F# is the stand out key out for me. It's the note my ears ring in. I can actually tune my bass off it's drone in a quiet room.

I grew up near Deeside but was only a kid at the time. It's amazing to me all the great bands that played there - Rush, Bob Marley and The Wailers.. I only went there to ice skate! Glad you saw them though 👍

Oh it's edited well no doubt. It's hard to explain to be honest.. It sounds like just for those small parts the bass is dialled in differently and has a different air to it like it's played at a different time. Hard to say. I can feel it is all I can say. Within the tune itself it's undetectable. Punching in is common though. If you listen to the isolated bass of Flea on Under The Bridge, it's quite noticeable that he punches in for the outro unison passages with John towards the end. Geddy's a total hero of mine and it doesn't matter to me that he may have punched in some fills at the time because after the creation of the album he burns it live. What I find interesting is that maybe he composed those fills after listening to the track, building each time, to add the perfect part. God knows if that makes sense! Do bloody tired right now.. As you were.. 🤘

Awesome! 👍 I never quite appreciated how on top of the beat he is on it, almost 'Rush'ing (sorry 🙏) Growling tone aside, YYZ always sounds so tight and pristine almost. It's brilliant to hear him absolutely attacking his bass with a punk-like attitude. The kind of attitude I'd usually associate with Flea or something. Anyone know what right hand technique he was into here? This was before the move to his flemenco thing right? Interestingly, those killer fills sound like punch-ins to me. Fabulous to sneak a peek behind the wizard's curtain. Thanks for posting!

KT Tunstall has a brilliant all female band. Great live stuff on YouTube. The Big Moon are great, all female again. Saw them supporting the Pixies last year. Mr. Tea and The Minions. Brilliant and great role models for kids. None really proggy of course but all good proper bands and definitely an 'in' for her. 👍

Apart from the wrong photo 😆, they've changed the fingerboard radius for the new one. The old one had a 12" radius like a real Stingray, the new one has a 9.5" like a modern Fender.

I played a Stingray Special in Wunjos last year. I'm not sure what they call the neck shape or profile but I call it "perfect".

My "Excalibur" would be a 1965 Precision so I'd keep it, love it, use it for the usual as well as being my beater and beach bass. No fear! If I won the Jazz I'd ask the new owner of the P to do a swapsies..

Oh I love that! I remember seeing the first batch pop up on Thomann and then quickly sell out. I've got an all black MIJ Jazz Bass Special and one of these would make a killer sibling for it! Another HB fan here. I've got a shorty P which was only 60 quid when I bought it a few years ago. I still haven't had to do anything to it. It's still got the original strings on it! It's the cheapest bass I've ever bought yet the only one I've never had to fiddle with regarding set up/ intonation etc. Still feels and sounds great.

Could be an innocent Covid19 precaution? Most places don't want to touch cash at the moment. I actually received my first Reverb purchase on Friday and all went well. Different circumstances to this though as it was shipped from Japan so there was a very comprehensive electronic trail involved.

I'm a massive Rush fan too and same regarding Yes before I heard them. But.. Genesis?* Is this where I'm heading?! Dear God! What have I become?!! * Genesis to me is Phil Collins and co wearing suits, being everything I hated about crap pop music in the 80s which I obviously rebelled against! 😄

Down the funk rabbit hole mostly 😉 I saw Yes in Bassist magazine (remember that?) many years ago and the photos of their stage attire made me run the other way to be honest! 😄

How, in all my near 30 years of playing bass, I've never listened to this band I'll never know! The pick is out!

Check out the Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar. It's a medium scale (32") so a happy halfway between the basses you mentioned. It's certainly piqued my interest anyway...
