If space wasn't an issue, I might think 2x12 instead of the 1x15, and have the 10's on top..
My EBS 2x12 is the same size as a 4x10 and weighs 22 Kg. If I could run down to 2 Ohms, I'd forget 10s and 15s and buy another one. That said, I can't imagine needing much more volume than I can get with an LMII and a single 2x12 . I think the original poster could do a lot worse than hop on a cheap flight to London on 10th October and visit the SE Bass Bass - he'd actually get to see and hear a huge selection of gear, much wider than any one dealer could ever provide. He might even find some floor space if he asks someone nicely.

Obscure Musical Backwaters - The Great SGC Nanyo Thread
pete.young replied to Happy Jack's topic in Bass Guitars
Nice SB325 just went through the bay, if you like the colour. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SGC-Nanyo-Bass-Colle...utorefreshZtrue This shot up from £130 in the last 10 minutes - I think someone still got a nice axe for a good price. Anyone we know? -
Do you gig these CrazyKiwi?
I gig mine occasionally, with an EBS 2x12 just like Kiwi's. It's plenty loud enough for the kind of venues we play, although I'd like to try it with one of Alex's Vintage cabs at some point. The Pro 2000 guitar combo was gigged last year, and easily matched a Mesa Half Stack, until we had to carry it away! 53 Kg.
So bizarre it's used by many a band such as alice in chains, funeral for a friend etc...
You'd think that if all those bands were so famous and successful, they'd be able to afford proper instruments.
but i'd like some songs that are usually played on a 5 string, or a 4 string tuned to BEAD. Z x
Misery Business by Paramore goes well on a 5. It's originally in something bizarre like dropped C# on a 4 string

Al is talking bollocks. It's perfectly possible to run a Line 6 DL4 and a bunch of 9V pedals using a Diago Power station and the green Diago adaptor. We have one and it works fine. Read the FAQ on the Diago site. The Line 6 power supply is AC, but the pedal is DC - input is transformed to DC by a bridge rectifier circuit. The Diago adaptor bypassses this rectifier and puts DC directly into the pedal.

The bass big muff allows you to blend the distorted signal with the clean signal. I think this makes it a clear winner!

Matt Schofield Trio. Mind you the keyboard player does have an excellent left hand. Pete
They are made of chip board
Mine isn't. It's made of half-inch ply. I priced up all the bits I'd need to make a board and it came to just under 50 quid. For that, I decided I'd rather not have the hassle and bought a second-hand one for around the same price.

Burman Pro 4000 valve bass head
pete.young replied to pete.young's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You have the GPA and power pak set up? Oh now I'm jealous. I think we need to see some pics and maybe a separate thread if more people have Burman stuff.
Here is your starter for 10! Kicking this off at the request of the CrazyKiwi. Top: Burman Pro 4000 bass head. Bottom: Burman Pro 2000 guitar combo. KT77s in the 4000, showing the Marshall pattern spring retainers fitted by Paul Glazebrook to stop the valves falling out at moments of stress!
Many guitarists used them as boosts and sustainers, you can hear it all over the Doobie Brothers tracks.
Thats interesting. That Pedalworx McSqueeze I got from you ended up on a guitarist's pedal board, and he often does just that with it - having a switch to turn the compressor off makes that much easier.

Burman Pro 4000 valve bass head
I was talking to Greg t'other day. Nice chap.
I hear that he hasn't been too well recently. Shame, hope he's on the mend. I have two of his amps, they're the best in the world. -
Powered Wedge Monitor that can handle Bass Guitar
pete.young replied to zabaman's topic in Amps and Cabs
We have a set of Carlsboro PM10 powered monitors, a master and slave setup rated laughably at 100W They have a tendency to blow the internal fuses, which is frequently caused by the output transistor melting. It's only the size of a well-chewed fingernail. Given the reliability problems, and given that Carlsboro have gone bust and the more esoteric spares are already getting hard to find, I'd recommend you find something else. -
Gentlemen, start your engines! Here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Burman-4000-150-watt...id=p3286.c0.m14 This would originally have had the Golden Lion KT77 valves in and probably dates from 1980, that's around the time these were fitted. With EL34 the output will be 100 W. The build quality of these amps is second to none, on a par with the mil-spec Hiwatts that Dave Reeves made in the 1970s and early 80s. I've never seen one of these on Ebay before, so it will be very interesting to see what it goes for.

I have heard of people using the Simms Watts all-valve guitar and PA heads for bass, but I've not come across this model before. It all seems to be intact but i'd be put off by the solid state pre / valve power. A s hop down this way had a guitar head and matching 4x12 but I think it's moved on long ago.

This looks identical to the Fishman unit on my Dean B2. I posted something about the electronics in another thread, but basically the Dean preamp gives you a separate volume pot for the piezo to balance the sound with the mag pickups. The piezo on it's own sounds woody, if that makes sense. V8's description is pretty good. The upper octave sounds like the bass of a classical guitar to my jaded lugs. It also seems to add some punch to the sound when used with the mag pickups. I'll try and get some sound samples up once my recording engineer wakes up!

Slightly peeved about Gallery workshop prices
pete.young replied to Sibob's topic in General Discussion
As indeed stated the prices are 'from' the work involved routing a pickup through the body and also in the scratchplate does involve a fair bit of time and expertise, supplying the pickup etc cuts the cost, but wiring everything up again, is quite time consuming, routing and wiring a bass we think £100 is a very reasonable price. With regards the refret again indeed if the fingerboard was unbound the price would £130, it is just a little more involve with binding. We are also in the process of having a new website launched where there will be a more extensive and up to date price list. I have updated the old website prices alex
I don't think that's unreasonable. Take your Land Rover into a main dealer for a service and you'll be paying £120/hour labour charges. -
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum - feel free to move it Mr. Moderator. I've got an audition tomorrow and have been sent 4 MP3 files of songs to learn. I can hook up my MP3 player to my Tascam Bass Trainer and play along to the songs but I can't take the bass out of the recording, which is really helpful. Does anybody know if I can convert the MP3 files to a format that'll let me edit the bass in the Tascam ?
Do you have one of the older Bass Trainers that requires a CD? If so just use something like Nero (if you have it) or CDBurnerXP to make an audio CD - these will automatically convert the MP3 into audio file format.
