1. Most PA power amps will have 2 4 ohm channels, which will allow you to run two pairs of 8 ohm cabs. Peavey ipr1600 for example. Then you just need a pre amp.
2.
How do you guys cope with 14/15/16 mm spacing??
Badly. For 5s, Try SGC Nanyo Bass Collection, despite what someone said earlier in the thread. Try Yamaha BB ditto, my BBNE2 is 18mm at the bridge. My TRB5P Mk1 was 19mm with a fretboard like the deck of an aircraft carrier. MTD Kingston has a nice wide spacing. Fender 5s are 19mm. Stingray 5 is 17.5mm at the bridge, about the narrowest I can cope with. Maruszczyk will make wider spacings. For 6s, you're going to struggle to get anything much more than 17mm unless you go the custom route.
3.
I'd get absolutely no pleasure from playing this now, knowing that a 13y/o boy has been criminalised by his own father for making a simple mistake
Sometimes you just have to wonder what kind of world we are living in, when fathers can do this to sons. Kudos to the op for doing the right thing and good luck in your search.
4. In that case try cdguitars.co.uk they sell spare schaller straplock nuts and washers.
5. Check out the "Recommended Luthiers" sticky at the top of this forum.
6. Look like Neoline to me.
7. Barefaced what, exactly? It is impossible to tell from the terrible quality photograph. Might be interested in a deal for the washing machine though.
8. Take the straplock off the strap, put the strap on the button and fit the straplock on the button ever the top of the strap.
9.
Did anyone ever get stung by a Stingray?
Steve Irwin?
10. I have recently put some Delano pickups into my 465 to go with the nordy preamp that has been there for a while. It's a great combination which has transformed the bass into a real tone monster.
11.
What is perfect pitch with a banjo? Throwing it in the bin without it hitting the sides. I adore banjo. Wish I knew more about it and will check out the suggestions. I had assumed it took decades to get a reasonable sound.
That would be "into a toilet without hitting the seat". It's like anything else: any idiot can master the equivalent of root - 5th in a couple of days but to get to a reasonable level takes a bit of time and effort. If you are anywhere near Suffolk you are welcome to drop by and I can show you the basics of old time frailing/clawhammer/drop thumb and Irish style tenor. Not bluegrass though, I found that way too difficult to master anything more than a basic 3 finger roll.
12.
Mind you, I don't see how you'd know it was an SB401... http://www.ebay.co.u...C0AAOSwwPhWjpkp
Sometimes there is a sticker inside the cavity with a model number or series number.
13. Prefect recording amp? Sounds like a schoolboy error to me.
14. Here's a wild idea - how about we hold off posting unsubstantiated rumours, gossip, conjecture, unattributed emails and allegations from former endorsers until we actually have some substantial facts to discuss?
15. Me too - I've just bought a Seagull Grand Sunburst GT from Wunjo's , a tiny parlour guitar with a 14-fret neck to the body and a much bigger sound than it has any right to have. Marvellous.
16. It might be worth taking the top off in that case. It's been a while since I opened up my lm2 and I can't remember if there are any more fuses inside the amp.
17. There is a slow blow fuse in a fuse holder under the AEC connector on the back of the amp. You could test that to see if it has blown and if so replace it. If it blows again immediately, I'm sorry to day that an expensive repair may be on the cards. Is it still under warranty?
18. Keep the 900 and if it farts, turn the master down.
19. You are pretty much stuck with the Roland lead unless you want to build one yourself. I never had a lead fail but they are more flimsy than instrument leads and need to be looked after.
20. I built the pedalparts ts808 kit which was excellent. Did the straight kit for guitar. There is also a much smaller version without buffers which might leave enough room for a blend circuit, which pedalparts also have. Talk to the diy effects thread for modding ideas there are some very capable builders there.
21. My Duesenberg is 30". I think chowny has just brought out a 34" version.
22. One technique I have seen people use is to make a box and then cut it in half.
23.
I keep meaning to build one of the Blue Box clones, with the octave switch. Maybe I'll pick one up after Xmas.
My son built the poodleparts kit which works spectacularly well with guitar, haven't tried it on Bass.
