  1. I've seen a pattern of landlords coming into pubs, putting in their redundancy money or life savings to upgrade the fittings and purchase the stock to last about two years as the rent is too high. They then default, and the freeholder pubco simply move on to the next one.
  2. From the look of it I would say a 1983 maple shaker filled with dried Alaska variety peas. From the markings I think it was manufactured in a California factory ( much better than the modern ones which are made in a Vietnam sweatshop)
  3. Ive been looking at the same deal. What are the cabs like for weight as im looking for a rig that's not too heavy to transport.
  4. I bought a mini recently and fit in my 2x10 and 1x15 cabs plus amp and extra case in the back with seats dropped down - the bass is the front passenger. Big plus is that I don't have to stop off to pick up the singer on the way to gigs now!!
  5. Agree Mozzer is a genius in many ways but still a tw@t
  6. Love the Smiths and Andy Rourke. His bass playing got me interested and was a big influence on me picking up a bass. Have enjoyed playing This Charming Man in the past in a pub band (pretty unusual to find a singer willing to give it a go!). Stll think Morrisey is a bit of a tw@t though.
  7. Priorities isn't it. I've been married 22 years and a bass player for 30 years but at the end of last year immediately dropped out of a band when i sensed that the rehersal schedule wasn't working for the family life. Found a great new band now that fits the home life. Happy all round!
  8. It's about time we (as consumers) stand up to these situations and vote with our money. These 'rise from the ashes' companies benefit nobody. No custom from me in the future.
  9. I'm torn - I live near Pompey but raised in Southampton, so a Saints fan.
  10. Do you still have the original white pickguard?
  11. I commute to London (Bank in the City) most weekdays and live in Horndean near Pompey - let me know if I can help.
  12. This thread has so much potential but years of diversity and inclusion training and regulation is clicking in and blocking all comment
  13. Hello - coincidence - I was in your rehearsal studio for the first time on Monday night!
  14. Agree on the points made about Nevada in Portsmouth - last time I went in there it felt like I was troubling a member of staff by wanting to buy something - is it just bass players that get rubbish service there? How do these places stay in business in the current climate!?
  15. I've been looking for something in the same sort of area for a while also. It's metal and/ or guys with no commitments at all who want availability seven nights a week for rehearsal or gigs! No decent jam nights locally that I'm aware of?
  16. Sorry, can't help with the tab but just need to say that reckon this is best acdc track ever!!
  17. I had a local music shop that included the service of issuing two receipts if needed - one real and the other showing a smaller sanctioned amount 'for the wife'.
  18. Just carry a spare set of strings and a spare lead - has worked for me for 25 years
