for trades - anying unusual should pique my interest - if you have a Daion Power XX especially!
