1. I'm saddened by this, Hunky Dory was formative stuff for me. Cancer is a bastard, what can we do to beat this disease?
2. I won't be buying any genuine Rickenbacker products. Copies on the other hand ...
3. I'm very interested in this and will probably bid - I've been looking for something similar for a while. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330924342226?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Does anyone know what is going on with the strange extra pickup?
4. I went to a gig, very very good reggae band called Darien Prophecy.
5. In terms of sound , you need to look at the volume of air that the cabs are moving. Chances are that a 4x10 is going to move more air than a single 12, and probably more than a single15.
6. Bertbass is spot on - I think they were based in Leeds, and nothing whatsoever to do with the river Fal in Cornwall which sounds much nicer. I inherited mine from my parents band - they used to use it as PA and I didn't have the heart to throw it away until it started blowing fuses and I couldn't fix it. Yours appears to be in much better condition.
7. Coo, he's a big lad for 8 years old. Should be fine then.
8. Good grief - I used to have a head just like that, and took it down to the tip. You didn't .... ?
9.
Interesting replies, very informative thanks. Wonder if Yamaha will ever do a JJ version as well as the PJ configuration? It might win over some Jazz bass fans. Cheers Garry
BB NE2 is a JJ version.
10. If you're going to ignore my advice and go for a 30", you want this: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/207578-squier-vintage-modified-jaguar-short-scale-for-sale-l150/
11. For 8 years old I think these are all too big. An alternative is to look for a Tanglewood Elf, they have a 19.75 inch scale length and crop up on ebay from time to time. I think there was one for sale on here not long ago.
12.
Nah, do a Mike Paton and crap in his hairdryer. Next time he turns it on he'll get a facefull!
ObFatFreddy'sCat: "Wait until he puts on his stereo headphones!"
13. Audiospares.
14. 37 to 32 would be about right for a 5-string. Time to get the tape measure out.
15. I've got a Korg MA-30, cheap, does everything you need a metronome to do and can be plugged into a PA to keep unruly drummers in order if necessary :-)
16. Good luck, sure you'll be fine.
17.
Definitely. I wonder of the album that song is on all sounds like that? Sooooooo Police sounding, I love it. This live version is excellent:
Thank you Loz, that is outstanding.
18. Bit of a long shot I know, but if this didn't sell and you still want to move it on, please send me a PM!
19.
Best synth pedal ever without a doubt - love mine but not sure I would have paid £700 for one!
At that price, there's a ton of doubt. It's not even close to what you can achieve with Roland V-Bass , which is currently changing hands for a lot less than 700 quid. Bonkers.
20.
oooh, and this one has a blue light! I love blue lights!
2 blue lights - there's another one for the mute switch. It doesn't get any better :-)
21. To get you back on topic, I have been using a TecAmp Puma 110 as a personal monitor, with DI to the PA, for about 6 months now and it works very well. I put it on a combo stand to get it a bit closer to the ear, but it can also be angled back using the rod support that comes with it for that purpose. It is smaller, lighter, easier to carry and very very much louder than the A100 that it replaced. It will also drive another 8 Ohm cab for a bit more volume.
22.
There is a facebook page 'Jazz East t The Fludyers'.Please get it out there as much as you can.
Can't seem to find the facebook page, maybe it's not live yet.<p>Make sure that you get in touch with Gill Burgoyne at the Grapevine, www.grapevineweb.co.uk - she writes a monthly Jazz column and you might get some good publicity. Also get the gigs in the gig guide.<p>This is just about within cycling range for me, so I can bike over if the weather is nice.<p>This is a Sunday gig - Lunchtime, evening or mid-afternoon?
23. Top quality information in this thread - any chance we can get it stickied?
24.
The joy of the forum software is that the figures are a matter of public record - should be all the information you need in the forum, Pete.
I wasn't aware that there were any stats published - where can I find them? I could go to the forum and count the postings, life is too short and that method isn't likely to be very accurate. It would be very easy for the hosting site to offer stats based on the log files, but I don't know whether this info is readily available. In the absence of any statistics, it's much easier for me to just claim that the numbers of postings have gone down, and then someone else can compile the evidence :-) Edit - I now find myself having to edit raw html - hadn't noticed this before, guess I'm doing something wrong as usual
