1.
Probably the only big USA manufacturer of basses and guitars that I trust to get virtually everything if not everything perfect.
Didn't you have a horror story a few years back with a MM Classic order?
2.
According to the specs the Roscoe neck is 47.6mm. So a bit wider than the Sire, same as a precision v. It might be worth a look at the precision V given it should be in a shop somewhere.
Surprised by that... Having said that I'm not entirely convinced that the raw specs tell the whole story in cases like this. I've always been a stickler for 19mm string spacing at the bridge... or so I thought... I've come to realise it's the ergonomics of the bass as a whole that matters, not just measurement of one specific area. The Laklands and the Roscoe Beck (and my ACG 5) have asymmetric neck carves which contribute far more to the neck feel than you'd expect from looking at the measurements. If you get a chance I suggest you give them a try. Another suggestion would be a Warwick Stage 1 Streamer Broad Neck...
3. Laklands feel a good bit wider than Sire to me so I'm surprised at those measurements. Fender Roscoe Beck V is the widest I've experienced if you have the reddies...
4.
Hard to say since they have all been available for different times but overall. Recurve and Finn are pretty close. Recurve Classic. Finn Classic Recurve S Type Finn R type. Recurve and derived shapes followed by the Finn and derived shapes.
Krell bound to be pretty high up the list now... and rightly so!
5. A Babicz on an ACG? Different...
6.
Having had the tape measure out... Scale length is 34 inches.
Thank heavens for that... If it had been 35" my wife may have thrown me out!
7.
I had an Ashdown Lomenzo overdrive, it sounded brilliant (at least it did through a tweeterless cab), but it's footprint was a pain. Particularly as I took the chassis off at one point and found the PCBA was only a small proportion of the pedal, and sparsely populated at that - they could easily get it into a small enclosure.
The Ashdown Lomenzo is one of my all time favourite pedals. I've been planning to reverse engineer mine and build a clone in a smaller enclosure for quite a while. It's still on the "to do" list though...
8. Righteous instead of Solid from Billy this time! Very interesting... Is he using a return on the Helix LT as a second input then? He says displaying his complete lack of knowledge on the subject....
9.
Steady on Ian. However would you justify another one ????
I couldn't Mike, but since when did that ever matter!
10. Scale length and string spacing?
11. I see your "I say" and raise you a "Ding dong"!
12. Nice! Gotta ask - what's the nut width? Looks jazz size...
13. If you need more drive than a Darkglass Vintage Ultra the BSF is definitely NOT what you're looking for... The Joyo OJ has MUCH more distortion on tap than the BSF. I'd like to try the Ashdown NM2, but the form factor is a killer for me.
14. The Washburn Idol series (can't recall the model number) with the Seymour Duncans as standard are a great LP style guitar. I was looking at them seriously but bought a spalted maple X50-pro (again with SDs) for the same money. After a good setup and fret polish I've had a few pro-guitar players tell me it's the best dual humbucker guitar they've played below USA PRS money... My brother has it now so it's still in the family. And he plays much better than me!
15.
Yeah very expensive. I'd like to try one though but only if I could stick a GK pickup in it and control synths with it I think the scale length might pose problems though.
Don't see why you couldn't as it's basically the same as sticking a capo on the 12th fret of a standard 5 string. I see Wingbass offer an option to have an EHX Micro POG built into the control cavity... Interesting!
16. I remember watching a guy on an itv talent show playing a bass that looked identical to this. Funk pop type stuff. WAY before even Pop Idle (you may think I've spelled that wrong, but no). If memory serves the entire band wore purple crushed velvet suits...
17. May I ask where you sourced the necks? It seems hard to find 1.75" nut width precision necks!
Really like my Guma Antique, sounds great. I'm imagining the Guma Drive has a bit more top-end content, which might be helpful in some instances.
Bang on. More top end control with the switches on the Guma, more mid range control with the Era control on the Antique. I haven't stacked them... yet.
19. I did something similar a few years back with a guitarist/singer friend of mine. It was easy with just the 2 of us. We just emailed mp3 files of each other's dry tracks back and forth. Converted to WAV and dragged into reaper. It was just a writing effort, not a finished product so quality wasn't the primary concern really...
20. Yup... GAS well and truly stoked... GLWTS

And a bloody nice pic it is too! I'd love this, alas I'm potless...

Different enough. I've built both and prefer the Antique by quite some margin, especially as an always on sound. As an additional layer of drive the Guma works well (hence why I sold my B3K and why I built a Guma - I could justify the price of it for how much I would use it, a B3K not so much!). What I haven't tried yet is stacking the Antique in front of my recently acquired Darkglass Vintage Ultra, using the Antique as another level and perhaps the Guma as a different flavour. How I integrate the greatest of all my DIY drives (modded BJFE Blueberry) is yet to be seen... Could get messy... Finished my Pumpernickel compressor yesterday (hooray!) then forgot to bring it home from work to try (boo!)...
23. I just discovered the spitfire labs stuff (and the William Morris demos) yesterday by chance. Some beautiful sounds! No doubt I'll be purchasing a few of them. Scary strings, plucked grand, kalimba and mini harp for starters...
