Yep. MXR know what they're doing octave wise
-
Jason is becoming a favourite seller of mine! He seems to advertise just what I'm after and at a fair price. This time it was a pedal which arrived so fast it nearly burned the postman's fingers. Perfectly packed, exactly as described, just the job. Thank you once again to an excellent Basschatter.

I knew I wanted to try this pedal as soon as I saw it. I've been patient, and waited for a second hand one to pop up. First impression - it's amazing. It's so much more than just an octave pedal. Example; it's a phaser. Subtle and delicate until you punch the mono button when it becomes rich, and gooey. It's a filthy fuzz, if you punch the fuzz button. If you punch both it's a gloriously disgusting phaser. Use the sub 1 and punch mono it's an OC2 type synth. Add fuzz and modulation it's a full on bass synth. Dial in some of the other available octaves (there's 4 and a clean ) and it's a monster synth. Take out the mono and fuzz and it's a much more clean usable mix of octaves. It sounds so very good. Only downside is the crazy bright light rendering the controls virtually invisible. But that's an easy fix. Other than that I cannot find any fault. Its small size is a win when your board groans beneath the weight of pedals, it looks sexy as hell, it doesn't introduce unwanted noise, it's many pedals in one. Well done MXR.

Following an annoying gig where a previously silent pedal board became a noise monster the moment I plugged it into the venue's power, I realised something must be done. I toyed with the EHX Hum Debugger, but unsure whether it was what I needed, I felt the price (and size) made it an expensive gamble. An intensive internet search threw up this and for 12 quid it seemed worth a punt. 2 channels, so in theory double bubble, small, light, no power needed, 1/4" jack sockets - all good right? Well, so far so good. The noise tends only to rear it's ugly head at a gig (s0ds law) so I can't be 100% sure. However, I used my nastiest power supply, cheapest cables and two pedals notorious for adding noise to my chain. Turned the amp up full and used a non humbucking pickup. The noise went. The sound was unaltered. Win... So far.

I haven't taken to editing on the pedal itself very quickly. Other systems have seemed easier to get to grips with. Having said that, I am currently laid low with the lurgy and lacing my shoes seems a deeply complex task at the moment! What I will say is the sound from this unit is phenomenal. The bass presets I installed (thanks to the Widi Jack) sound absolutely incredible, so my inability to grapple with the many, many options isn't hampering my enjoyment at all.

They look really nice.

This Trace Elliot ELF never ceases to amaze me!!!!
stewblack replied to Mike Bungo's topic in Amps and Cabs
The 2 Elf 1 x 10 cabs I use are phenomenally loud, sound amazing, fill the room and keep up with a loud drummer and guitarist. I don't give a rat's for the maths or what you can 'prove' on paper. They're monsters. Oh and I own and regularly gig with Barefaced cabs. These easily hold their own in comparison and are far better made. -
I wondered about that too, but tons of folk have the same issue with the Ampero, and plenty of other pedals connect ok to the pc. I have got the Widi working so I can use my tablet but the alligator is still causing me problems. The computer either doesn't know I've connected anything or it knows but says that the hardware has failed in some way. All sorted now, just a little fiddly at first.

Anyone got one of these able to advise me? Can't connect to my PC so unable to use the software to edit it. Also unable to connect to my tablet (android) via the Widi Jack. Driving me mildly insane having spent two days on this....

I bought an effect pedal from Joe. The entire deal from start to finish was utterly painless. Communication excellent and the well packed parcel arrived extremely quickly. Happy to recommend this most excellent Basschatter 👍

Either can work, both can fail. I've been in both set ups many times. Dictatorship simply depends on who is running the band, how good they are at their job and whether or not the band members respect them. Democracy depends upon the personalities in the band. How well they tolerate each other and whether they want the same thing

When you're as ugly as me you learn not to care

I played @Stub Mandrel's Embassy at the SW Bash recently. It felt beautiful and the finish was really nice. Soundwise it was like my old Thunderbird. And that is a compliment.

Corporate function at a safari park yesterday. All very glitzy and shiny as one might expect. People appeared to like us. Which is nice. I went for medium scale Marooshchick in gold, which I put into my recently acquired Little Bass Thing and two TE Elf 10s. The LBT is actually quite big compared to my Elf but still a perfect match for the Trace cabs. I pulled stupid faces above a gold tie.

Jason just sold me an amp and before I had chance to wonder when it might arrive it was here! Incredible lightning fast service. A totally painless transaction and I'm more than happy to recommend him to the community.

I stand to be corrected of course. But all of my previous experience with this lot suggests we won't enjoy that experience.
