1.
Dave, goes under the forum name of Obbm
Seconded. Truly excellent quality cables and none of the hocus pocus marketing flimflam.
 2. What about something like this in the appropriate colour? I've used it on car paintwork with good results covering light scratches and swirl marks, can't see why it wouldn't work on a bass http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B001FOLMZM/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1452114548&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=turtle+wax+colour+magic&dpPl=1&dpID=41pxxKkLfYL&ref=plSrch
 3.
Check the two 'duff' speakers for signs of this - they can be repaired (if you are lucky)...
But (to the OP) don't make the mistake I did on my first ever speaker repair, don't use superglue. Use something which dries less brittle so the repair lasts...
 4.
Not sure how wearing earplugs (as I do occasionally) makes people turn things up? I turn mine up until I am level with the drums and guitars. With earplugs on everything gets quieter, not just me, so the balance is the same....
Exactly this. So long as the earplugs attenuate reasonably evenly across the entire frequency range everything gets quieter, they won't single out just one instrument. If the wearer complains that they can't hear themselves with plugs in they're either a) using the wrong type of plugs (or filter) or b} using it as an excuse to turn up for egos sake.
 5.
...Yet again, I have failed to embed - what a tragic loser https://www.youtube....h?v=ZxT3jtBzhHQ
Just remove the 's' from 'https'
 6. Could be a torn speaker, or a cone coming away from the surround maybe. Does it do it at all volumes and on all notes/worse on some more than others?
 7.
Weirdly not showing the TBird sold out on the mobile site but sold out on the main site.
Yep, but when you try to buy it as I just did it goes into your basket, but when you click on your basket to go and pay it days your basket is empty. Bugger, really fancied that one too!
 8. I've used one of these with excellent results, still have it in my gig bag as a plan B https://www.studiospares.com/Microphones/DI-Boxes/MTR-DI-3-Active-Mono-DI-Box_401301.htm It's a clean sounding DI, very well made and it has an input attenuator in case your fx out is too hot. Price is very reasonable even at the normal price but Studiospares have an offer on at the moment.
 9. MTR DI-3 might be what you're looking for. It can be placed in the FX loop if your amp has one and has a 3 way attenuation switch which will cater for the hotter output you'll get from an FX loop's line level source rather than the much lower instrument level DI'S normally handle. I used to use mine like that with excellent results, the only thing you won't then get is any coloration your speakers add but you will get all your FX and modeling assuming those are present at the FX loop output. It's an excellent DI, very well made, has an uncoloured sound and on offer at Studiospares at an excellent price https://www.studiospares.com/Microphones/DI-Boxes/MTR-DI-3-Active-Mono-DI-Box_401301.htm And if course you can also use it in the more traditional way as an additional source to the foh if your engineer wants to blend a mic signal with DI. MTR have a good pedigree, they're run by Tony Reeves, a bassist who played with Coliseum, Greenslade and many jazz orientated groups. No affiliation, I could be wrong but I just thought I'd mention it as I don't think MTR are particularly well known https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Reeves
 10.
before replacing the cap for a "bigger" one you should find out what's causing them to blow in the first place. reinforcing that cap could make another component the weakest link in the chain and consequently blow up (and it could be more expensive to replace than a cap).
This... At best, replace with one with the same voltage handling and capacitance values in case the cap that blew was simply defective. If it blows again you know you have an issue somewhere in the circuit prior to it that you'll need to have investigated.
 11. Album number one, track number one, the first sounds you hear are from the one and only Chris Squire. Perhaps not the greatest bass intro but rather appropriate that his was the first thing heard from Yes, considering how much he was ingrained in the whole Yes sound Geddy Lee solo
 12.
Do you look at her often?
Guilty pleasure...
 13.
Those threads ages ago when the Big Beef Chief got banned over and over again. Until he was no more.
Oh god yes! I still can't look at Carol Vordemman without remembering one of his more slanderous posts
 14. Late to the party but I love the Ozric's. Probably too late for the op but Become the Other is a great first start, very accessible imho and a great album
 15. Quite like that...it's not going to work in most bands/songs I guess but something Muse-like would be a great setting for it.

 17.
I wonder if anyone could come up with the equivalent of a Hipshot drop-D tuner head for all the remaining heads as well so you could flip all 4 or 5 tuners a full step and back again reliably? they probably influence each other too much or mechanically get in each others way maybe?
Michael Manring has them on his Zon(s) so they do exist. He also has them at the bridge. I don't know if they were custom made though.
 18. I'm sure someone will correct me but I'm not aware of any pedal that will reliably detune and won't demand a pristine technique to help it track well. If that is the case maybe the better option would be for you to relearn the songs higher up the neck but still a half/full tone down and use an octave pedal to add the depth of sound back.
 19.
I'd expect this to be a bit iffy... but it depends on your definition of iffy...
Me too, most definitely, but it's unlikely to be any worse than my old Ampeg BA115 combo we're using as a vocal monitor at the moment lol! I have the Bose controller eq points from the net and will approximate them with an eq pedal. It'll do until funds allow for a proper solution
 20.
TDW (#13)....I recall that Bose did something similar in the 80's...a lot of little (5"?) speakers in a box on a pole, with a controller. Someone help me out here-I can't recall what the thing was called?
Bose 802. The controller was basically just a preset eq to get the best out of the speaker, and amp iirc OT but we have a pair that we're going to try as floor monitors with a Yamaha power amp + eq pedals until we can afford a proper monitoring solution.
 21. Spend a couple of quid on a wrist sweatband and the problem with Ric binding hurting your wrists goes away
 22. Chris Squire, Safe (Canon Song). The end is utterly haunting. Created by placing two basses back to back, playing one (not plugged in) and having the resonances passed through the bodies to the other which was plugged in causing the strings to vibrate in sympathy which is what was recorded. Yes - Starship Trooper Kate Bush - Breathing Yes (again. I know...) - Awaken All About Eve - In The Meadow (odd one this, sometimes it does nothing for me and others I get the shivers)
 23. Hope it helps Happy Jack is right too though, the eq isn't as wide ranging as some (most?) amps, but I also think it's a cab dependent. My Tech Soundsystems 4x12 has no problem delivering a ton of extra bass from my OBT500 much to my guitarists innards disapproval lol. But I also have the tweeter off and naturally the amps treble then doesn't do too much. But many other obt users do say the eq doesn't do too much which makes me think it depends on the characteristics of what it's paired with to some degree.
