1. My new love.A thinline Telecaster shaped body with a Bassculture single coil pickup. Satin finished neck with lightly rolled fretboard edges that feels absolutely great. 2. I was waiting for her to tell him that she played bass on the first Kiss albums.
3. It was packed in a large styrofoam box that was completely wrapped in sellotape. Styrofoam offers excellent protection against shocks and the sellotape holds it together, I think it is a good and cheap way to pack guitars. It took just over five weeks from the moment that I ordered it. Shipping by China Post was free; China Post is cheap but very slow and their tracking system sucks. They are very slow with updates and it ends when the bass is handed over to the airline.
4. Look what the postman delivered here today: A Chinese interpretation of the 4004LK, Lemmy's bass. Plays well, sounds good, looks good, I am a happy camper.
5. They were optimistic on his Facebookpage yesterday:
WILKO LATEST - OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Doctors caring for Wilko at Addenbrooke's Hospital have said they are extremely pleased with the way he has recovered post op despite the magnitude and complexity of his nine hour operation. Wilko has been complication free so far and has made what they describe as 'rapid progress'. Although still early days in his recovery, doctors are very encouraged by the extent of his progress. As always, Wilko, his family and friends thank everyone for their well wishes and support at this time.
6.
where is the block neck option??
That option is only available when you choose the vintage Jazz bass.
7. Two P pickups and a camouflaged Model One near the neck should cover all bases.
8. Another vote for Viacheslav Sedov, I want a contrabass balalaika now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV66fWWzs2c
9. Nice review, I have one too and agree with almost everything you have to say about this bass. The Fidelitron pickup is not quite punchy enough for my taste, I tried other strings and am now thinking about putting a TV Jones Thundermag.in it. You say that the bass is active; that is a mistake. I opened the control cavity and there is nothing there but two pots and a capacitor.
10. Precisions have 20 frets.
11. Here is a Youtube video of Jens Ritter at NAMM posing as a journalist visiting the company that makes those copies. He has a sense of humour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARyVweFJH5A
12. Companies have to charge VAT when the goods stay in Europe, they can not sell you anything tax-free then.
13. You won't have to pay any other costs or duties when you buy from a EU country. Sorry if you can not resist a Peterbuilt anymore because of that.
14. My guess would be money is the driving force. Can you imagine how Paul McCartney felt when Michael Jackson bought the rights to all the Beatles songs? McCartney had to pay royalties to play his own songs and watch Michael Jackson become even richer than he already was. You can hardly call that fair.
15. Don't know about those two but I can recommend a G&L Tribute L-2000. You should be able to find a used one within your budget, they have two humbuckers that you will probably like and are very good quality basses. You will be amazed at the sounds that you can get from them.

17. I am not a fan of the clubs onTalkbass. Fine if it fits in with your herding instinct, but in general those threads become so long that it is next to impossible to find the information that you need in them. I rather have it in bite-sized chunks as it is over here.
18. I bought this yesterday in a shop in Amsterdam where it had been gathering dust. You don't find many new paisley basses around anymore. I love the sound, I think it has more presence than a "modern" Precision with split pickup and can get very raunchy. 19. I have bought some stuff online from Session Musik in Frankfurt, the pictures on their site make it look like their shop is worth a visit: http://www.session.de/music/filialen/frankfurt/ There are no bass shops in Amsterdam; Edwin van Huik's Bass Connection is close and they have a lot of interesting and vintage stuff: http://www.connectionbult.com/wp/
20. Fender tried that, there were too many (American) companies that made copies for a long time then so they lost the case.
21. You can get Nordstrand pickups from Pedals and Parts, the parts shop of De Gier Guitars: http://www.pedalsandparts.com/en/17-pickups-for-bass Sander de Gier uses hem in his P basses and always has them in stock. Excellent service there, I can recommend them.
22.
And how many people would opt for a big semi-solid to play on a disco or funk track, but it worked for Gary King.
It may look out of place in a funk setting but I had an epiphany last week playing some funk lines on my Gretsch hollowbody. Strung with roundwounds it has a twang that makes it great for disco and funk.
23. The thread on Talkbass is 20+ pages of guessing and speculation, there is no real information to be found there.
24. A CarlThompsonMusicmanWarwickJazzenBacker?
