  1. Thanks Lozz. Was really surprised how great it sounded. Probably shouldn’t have been!
  2. Used the Studio Stack at my jam night yesterday evening. Sounded fantastic through both cabs (and a SD studio compressor). Really impressive!
  3. Place small towel on top of your amp to dry your hands in between songs. Simples. You’re welcome.
  4. Congratulations Ander on your fantastic news! I’m not usually a massive fan of Ricks but yours is really beautiful! GLWTS & GLWF mate
  5. Ok. It’s now the end of the weekend so I’m now going to withdraw this beautiful combo.
  6. Just sold my Ashdown ABM 500, so no need to sell this apart from gaining a bit more space. Going to give it this weekend and then withdraw it on Monday if it hasn’t sold by then.
  7. 53 isn’t 23 but it’s also not 83. You still have plenty of years left in you to play the music you love. Don’t write yourself off just because you are over 50. I’m 51 and play in heavy/classic rock band that’s getting very popular (locally). The singer and guitarist are 27 & 28 respectively. Having the best time ever! So can you. This not a boast post but some hope post. Good luck for the future!
  8. Thank you. Yes it was sold as just the cabinet with the speaker. Somebody had taken the amp part out and just left the wire and a strange (to me) white connector on the end. I don’t think it was the original speaker either as it was an 80w Celestine. decided to have a cheeky punt on eBay. I won it for £17 plus £11 postage plus a fiver for a dual speakon connector. So £33 total. The way I look at is, even if I accidentally blow the speaker, I can use it as a riser to lift the combo off the floor to hear it better. Looks pretty cool too. Original photos below.
  9. I very recently acquired a fantastic 20th anniversary series ABM 600. Using it mainly for my heavy rock covers band. What a great head, especially when twined with my Super Twin cab. I also not long ago picked up an Ashdown Studio 12 combo (for my jam nights). A few days later I saw on eBay that someone was selling a studio 12 combo (minus the amp) so I took a punt on it. Yesterday I finally I got around to fixing it. Added a dual speakon jack socket, moved the feet and grill badge as I need it turned 90 degrees for the combo to sit squarely on top. So now have a modular combo rig too. It stands even taller than the 600/super twin set up.
  10. Andy Irvine is a fantastic bass player. Top bloke too.
  11. Up for sale is my wonderful, original chrome Ashdown ABM 500. It comes in an SKB x series rack case. Amazing 500 watt hybrid bass amp. Valve preamp and solid state back end. Perfect combination IMHO. The only reason for selling is that I recently acquired a 20th anniversary ABM 600 from Anders from here. More than happy to keep this as a back up. I personally think this is prettier than my new amp. It’s very shiny and I’m shallow! 😂 Always get great comments about my tone. I believe this is an original UK made one. It was serviced by Guy at Ashdown just over 3 years ago. I have replaced the gain knob/switch about 6 months ago but other than that it hasn’t missed a beat. Looks great, sounds even better. Collection only/preferred as amps can get damaged in transit and wouldn’t want to risk it.
  12. Might also be worth looking at getting something like the Boss GE7B so you can cut and boost certain frequencies which might be creating the said muddiness.
  13. This is a great bass combo. I’ve just bought 2 amps the last month or so, so it’s now looking for a new home.
  14. I agree. I am an Ashdown convert. Bought an ABM 500 a few years back (which they serviced FOC), recently a Studio 210 combo and today an ABM600 20th anniversary edition with cover and FS4.
  15. Just bought a lovely Ashdown ABM 600 (20th Anniversary edition) with cover and FS4 foot switch. We had lots of excellent communication throughout and he even delivered to me (due to some earlier logistic problems). An absolute top fellow and a pleasure to deal with. A++. Thank you Ander!
  16. Thanks Ander. You are a legend. He drove the amp to mine from quite away away. Fit a cracking deal on an ABM600 with cover and foot switch. Top man!
  17. To be fair, I changed the preamp valve on my old OBT. Really easy to do. 10 min job. 1 min to change the valve, 9 mins to unscrew it. If I can do it, anyone can 😂
