Musicman Sabre Bass correct case?
clarkpegasus4001 replied to clarkpegasus4001's topic in General Discussion
Some useful info here - basically as per similar era Stingray - where the guy mentions other makers of the basses after CLF it means Jackson, and subsequently Ernie Ball. Musicman and CLF fell out big time over instrument manufacturing quality issues. It seems relatively rare to find pre EBMMs in original cases. The teardrop ones seem to command quite a price without a bass in them!! http://forums.ernieb...-sting-ray.html
Thank you for the link. So it could be that the case I need is an oblong box standard a bit like my Rickenbacker case then, with no logo. The problem is that there aren't any old ones on the market. I may just have to get a later case for it if that's all that is available. . -
Musicman Sabre Bass correct case?
clarkpegasus4001 replied to clarkpegasus4001's topic in General Discussion
I looked online for an example with no luck. I believe that the case would have the "Musicman" logo across the whole of the front rather than the now standard "letterbox" in the top right corner - I used to have one which I sold to SparkyMark IIRC.
Thanks, I've seen one with the "letterbox" in the corner but not one as you describe. I wasn't sure if they used the standard oblong type without lettering or not, a bit like the Fender cases. if I can't find one i'll have to get the "letterbox" type. Thanks for your reply. -

Hi all. I've just bought a 1980 Musicman Sabre bass. The bass has come in a quality gig bag but I would prefer a proper period correct case for it. Does anybody have any pictures of the correct 1980 period case for this bass please? just so I get the correct one. I'm assuming a period correct Stingray case would be the same for my bass? Also, iIf anybody has one for sale at a reasonable price please get in touch via PM thanks. Many thanks in advance fellow Basschatters. Tony C.

Sorry for the late posting, but our covers band Synner just played the Rock and Bike festival on Saturday. Apart from the fact it was a bit of a mud bath, what fantastic gig! We were followed by my mates in Sack Sabbath who stole the show IMO, with guest ex-W.A.S.P guitarist Chris Holmes. The headline band on Stage 2 were also friends of mine Rainbow Rising. I must say, I was very impressed with the supplied Ampeg rig. All vale head, with a 6X10 cab, both weighing an absolute ton, but what a sound! I would love one, but i'd need a crane to lift it! lol. Mega weekend!
They were on the line up at knebworth in 79
That's right, they were playing as I arrived. In fact they were near the end of their set as I recall.

Not er....exactly last night, but my last gig was a blast. I stood in for the bass player in Sack Sabbath (Black Sabbath tribute) last week at MFN Club in Nottingham. Great turnout and a great time had by all three bands who played. I only had one rehearsal so it was a bit testing! lol Here is a bit of footage for your amusement........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoJLuE7nPXM

Francis Dunnery last night, cracking gig.
clarkpegasus4001 replied to tonybassplayer's topic in General Discussion
I've been lucky enough to see Francis Dunnery playing with It Bites and one of his solo gigs too, he's a wonderful guitarist. I also saw him once when I was on holiday in Rhodes Town. He was wearing a black leather jacket (looked like the same as the one on the Once Around The World album cover)......on the beach front! -
Myself, ("Diamond" Geezer Butler) will be covering for my mate Dan Bird (Geezer "I Can't Believe It's Not" Butler) on bass in the Black Sabbath tribute band Sack Sabbath, this Saturday. On Saturday 31st May, 3 of the UK's finest tribute bands, Sack Sabbath, Hi-On Maiden and The Thin Lizzy Experience will rock the MFN Club to it's rafters! Tickets are on sale now by post from Russell Saxton via a Paypal payment to , in person from Zebra Muzik, 336 Nottingham Road, Ilkeston, or from MFN Club, Shipley Gate, Eastwood, Nottingham. Tickets are £10 in advance (£12 on the door), £5 for under 16s, plus it's FREE camping! This gig will be an epic event not to be missed!
Of course you don't have to be in a trib exclusively, as Tony C pointed out he was doing other projects at the same time as the Budgie trib so if you happen to pick a more obscure band that you mainly do for th elove of it then with the right logistics the various band members can still do other covers or originals bands and maintain a full diary. I think some people might actually prefer this, I would. The thought of doing just 1 trib act all the time and nothing else wouldn't keep me interested for very long, probably go a bit mental actually.
Well i'm not actually playing live in any tribute band now. I'm only doing a covers band although I do have a dep gig next week for a Black Sabbath tribute band. I agree with the points you are putting across here.
