Up for sale, my trusty Mark Bass LMII, (or swop for a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0).
Hi Jonny, Seriously, you have a/b' d your LMII with a Shuttle? As an LM II owner, I'd have to say I was seriously underwhelmed by the Shuttle I tried last weekend. Pete
 2. Here we go - a vintage doing what it's supposed to do - supporting a classic valve amp. Ooops. Let's try that again! Thanks once again to Merton for the use of his Vintage. I think the black cloth might be a better match. Tough decision!
 3.
Now you've got me looking at Ashdown & I think I'm in love with the new Ashdown five fifteen mini bass stack! Of course it's £50 over budget but WoW. What do the panel think?
I hope it's a lot better than the Perfect 10 Mini-rig, at that price. If you had 200 quid to spend you'd be far far far better off with a Roland Cube.
 4. Just wondered if anyone is gigging in Cardiff on Thursday night this week (15th October). I'm staying over for work and likely to be at a loose end.
 5. What a brilliant day - kudos to silverfoxnik, hamster, merton, jonnylager and obbm (did I miss anyone, sorry) for setting it up, Mrs Hamster for the brews, all the people brave enough to give workshops and demos and a special thank you to Hartke for being so generous. Excellent choice of venue too. It was good to meet some old friends and put some names to new faces. Highlights for me were having a nice chat on the way down and back with Dave C, MacDaddy's incredible Shuker, all the workshops, Bassace's number plate and 51m0n's rant about pedal compressors! And of course winning the raffle, which was a real surprise because I never win anything! Thanks to Merton (again) for letting me try my Burman head with his Vintage. Some truly thunderous low B's from where I was standing (10 feet in front of the cab!) There will be a pic in the pics thread when I get around to finding my phone cable. Excellent job all round - can't wait for the next one.
 6.
Hi Pete That'd be great; thought the L2500s were active though? Nik
Hi Nik, Active/passive at the flick of a switch. Gotta love 'em! Pete
 7. Nic, Do you still want a passive 5 - I could bring my G&L2500. Or I might just bring my BB800, to make you realise what a mistake you made :-) Best, Pete
 8.
Is anyone coming from the east end of London who has the space/inclination to transport a Barefaced Vintage? Alex
Possibly. Whereabouts in East London? I'm coming down the A12 so a detour isn't out of the question. I though Merton was going to bring a Vintage - I'm very interested in trying one with my Burman.
 9. You have PM!
 10.
I would have thought that the guitarist practising the whole song, particularly the transitions to and from the solo, would be more useful than just doing the solo in isolation.
+1 for that. Transitions, starts, finishes, they're the three places where things can fall apart.
 11. Way Huge Swollen Pickle. Tee hee.
 12. Keep dealing with Lean Business, they're good guys. Ditch Norton. It's a heap of sh*t. Lean Business are just down the road from me. If you want someone to call in let me know and I'll see what I can do.
 13. Euphonic Audio heads are very hi-fi and don't seem to colour the sound.
 14.
What you can do, at least with Schallers and I see no reason Dunlop won't work too, is to fit the lock to the inner hole, put the outer hole over the string 1st and then place the straplock on. That way it all fits together neatly and if the lock fails there's a chance the outer hole will prevent a dive to the floor.
+1
 15. Use google to search the site - put site:basschat.co.uk into the search string.
 16.
Pickle Pie B here the bbm has a blend (it's the 'dry' setting) but it's not adjustable.
If you're on the 'dry' setting, the volume knob controls the amount of clean signal to distorted signal.
 17.
As I've turned 40 that will obviously have to be a blues band as it's the law!
It is? Oh bollocks, outlaw again!
 18.
It appears to me that lately, 'Jam Nights' are becoming a place for acoustic guitar playing singers to get up and sing their 'original' songs, solo. Very little Jamming actually goes on.
Ah, I see. Folk clubs used to be like this in the 1970s, except that they had guest artists who could actually play and sing too! Mostly.
 19.
Sometimes they will not all fit. errrr,eg, Sultans of Swing is in F Major (or Rel minor D minor - same thing in essence) - Dm, C Bb F chords, but changes to Amajor at times for brief moments in the verses and first solo, with the inserting of the A Major chord . The keys F Maj / D min use A minor chord, so the key changes briefly every time the A maj chord is used. Gives it a different feel, and you have to change the scales in the solo from F major to Amajor to fit over the A major chord.
I don't agree with this. A major is the normal 5th Chord for D harmonic minor, so there is no key change to A major.
 20. Nice one Bilbo, this is a classic part that deserves to be out there. There is so much fabulous bass playing on that album. Thank you.
 21. Much respect to you mattbass6 . I hope you find what you're seeking, and I hope you stick around this forum for a while in the meantime.
 22. Perfectly valid piece of technique on upright bass. I've heard it called 're-inforcing'.
 23.
Any recommendations?
Take it to someone reputable. There are limits on what you can usefully conclude from an internet forum.
