  1. Hey there gicut. What was the problem then, cab or amp? I've got the shuttle six teamed with two 2 x 10" mark bass cabs. Been using it for about a year now. It has been faultless, apart from my first gig withit, when I was using my active fender. The signal kept breaking up when playing hard. Once I had reduced the gain and increased the master volume, all was ok. Deffo needs setting differently for active basses, I have the gain set alot higher for my passive jazz. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but just thought it might be of help. Cheers Gary.
  2. How could anyone not think it a brilliant idea? Sounds like a winner to me.
  3. That looks just lovely. Well done on the refurb, time well spent. All the best, Gary
  4. We played in the grounds of a church at the weekend and finished with .............Monster Mash, just toe curlingly awful.
  5. Thanks chaps, as always most helpful. Cheers, all the best, Gary
  6. A mate of mine has offered me one of these basses and I know nothing about them, I know I could do a search on the net, but would appreciate the opinion of forum members. What I do know: Alan Woody Rumblekat signature bass. Korean built. Hollow body. Perfect condition. Original hard case. What I don't know: Value. Build quality. Playability etc. I was thinking of getting it for my daughter, who is struggling a bit with the neck length of her squier jazz. Any pointers greatly appreciated. All the best, Gary
  7. all the best mate and good luck.
  8. Welcome back, it's so good when the enthusiasm returns and you just want to play again. Enjoy. All the best, Gary
  9. I'm currently using the shuttle six with two mark bass 2 x 10" cabs. I've been really pleased with the set up, plenty of comments and compliments on the sound.
  10. Feel for you mate, real downer. Maybe post some photos and let us know what part of the world they went missing from. Hope you get them back, all the best.
  11. I have been extremely pleased with Fender rumble 15. My daughter wanted a practice amp for her birthday, I couldn't get her a fender at the time, so went for the line 6 model, (can't rememeber model number, but it was about £100). Got to say I'm impressed with it, plus it has some usefull effects: octaver being one.
  12. I'm sure there was a clip on here fairly recently, showing Chris Squire playing a jazz and as someone mentioned a few posts back, making it sound like a ric.
  13. Hi Chris. The Anglers Arms with the band Mice with Glasses
  14. Thanks. It went really well. The nerves evaporated as I was setting up. No sound check, just straight into it. Fortunately started with a straight forward one (Teenage kicks). Although it was mostly a fairly modern set list, Mustang Sally was in there, accompanied of course by girls from the audience. I really enjoyed the gig, don't think I made any real clangers, a couple of mistakes, fortunately got back on track quickly, and felt that I did ok. Plenty of praise from the band and another booking with them later in the year. Wateroftyne: Glad yours went well. All the best, Gary
  15. Got a depp tonight in teddington.. and I'm feeling nervous. I haven't suffered with this in years. a good few hours to go and I'm already suffering clammy hands, butterflies and that dread that I will forget the numbers. . I've had a rehearsal with the band, good bunch of chaps and they were pleased with my playing, so why the nerves? Not sure whether to carry on practising this morning or just put the bass away, relaxe and think about anything other than bass playing. All the best Gary. .....if it goes well I will post in the "how was your gig last night" section. If it doesn't then I will sit in the corner, contemplating and swaying gently, whilst weeping in to my cup of tea.
  16. Same as Chris B, belt buckle worn somewhere in the region of right hip.
  17. have a bump from a fellow wal owner, can't believe it's not gone yet. Wish I could afford it mate
  18. this thread has got me all jittery and in a cold sweat. I get very nervous around stanley knives since an incident a few years back, when I managed to open up my wrist with one of those carpet cutting blades. The result was a large gash with veins, arteries etc. all on show. Injections into the wound, lots of stitches and a plaster cast to straighten my hand/wrist, which had gone all claw like from tendon damage. Stupid thing is I was just too lazy to get the correct tool for the job. A wire cutter was needed to snip through some cable tidies, but I chose the stanley option to save me going back to my tool box. Lesson learnt the hard way. Can't stand the sight of blood any more, Casualty and Holby City are a def no no these days.
  19. Unlike a fair few of the forum members, I love the sound from my mark bass cabs. I use two 2 x 10" cabs and a genz benz head.
  20. Thanks to you all for the info and pointers. All the best, Gary.
  21. Hi. I'm working my way through learning a new set for some upcoming depps. One of the numbers is Starlight by Muse, which has been quite an enjoyable challenge, mostly due to the unusual chord progessions. Anyway just wondering about making my sound a bit more authentic, so it would be appreciated if someone could shed some light on how the bass sound is achieved on the record. Just curious really, as not sure that I can justify the expense of an effects unit for one number. All the best Gary.
  22. Amazing the difference some decent pics make, I'm tempted
  23. Good luck to you sir, well done. Hope you enjoy
  24. I just hate the set up these days. Played an open air gig on saturday, just a town centre fun day. The set up went on for about two hours, this was accompanied for the duration by one particular guitarist showing off his many riffs and solos and just generally annoying the hell out of punters and band members alike. Guess I wouldn't mind the long set up too much if it made for a good sound, but the sound from fold back speakers was just terrible, which caused major problems for the drummer and myself once the singer ditched the set list and launched in to numbers that we hadn't even rehearsed. Then for the last set a drunken trout from the audience was invited up to provide backing vocals. Of course we could hear her perfectly, the problem being, that although she thought she was a star, she actually made a noise like a cat having it's tail nailed to a tree. Oh joy.
