1. For any Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer users out there, it looks like these pedal's are no longer in production . This site however, provides some great new patches, including the Paul Turner custom patches and (unreleased) new firmware....http://www.cgraham.com/chris/music/bass/octavius_squeezer/ - cheers Trevor.
2. Hi Thomas, I use a PJB Double Four. I took a punt early this year and bought one untried after reading good things about them. Have to say it's a great little amp, fantastic sound for an amp not much bigger than a shoebox. The sound you get out of it is very clean, it can get pretty deep if you need it to, (the rear porting design works really well) but I would say it's not particularly loud. It's perfect for me practising at home at night at low volumes and not waking up the kids! There's not many UK stockists, I ordered mine from Drew at Manchester Bass Lounge - he was very helpful & quick delivery. Hope this helps, cheers Trevor.
3. Going back to the OP and that you'll primarily be using an active Warwick and you want to have some clean bass coming & works well with Fuzz, I'd recommend the Chunk pedals, 00Funk Mk II or Octavius Squeezer (which is envelope, fuzz and synth in one). They both sound great with my Warwick, (although you need patience with the Squeezer to program in the sounds you want).. I also have an Emma DiscumBOBulator on my board and definitely agree that on it's own it is pretty subtle (you definitely get some clean bass coming through) and sounds great combined with fuzz for synth. Also keen to take a look one day at the MuFX Tru Tron, looks very interesting.
4. Warwick already has a custom shop version out (which I think retails for about £12k!!). Warwick has just announced details of the first 'affordable' version (made in China, although no sight of what this will sell for yet). It's apparently available from July 2014. http://www.warwick.d...--Pictures.html What's everyone think? I suspect this might be a love it or hate it bass!
5. Never played in a band, so whatever time I get (which is limited with work, kids etc)...then yes I'm noodling about, learning new bass lines & techniques, spending a lot of time playing around with effects (& making interesting noises ).
6. I've seen BNH a couple of times over the years...so very good live. Was it Dawn Joseph on vocals? They seem to have fallen out with N'dea Davenport Their last album 'Forward' is great too BTW.
7. Thanks guys, I've already read a few horror stories about buying direct. Guess I'll keep looking for a second-hand one.
8. Hi - as usual I'm probably too late to the party. Did the Xerograph definitely sell? I'm really interested in getting one of these.
9.
nice collection of russian EHx pedals, dig it!
Thanks mate - I think I bought the Russian Bassballs from you via BC!!
10. Hi - this is the first time I've posted my pedal-board on here. It's been a work in progress for sometime, and only now really happy with the pedals and the order of the chain. I only play for fun not in a band & love playing funk, hence a lot of wacky 'out there' effects , and you can never have enough Envelope filters IMHO !! I'm more or less happy with what I've got but still contemplating getting an EHX Neo Mistress flanger to go in after the Russian Small Stone, but after that, that's about it! (famous last words).
11. Sly and the Family Stone - 'Higher' - got bought the 4 disc anthology. Can't recommend it enough. As well as all the well know stuff, lots of obscure great funk tracks on there that I'd never heard before.
12. I watched it and have to say that was pretty poor. Really hoping that EWF are not past their sell by date!
13.
Possibly this... It's so ridiculous it's actually great....
What is that bass??!! - in a strange way I kinda really like it! Does it come in a four string!
14. Love a bit of JTQ, I remember seeing them live at the Island in Ilford, with Noel McKoy & Snowboy.Absolutely fantastic band live.
15. How good are the folks at digidave. Just want to stress I am in no way affiliated with them, but Caroline there particularly helpful in finding the right reverse polarity tip to for my Russian bassballs to fit my daisy chain. Couldn't be more helpful in finding the right parts, and what's more they refused to charge me for it. I then order another one for my Russian small stone and again no charge! I've bought power supplies from them previously but what great customer service. Anyone else had a good experience with them?
16. @12stringbassist - I'm loving the Streamer Chrome Tone, is that a custom shop model?
17. I bought a Sovtek EHX Bassballs pedal from Andy. Pedal exactly as I wanted. Andy is a top bloke, quick to respond to pm's and emails and very very quick to despatch the item. Many thanks mate! Trev
18. I've used myUS.com a couple of times and they've been really good. Quick delivery and fairly reasonable too.
19. Well I love my Warwick Corvette $$ Ltd Edition - Maybe I'm biased but to me it looks great, is easy to play and has a lovely growly tone. The workmanship and finish is surperb. No blingy gold hardware in sight either
20. Hi - I just sent you a PM about p+p. cheers.
21. I'd also go for the Korean version over the Rockbass, or do what I did & buy a used German made Corvette $$
22. The EHX Bass Micro Synth is pretty good, but if you don't mind spending some time on programming in your sounds then I recommend the Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer (plus you get both envelope filter and fuzz with this).
23. Can you dig it? - Big big Isaac Hayes fan here too!
24. Finally got to see Cameo at the Jazz Café last night, (after the original gigs were postponed). Most of their original line-up were there (incl. Larry Blackmon, Toni Jenkins and Aaron Mills – awesome on the bass). Have to say they absolutely rocked the place and Cameo were still as funky as Larry’s codpiece. The set included a lot of their big hits, Candy, She’s Strange, Single Life, Back & Forth, Attack me with your Love, and a rousing rendition of Word Up!, as well as some of their early 70’s funk and soul (incl. Sparkle, Feel Me, Keep it Hot, Flirt). Definitely worth seeing. Their last London show is tonight.
