take it you wouldnt be interested in a p/ex for a 2x10 Tech?
Hello, I was never a good salesman. I'm not sure how much more this cab will give you over your existing 210XT. The 12" drivers have a very different character to the 10s and, at lower volumes, the 2 x 12 sounds 'nicer' with more presence and character. However, once you ramp up the volume, the is higher impedance and power handling so sounds much more contained.
i love the look of the cabinets , something kitchy as an old vintage fridge , but i dig a lot. They are larger than conventional simlar 2X12 cabinets or larger than the tecamp production, out of curiosity? Or just an Eye-effect produced by the unconventional Shape? I hope i would get to try one, someday.
They're taller than most other cabinets, but narrower, which actually makes a lot more sense 1) they're easier to get through standard doors 2) The speakers are higher off the floor 3) better sound dispersal (both 12" drivers are vertically aligned) 4) They're easier to fit in a car boot Couple that with the fact that these cabs are unfeasibly light. I've got a photo of OBBM lifting one above his head at a previous Bass Bash. I've got my wife and kids to roadie for me in the past - totally guilt free. I've never seen or tried the new TecAmp gear.

I'm looking to sell some of my Tech Soundsystems gear. [s]1) Tech ND212S, 2 x 12 lightweight cab http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/image...r/popup_212.jpg Excellent condition. I am the 2nd owner and it's done around half a dozen gigs and probably 50 or so rehearsals. Never pushed that hard - never needed to. 600W at 4Ohms, very light and very loud. Reduced to £360. Collection only[/s]. Being sold to Flanker [s]2) Tech Mini15 http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/image...r/popup_115mini Good condition. Some fluffing to the carpet in one small area. It's done 1 gig and a few rehearsals. 400 at 4Ohms. Very, very light at surprising bottom end considering the dimensions. Looking for £300[/s] SOLD to Whynot. 3) Tech TVM350 Head mounted in 3U Stagg bag with quality 1 metre speakon - speakon. http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/images/tvm/tvm_full.jpg Good condition. 350 Watts at 4 Ohms, 420 Watts at 2 Ohms. Solid state head with a very warm, valve-like sound. Passive EQ, bass and treble boost, onboard compressor. NOTE: There is a design flaw with the optical compressor on this range of amp. It introduces a lot of harmonic distortion. TecAmp know and offered to take both my TVM heads back at RRP and sell me a Performer Head instead. I opted to stick with them though. I love the sound fo the amp and the current exchaneg rate put me off. This amp also has a new power supply board. The new board was sourced at considerable expense from TecAmp/Tech. Amp has worked fine since. [s]Reduced to £260.[/s] Collection only. Final price £240 I am selling because I have a Tech ND410S and Tech TVM 600 and a house that is starting to look like a music shop and I have another baby on the way and will be moving soon. So, much as I love this gear, it needs to go.

Go and see your GP. I'm not trying to scare you or anything, but for your finger to hurt like that isn't normal. BTW, I'm writing this as a bloke who never goes to see his GP and has a similar pain in his left index finger after drilling a hole in it some 7 years ago. Clever eh!

I think what you're describing is sympathetic ringing, which is always going to be a bit of problem on a 5 string bass. I just played a couple of lines on my bass (fiver) and I manage to keep it in check through a combination of very subtle damping with the top of my right wrist and left hand muting with the flat of my palm. I don't know whether this is sacrilege, but from the videos I've seen of some of the slap greats (Larry Graham, Louis Johnson), the focus was on the percussive and bouncy quality of the lines not 100% efficient execution and that's what going to be more important for an effective slap line. I don't mean fr one minute to be sloppy, but a little bit of sympathetic ringing will probably get lost in a mix.

So if I drop a set of J pups in a P body with a J neck...

The body on the US deluxe jazz is quite a lot smaller than a standard jazz. -
Very. very nice and has that all important 21st fret too.

5 string Warwick Streamer Stage II... Oh no it isn't
bassbloke replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
You think that's bad? He wants £17.35 for a Ben 10 kid's rucksack. Those frets look spotless. You're not playing your bass enough.
That'll probably be a J retro East will it? No routing needed so you can stick the old control plate back if you ever sell it on and it's back to original.
The Audere is even easier. Terminal blocks for the pickup wires to make it a doddle for people like me who are atrocious with a soldering iron.

http://whatconsumer.co.uk/returning-damaged-or-faulty-goods/ Phone the shop. Ask for an immediate refund. If you don't get one, phone your credit card company and tell them that you bought a musical instrument which arrived damaged and which you have returned for a refund, but the shop is refusing to replace. Finally, name and shame.

The Pandora is indeed a fantastic little device. I own a PX3B for bass practice and PX4D for mainly guitar and some bass. I've owed the PX3B for around 10 years now and use it every day. Well worth checking the classifieds and ebay for one.

BASS GUITAR MAGAZINE - Sensible Suggestions Thread
bassbloke replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I'm not at all impressed by BGM. I find it distinctly lacking in real content. However, here are some positive suggestions: Include a CD that covers the material from the technique columns plus backing or rhythm tracks so you can play along, etc... Spend a few pages analysing the style of the cover stars in more detail. Include some articles on being a working/jobbing musician. Cover gig etiquette, band etiquette, tricks of the trade, studio hints Interview a few sessions or professional musicians. Maybe a feature called what's in your gig bag or something where a pro lists the items they really couldn't live without A second hand or used bargains article where they review an unknown gem or other modern classic - there are loads of them. A lot of these articles could easily be incorporated with minimal cost and would flesh out a currrently dull magazine. -

I disagree. On a general level, a few hours spent watching episodes of Tops of the pops from the 70s, 80s and 90s will tell you that crap always has and always will exist. There is a sizeable number of people that aren't particularly discerning in their musical tastes and will always buy crap. I've been gigging, with various degrees of frequency, since 1993. In that time I've been in the position where my playing ability has far exceeded that of people younger and older than me. What I will say is this. Bands nowadays are far more technology and industry savvy than their predecessors. There was a time when the average band didn't have a clue about the recording process and would all club together and rely on a studio and engineer to do it all for them.

When I were a lad and gigging with Dark Heresy I used to have a silly set up. Peavey MkVI head driving a Peavey 15" sub with passive crossover, paired with a Peavey 210TX and a Peavey 410TX running ful range. It was a beast. My next rig was a Peavey 800W power amp driving a Peavey BassFex and I got my hands on a 8Ohm 115BW. I found the best results came from running only low frequencies through the 15 and running the 410TX full range. I always felt that running on top end through the 10s lacked something. Nowadays I just use a 2 x 12 live and let the PA do the hard work. I played the main hall at Farnham maltings with no PA support with a 600W Tech head and cab and blew the walls off the place and the master volume wasn't even half way up.

I know someone that detuned their bassist's entire instrument by a semitone and didn't tell him. Worst thing is that I don't think he noticed.
