1. I like black blocks on maple. But pearl on maple just looks tacky.
2.
Here's my new rig, Markbass TTE500 head and two NY151RJ cabs. Tube pre, tube compressor, tube eq, analog power supply. Very loud, and very tubey!
That looks fantastic. Nice one
3. Done I have just been learning some Smiths bass lines, your book would of been handy
4. Pete Academy has, see below http://basschat.co.uk/topic/175997-ashdown-abm1000/
5.
That's even better! Surely the fretless one should be the Imprecision Bass... Well, it would if I was playing it!
Thats what I think every time I 'try' to play it.
6. Shuker?
7.
nice work
Cheers

We're back...

11. I am seriously gutted. He was such a massive influence to me.
12. You just got to love a thumb bass. Well done
13. Cheers for that. I was thinking about getting one of these, but after spending a few years with these new fangled lightweight amps I always felt there was something missing from the sound, and thought maybe I should go back to a heavyweight. I think I ought to really try one out.
14. Just had my second Basschat deal with Martin. Once again, a perfect gent to deal with. I thought i was early getting to the agreed meeting place but Martin was already there The cabs were in pristine condition and looked like they had just been made. A top Basschatter and a pleasure to deal with. Cheers.
15. I own a Roger Waters P which I am guessing is the same as these with a few hardware changes. Great bass, proper neck.
16. Cracking amps, I miss mine. Sounds like thats a superb stack. Well done and get some pics up
17. Liking this one at the mo.
18.
they were invariably amps with a big lump of iron in them, and they had *something*- authority, richness, response, whatever - that the lightweights I've used didn't have. I'm now wondering if there's something about the ICEPower module they all use that just doesn't sit right with me. Who knows?
I know exactly where you're coming from there, I have been considering going back to a heavy weight recently.
19. All the best mate, you're taking over bass duties from me. Cracking band and a great bunch of lads to gig with. Its a blast
20. Its really worth sending Alex @ Barefaced an email. He is super helpful with getting you where you need to be. I run a Dubster, huge low end shove, it'll take 1000 watts all day, with a surprising amount of detail in the mids and highs. Along with Reggae and Ska I play a lot of Punk and it works great, it does not sparkle up top but for me, I dont want sparkle.
21. That is so frustrating, and some seriously crap luck.
22.
If RIC stopped being so precious about their 'hand made American' basses and introduced a decent, mass-produced budget line that bore the 'sacred' Rickenbacker name they would make an absolute killing and take away a lot of the reason why newer copies exist.
A very good point that. I wouldn't buy one though. They play like planks to me!!
