What is your standard gigging set up and sound?
KevB replied to FuNkShUi's topic in General Discussion
For last couple of years it's been US P bass>tuner pedal>Hartke bassattack>Trace Elliot 1x15 combo with SWR 2x10 extension cab. Sticking with that for time being with new band but reintroducing my Roland PK5 pedals through a Roland JV1080 sound module on some new cover songs. -
When you get compliments on your playing
Not sure she was in all honesty.
Was it Kim Deal? -
Put it on hold for 31/2 hours then flog it to someone else.

Been using the design type Gottastopbuyinggear posted for ages, first one lasted 10 years now on my second. They will cope with a curb as long as it's not stupidly deep. Sturdy design. Ones with folding in wheels compact down to smaller size for storage but the wheels will sometimes want to start folding in while in use if you're not careful. -
Been asked many times on here naturally but the basics seems to be keep it simple, relax, prepare but don't tie yourself up with it and mostly have a great time and look forward the second one.

Hello fellow Nottingham dweller. There are actually quite a few Nottm/Derby/Leicester based folks on here. Look in the 'events' section and there is a gathering of midlands based basschatters coming up in May you might want to check out.

Some have also suggested using superglue (let it dry before you start playing though ) to form little patches over your finger ends. I've worked in labs all my life so before we used disposable gloves quite so much you soon built up a resistance in your fingers from contact with all sorts of oragnics, acids etc!

Bought a PA amp from Chris, easy transaction and I even got to see the maestro perfom with his band into the bargain. Top bloke.

Always great to hear again - nearly 43 years later!!

Incidentally, Coverdale has got the rest of the Whitesnake current band to have a go at re recording old DP songs from 'his' era (Burn, Stormbringer, Come Taste The Band). He's doing it as a sort of tribute to Jon Lord but it sounds like abit of a hiding to nothing to me. -
Sorry mate, but I have to disagree. I'm a Machine Head purist, and the Made In Japan version remains a complete abomination.
Not for me, I've always found the studio version of SOTW rather dull and lifeless compared with the MIJ version, that is still my 'definitive' version of the song. I'd take the live vs of Black Night from the same tour over the 'late night after a piss-up' studio version of that too. I'm not generally a fan of live albums either. -
Grammer instead of grammar.
Quite a lot of people use a Gramma to good effect on here though.

Don't look at me, I'll be in Tenerife Might have one the weekend after Easter, depends if the venue in question will have finished the refurb in time.

I tell you, I'm a hair's breadth away from flouncing off, joining facebook and starting my own group for spelling and grammar pedants who also happen to dabble in a bit of bass. Who's with me?

I've said it before but the increase in using 'of' in place of 'have' (when preceded by 'should', 'would' etc) is irritating.
Do away with forum aliases and make avatar a photo I your face and a lot of the animosity (if there is that much) would disappear overnight.
Interesting point. Though I suspect if I were to insert a photo of my face as my avatar most of the current membership would probably disappear overnight...
I'd still have a black one
I still do. Bought it in 2002. I really ought to be thinking about selling it but....nah.
No you haven't mate Remember that one time? *runs away
Now now you promised not to tell. Moderator confidentiality and all that...

I've been here since May 2007 and on bassworld before that for about 2 years and I've always been uninteresting and worthless.

Do you/your band rehearse with full gigging set-up?
KevB replied to Lozz196's topic in General Discussion
It's rehearsal rooms with mirrored ceilings that see all the interesting action anyway. -
I don't use FB and never will. I will always use for a like BC.
Personally I've never signed up to FB or Twitter either but I'm aware that millions have and it's obvious that there is a platform right there for doing all the stuff that established current sites like this and lots of others for a whole range of interets serve. I bet they are a pain to moderate though, almost 'ungovernable' I'd have thought. As I'm not on either I'm not even sure how they are administered, bans dished out etc - anyone?

It's an interesting point made about alternative social media and if it becomes the standard practice in future for like minded folks with common interests to use stuff like facebook groups then ultimately the days of internet fora will be numbered. I think we're a way off that yet though.
Little vid of the standing ovation we got at the end of our Dundee gig. So proud https://www.facebook...&type=2
Going to try to get down to see your show at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham in May. Partial to a bit of Bush now and again.

Also things like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fordex-Group-SR-06-Activated-Patterns/dp/B005ZC5238/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427145456&sr=8-1&keywords=laser+light+show are surprisingly effective for little money

I have one of the original KAM party bars (I think its original anyway) and for pub gigs it's fine. Mine's like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kam-Lighting-Led-Partybar-V2/dp/B00603XK8K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427145238&sr=8-1&keywords=kam+party+bar But they have come down in price, think I paid closer to £180.

Yesterday morning for me. Never been playing at 9am on a Sunday in my life before and hope it doesn't become a regular thing. Four hour session as well and we still didn't play some of the songs on the set list! Possibility of a gig in April and I'm off for a week just before it so we needed to have a more rigorous run through some stuff, got some stuff sorted. Might get one more in before we test the set in front of punters.
