Those frets look spotless. You're not playing your bass enough.
That'll probably be a J retro East will it? No routing needed so you can stick the old control plate back if you ever sell it on and it's back to original.
The Audere is even easier. Terminal blocks for the pickup wires to make it a doddle for people like me who are atrocious with a soldering iron.

http://whatconsumer.co.uk/returning-damaged-or-faulty-goods/ Phone the shop. Ask for an immediate refund. If you don't get one, phone your credit card company and tell them that you bought a musical instrument which arrived damaged and which you have returned for a refund, but the shop is refusing to replace. Finally, name and shame.

The Pandora is indeed a fantastic little device. I own a PX3B for bass practice and PX4D for mainly guitar and some bass. I've owed the PX3B for around 10 years now and use it every day. Well worth checking the classifieds and ebay for one.

BASS GUITAR MAGAZINE - Sensible Suggestions Thread
bassbloke replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I'm not at all impressed by BGM. I find it distinctly lacking in real content. However, here are some positive suggestions: Include a CD that covers the material from the technique columns plus backing or rhythm tracks so you can play along, etc... Spend a few pages analysing the style of the cover stars in more detail. Include some articles on being a working/jobbing musician. Cover gig etiquette, band etiquette, tricks of the trade, studio hints Interview a few sessions or professional musicians. Maybe a feature called what's in your gig bag or something where a pro lists the items they really couldn't live without A second hand or used bargains article where they review an unknown gem or other modern classic - there are loads of them. A lot of these articles could easily be incorporated with minimal cost and would flesh out a currrently dull magazine. -

I disagree. On a general level, a few hours spent watching episodes of Tops of the pops from the 70s, 80s and 90s will tell you that crap always has and always will exist. There is a sizeable number of people that aren't particularly discerning in their musical tastes and will always buy crap. I've been gigging, with various degrees of frequency, since 1993. In that time I've been in the position where my playing ability has far exceeded that of people younger and older than me. What I will say is this. Bands nowadays are far more technology and industry savvy than their predecessors. There was a time when the average band didn't have a clue about the recording process and would all club together and rely on a studio and engineer to do it all for them.

When I were a lad and gigging with Dark Heresy I used to have a silly set up. Peavey MkVI head driving a Peavey 15" sub with passive crossover, paired with a Peavey 210TX and a Peavey 410TX running ful range. It was a beast. My next rig was a Peavey 800W power amp driving a Peavey BassFex and I got my hands on a 8Ohm 115BW. I found the best results came from running only low frequencies through the 15 and running the 410TX full range. I always felt that running on top end through the 10s lacked something. Nowadays I just use a 2 x 12 live and let the PA do the hard work. I played the main hall at Farnham maltings with no PA support with a 600W Tech head and cab and blew the walls off the place and the master volume wasn't even half way up.

I know someone that detuned their bassist's entire instrument by a semitone and didn't tell him. Worst thing is that I don't think he noticed.

I can appreciate why the experience with PMT was a downer, but I can't see why you're so hung up over buying a bass that's absolutely pristine. It will get damaged - that much is a certainty, so go second hand and spare yourself the heartbreak when it gets a ding.

Billy Sheehan - Technique with no soul?
I just took a look at the original video, it's just a pair of sad men w*nking guitars IMO.
Utterly pointless comment. -

Clever

They aren't loud pickups. My bass is lower output than a lot of others including standard fender jazz, Warwicks, etc... but as other people have stated - they sound great so I wasn't hugely fussed. What are they like when only a single pickup is soloed?

Is there some local byelaw that requires you to purchase equipment from PMT?
These cabs retailed at £1368 and the Bass Centre sold them at £1100. This cab is now discontinued, so I would strongly urge people to crab this by the nads and buy Chris' cab, 'cause it's a bargain.
Would you trade it for your tech 6 x 10?

Just use an escrow service - much easier.

I bought this bass last September. It's used but in fantastic condition. One small ding near the upper horn and barely noticeable scratches on the back. It's a 2003 US Deluxe Precision in translucent 3 tone sunburst with aged white pickguard. The body is alder. It has an 18v preamp with 3 band EQ, standard p type pickup and double jazz pickup that really adds some bite when used. It's currently strung through body with a little used set of Fender superbass 45 - 110. This bass has a lovely sound I've used it for an evening's recording at a friends and for 1 track at a recent rehearsal before switching back to my main bass and therein lies my problem - I just can't get on with any other bass so they tend to just sit in the case. Bass comes with a Fender moulded hardshell case, truss rod tool and schaller straplocks. I'm looking for £600 and would prefer collection from Chessington, Surrey or could arrange a meet up in central London. I bought an 8 x 10 from a Chinese seller on ebay and it was making a funny noise when it arrived. When I opened it up I found a dozen illegal immigrants inside.

You still haven't answered the question of whether she is fit or not. Personally, I think it makes all the difference.

Maybe they were just simulating felatio with a member of the audience.

Has he shown you the bill? £650 for 3711 units works out at 17p a unit. That's incredibly expensive even for a domestic tariff. My home tariff is around 9p per peak unit and my work pays 7p per minute for peak use. If you want to calculate usage for yourself it's quite easy add up total watts used so 400W for Mesa, 80 or 100 or whatever each for the powerballs, 750 for the power amp and I reckon factor in another 150W for sundries (brain, etc...) I'd assume your dehumidifer is around 250W (400+80+80+750+150+250)/1000 gives you the total in Kw/h # of hours * units * cost per unit tells you what you should be paying

4 pages and no mention of Geezer Butler. Tsk tsk.
