What's delivery on the 2 x 10s, by the way, Bigwan?
Alex is quoting July delivery for my 2x10, but I know they're hoping to move premises about then so I'll guess that'll be pushed out to August. Suits me. I'm in no panic!
-
Just imagine it 1/3 the size and that'll be what the 2x10 will look like I expect...
The OBT would be substantially louder. If that matters.
I would think so, it's more the tonal difference I'm wondering about. As it happens I really rate the OTB. There are a few 'cork sniffers' round these parts who wouldn't even give them a chance but they're everything I look for in an amp. Admittedly the form factor isn't ideal though!

WoT, as a matter of interest have you ever tried the Orange Terror? Having tried the Orange and the Genz side by side I much preferred the Orange, but I'd be interested to hear how the WA would sit in that company. I've been talking myself out of a WA for years...
Me neither. In fact the finish of Barefaced's cabs has improved greatly. My second BFM cab was finished in TuffCab, as I believe are Barefaced. A superior cab covering compared with Tolex, vinyl or carpet in my opinion and much quicker to apply initially - if damaged it can be easily touched up with a textured roller in a matter of minutes and off you go.
Yeah the tuffcab looks great. If I were to build another cab it'd definitely be finished with that! But back to the point about guitarists - can anyone think the of a tuffcab finished guitar amp/cab? I can't...
Guitarists are much easier to please I guess.
I think it's they're much more likely to stick to the perceived norm. It's why you get eejits that buy 100 watt valve stacks to play in the bedroom of their terraced house. It's wonderful that they can, but should they?

I built a Dumble clone guitar amp for my brother's 30th birthday a few years back. Took me twice as long to build the cab as it did to build the amp, and longer again to get the vinyl on it. Your 'effort' looks FAR superior to mine (which I'm not going to show after seeing yours!), although I think it was my shoddy woodworking that let me down rather than my present wrapping skills! Having said that the amp sounds AMAZING so the slightly 'homebrew' look doesn't bother anybody who plays it, in the same way what may be perceived as a 'cottage industry' feel to barefaced's finishing doesn't bother me at all.
You can of course have extremely well engineered products, with the best QC/finish/aesthetics available, all in one package. The aesthetics and fit/finish should be the easy bit!
You've never built a cab, have you? The finish is the messy bit! Having tried painting cabs, cloth (rat fur) covering and vinyl/tolex, you couldn't pay me enough to finish a cab for somebody else...
-
No idea Stevie. I've asked Alex just now and I'll let you know. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned mid-June though. I'm in no panic for it!
-
Once again a barefaced cab thread becomes a farce... In other news I've just placed my floating deposit from my cancelled BB2 order on the new 2x10 as sounds like my ideal small cab. First in the queue and I'll hold on to my Orange Terror a while longer...

***WITHDRAWN*** Orange Terror Bass 500 - £300
What would you be looking for in regard to trades?
No trades I'm afraid.
Surprised this is still here, they normally go for about tree fiddy, and that's without the bundled EQ pedal and valves!
Yup, beats me too. Nothing selling these days it would seem. Could have had this sold today if I'd been willing to accept a 'very generous' offer of £200 for my 3rd hand amp... Bump... -
Billy Sheehan Signature Drive pedal alternatives?
Bigwan replied to BassApprentice's topic in Effects
Both the EBS Sheehan and J-lo pedals are based on a bandpass filtered (state-variable filter) and modified tube screamer with a blend tacked on the end for adding the clean signal back in. Apparently they don't sound much alike, but then just look how many different modified tubescreamer designs our guitar playing cousins have the choice of - surely they can't all sound the same... Err... -
A mini 69er! Want!
I always like listening to Billy Sheehan talk about his gear, equipment and general philosophy. I don't always agree with everything he says but he has clearly thought about every aspect of his set up and gear. The fact that he is willing to go into such detail as well always make him a good interview. Also, a lot of stuff seemed to be 'rock solid' in that video.
+1. You won't find many pros so willing to give away the details of their rigs. The fact he's interested in the finer workings of his gear is refreshing from a gear-head's perspective too! And if I gigged as much as Billy Sheehan I'd want to make sure my gear was rock solid too! Anybody else get the impression Mr Kotzen is trying a little too hard to sound like Chris Cornell, or is it just me?

How has this got anywhere near this price with the damage to the neck? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=191157087499&alt=web
Guess I'm going to be the voice of dissention then and probably need to get my flame resistance shorts on The musicians on the Titanic had to remember over 150 songs, any one of which would be requested in the moment. I know Paul McCartney etc had set lists sellotaped to their instruments for this or that performance, but they still had to remember the lyrics, as did everyone, unless they wanted to be seen reading paper on stage. A singer I worked with recently used an iPad for lyrics. Because the lyrics were just listed in successive paragraphs, the singer went from verse two to three, completely missing the bridge of the song, as it wasn't written on her ipad note. If people are using ipads as short cuts for learning songs properly, then subtle nuances and changes in the song from verse to verse could well be missed. Also, if you're paying attention to the ipad, you're not giving your full attention to the performance of your fellow band members, thereby missing the opportunity to react in time to their performance and cues and in turn, provide cues of your own to them. In the end, is the music of your band a living evolving entity from moment to moment, shaped by the musicians on the stage in that moment, or a collective programme of things to do ? Fire away
All problems with the user, not the tool...

***WITHDRAWN*** Orange Terror Bass 500 - £300

My Orange Terror Bass 500 for sale. Great amp (which I recommend at any given opportunity) but I'm not gigging at all at the minute and I'm not likely to be any time soon. In the interests of full disclosure this has been back to Orange for repair of an intermittent fault before I took ownership, but it hasn't given me a minutes trouble. Punchy and LOUD, but can do valvey clean easily with the gain down and volume up. Will include a pair of 12AT7 valves for gain taming purposes and a Harley Benton 7 band graphic bass eq to combat what some see as the 'one trick pony' nature of the amp - I would add that I've never used it as I find the amp's inherent tone rather excellent. Pics here: http://s38.photobucket.com/user/Bigwan2062/library/Rig%20for%20sale £300 plus shipping. ***WITHDRAWN*** Cab is for sale too, but shipping something that size might be a challenge!

Are these "Classic Vibe" in the same way the James Johnston sig is basically a cv jazz? Never really followed the difference between the cv and vm series'...
