I've been selling some of my old vinyl collection and have done so on Ebay, no experience of other sites. So far I've not encountered any of the morons that you speak of Maybe vinyl collectors tend to fall in to the decent bracket.

[/quote] I experienced exactly this when working on a customer's Yamaha bass a while back. When the first crack occurred, I really thought the rod had snapped but actually all was good. I did then take the nut right off and applied some grease before proceeding.

I mostly play with a pick and haven't found it difficult on a Jazz.

I've no experience with Ashdown cabs but have to agree that my BF cabs really do sound better, to me, when driven a bit harder.

You know how it is with some people? If it's easier not to put it back on, then why bother. I can relate to it annoying you

I've done a fair few pub and club gigs with one Barefaced Big Baby and GK Fusion 500. Certainly been up to the job.

Good find and what an excellent price.

It's the way of the bass sometimes, it does vary from venue to venue and depends on a number of factors, bodies in the room, furnishings, surfaces etc. You need to take note of the comments though, particularly if they are from people whose judgement you trust.

I use a very similar set up to you. GK Barefaced BB2 and Super Compact. Unlike others I tend to not have the gain up high on this amp, my preference is for the master up higher. Most of the controls at 12 o'clock, with the mids boosted up a bit more. Switches on top off.
