1. Not my bag personally, and agree that resale will be an issue, but if you want it go for it!
2. that five looks nice, reckon they'll sell really well with that pricing.
3. in the words of Harry Hill, 'there's only one way to find out...FIGHT!'
4. i shall in future too - not that i'll be buying any more on Ebay of course....
5.
I never sell a bass without setting it up with new strings (cheap addario's) and giving it a good clean but i too expect to have this work everytime i buy a used bass. Come to think of it even when i bought new basses i had to set them up and restring them! It's all part of the way people take care of their material and how they are used to play it, for the guy selling your bass he was happy to gig it in that conditions so he thought it was good and ready for stage!
That's very true mate - maybe i just have higher standards than some?
6.
So you paid £250 for a bass unseen, then moan about it? No it wasn't me selling it but I had it watched on the bay. From the trivial amount of 'work' you describe having to do it, sounds to me like you got let off light! I expect to do at least that to any bass bought secondhand. Just my opinion. Cheerz, John
Appreciate your opinion John. I don't share it, but thanks.
7. Hi folks, Well, my little Hohner is NOW a nice bass, but i fell foul of the previous owners 'excellent condition' and 'ready to gig' etc comments. Bass turned up....what a hound. Couple of hours of cleaning everything (frets, fretboard, pots, hardware etc), restringing (even after being told there's plenty of life left in the old strings!!!!!! - erm, nah!) and setting up soon made it quite a nice bass, but had to get a luthier pal of mine to sort out the neck as the truss rod felt tight to me (although he says he's had plenty of success with tighter!) Anyway, it's a great backup/stop gap until i can get some Essex Graphite back in my life (once Xmas is paid for etc) I'd recommend these basses to anyone wanting some cheap and cheerful headless action. I have some 35 - 95 Trace Elliots waiting to go on the bass after the 40 -100 Elites are worn out as they feel a bit too stiff for my kind of playing. Happy slappin' all Graeme
8. ...and they say you can't buy class?
9. Oh, and Boris Johnsons brother.
10. Hi all Love this thread. Mine are Neil Murray, Muff Winwood, Busted, Lisa Scott Lee, Kezi Silverstone, Dave Courtney, Dean Gaffney...the list is endless...actually, it's not :-) Cheers Graeme
11. Mine hum slightly when i'm close to my amp - other than that, never been a problem and they sound amazing in the mix band wise. Never also been an issue when solo'd
12. Great band - whenever i see live hip-hop / RnB etc drummers, they always have the sound (well tuned kit/sharp snare etc) that i love
13. nope - and possibly it's in the wrong area of the forum?
14.
The Korean stuff still looks cheap and tatty and will no doubt sound and play as such. They are quite simply, not great - though their price really has rocketed over the past few years!
Based on????? Mine (Korean Corvette) plays as good as basses twice it's price.
15.
That anniversary Streamer is lush, I don't care whether the specs are wrong.
+1
16. I think you'll find a large percentage of players on here started with a Squier bass of some description, so i don;t think you've bought the wrong bass as such. They are great instruments to get going in your playing career, and they will always serve as a great bass or even backup bass when you may decide to purchase another instrument. As for Laguna, one of my local stores in Orpington, Kent has a funky looking Laguna bass in store (cannot see video as on work infratructure). Happy playing
17. we tend to match tunes together in sort of mini-medleys, i.e, we do Shaking All Over into I've Got a Feeling (Black Eyed Peas) into Mama Told Me by The Stereophonics. Works a treat and keeps things interesting
18. The Star is not my thing, but i like the look of the Pro Series Thumb in white - looks ace.
19.
Sorry to be pedantic but that's a Level 42 30th Anniversary Kingbass
There's always one cracking bass matey
20. Cool. Goes to show how the same bass can feel totally different with a few tweaks!
21. i'm trying to grow my mullet back!
22. Great collection mate
23.
I love the design but can never imagine playng anything like that down the Nags Head!!
+1
