1. Blimey, my heads spinning from this thread!
2. No offence taken! It just irks me when the person who is responsible for what your band sound like, and therefore how your audience hears you, should be made to feel grateful for the privilege That's all another can of worms though... On the gig front have the people in your band, with applicable equipment, got it PAT tested, etc for the gig? There's a great thread about it all on here somwhere and may help you with any nasty surprises.
3.
...He will get a fee, and a meal at the Savoy, drinks and a minibus home, so its not a bad deal for your average Joe...
Not picking a fight here and it's just my opinion but WOW - Very presumptious and rude. I would expect at least all of that on a paying sound gig in town for a band looking to do a really good show for their own gain. Hope it all goes well and wish you all the best.
4. I use a Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ into 2x Barefaced Compacts which are basically the same as your cab (but in 2 pieces!). The sound is immense and exactly as you want.
5. If you're that worried then maybe a once over by a qualified amp tech may be in order.
6. I've seen plated brass ones on Allparts website but maybe worth a phone call to Martin Sims? http://www.simscustom.com/html/home.htm Good luck, Cheers, Jon
7. I used the mighty (!) Survival Studios in North Acton last Friday and got a Behringer BX4500H amp on 2 x Trace 1x15 cabs. In other rooms there I've used either all Behringer stacks or the Marshall VBA amp & 4x12 cab. IMO & E they are all pretty naff sounding in one way or another.
8. I'm not up on what will effect just upper mids & treble but I can highly recommend the MXR M80 DI+ It sits in a band mix very well and there's loads of Rock & Metal players using them...
9.
a lot nicer imo
+1
10. The Clash - London Calling?
11. I'm another that would urge you to seriously look at 2nd hand basses. Some people keep their instruments immaculate so if you're lucky enough it can be like buying a new bass and saving a fair few bob in the process! On that note, an example: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111569
12.
...heres my Frank Bello
Very nice! I had a USA P with the Quarter Pounder P and J Hot Stack in it and it sounded lovely so guess this is the business aswell?
13. My Lakland Bob Glaub US: My Fender CS P/J bass:
14. Trouble is that when you've got the GAS for something in particular then that's it isn't it The DM sig is a really good looking bass IMO and as for overpriced take a look at the cost of the Masterbuilt version - 4,200 Euros Click HERE. Once there click on 'Bass' on the left side , Then select Fender from the 'Basses' dropdown menu and look down the list for it. JTB
15.
...so I respectfully suggest you wind your neck in toot suite.
Quote of the week for me right there! On a more serious note this site has been both help & hindrance when buying & selling things for me GAS is a wicked, wicked thing To the OP - Good luck with your sale and maybe you need to rethink your sale price, etc to make a sale? Regards, Jon
16. Very nice and have a bump on me!
17. What's the chances - I'm working Saturday night and that Zoroastrian centre is only 1/4 mile from my place That building has some minor rock n roll history too. E.g - The Blockheads played there with Paul Fox from the Ruts as a special guest. They also did Stella for £1 a pint on Wednesday nights for local unsigned band night! Have a good one Nige, Cheers, Jon P.S. it's also on the Piccadilly line.
18. I would: Test all the loose cables your going to use, Keep some pretty detailed notes on how everything is setup & set and exact equipment details & settings, Also as mentioned earlier save, save, save/backup, backup, backup, at every opportunity possible. Good luck Chris!
19. That looks lovely and bet it plays & sounds as good as it looks. Imagine a matching Shuker Classic Jazz to go with it... Sorry!
20. What about the Seymour Duncan Jazz Stacks? They're the same size as the original pickups and come in Classic and Hot varieties...
21.
Hi guys.. I'm not english and I came here just 1 month ago.. Can you please suggest me some big websites where I can find second hand instruments? I obviously already know Ebay and Gumtree..and none of these two has loads of stuff.. thanks a lot
Thanks for not replying to to my PM about the band over a week ago...
22.
how much are they? i've only heard good things about them from our american friends
See: http://www.thomann.de/gb/traynor_yba200_2.htm
23.
All of this audio stuff is a compromise, but some things are 'easy wins' or (even more ghastly...) 'low-hanging fruit'... For example sticking your rig as close to the back wall, as near to a corner as possible will considerably improve your output - why would you NOT want to do that? Another example would be using cabs with (ideally) identical drivers closely vertically aligned, which will considerably improve your horizontal dispersion (that's left to right in non-tech speak) - why would you NOT want to do that?
+1
24. Basically non existant as I'm not in a band at the mo
