I hope someone does. Stadium Arcadium is one of my favorite albums in recent(erm actually maybe not, it's 8 years old now... scary) years, but the CD/MP3 mastering is awful, just plain awful. There are some really beautiful dynamics on there and it's all lost under a metric tonne of compression.
I'm With You and the Foo Fighters' Wasting Light, whilst being great albums in my opinion, were a perfect guide on what not to do with a compressor. He sucked the living soul from both albums.

looking to get a new cable which should I get
Mornats replied to gavin.bass78's topic in General Discussion
I bought a Planet Waves American Stage cable and could actually hear a difference in clarity over my old Klotz cable. But OBBM comes highly recommended and I'll be getting my next cable from him -
That's very pretty.

Someone had better tell Rick Rubin.

Combos, cabs and speaker sizes - oh my!
Mornats replied to Evil Undead's topic in General Discussion
If I'm practising to a song I sometimes route my PCs sound through my audio interface, fire up an amp sim, plug a bass into the interface and put my headphones on (or I can go out through my monitors if needed). -
It has to be my bass hero Billy Gould of Faith No More for me. It was Billy, Geddy Lee, Gene Simmons and Flea that made me want to play the bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPycFXn0Tv8

Combos, cabs and speaker sizes - oh my!

Hey Evil Undead, did you settle on a new combo or amp/cab in the end? I'm currently selling some gear to fund a MarkBass CMD 121P but I'm open to other suggestions too so was curious as to what you did in the end. -
I know someone who hasn't taken the same bass to a band practice since he joined them... (not me by the way!)

Ooops, sorry, forgot it was a Flash gallery. These should work better than the gallery above. You can click on them and view them full size too (on the Flickr page, click on the 3 horizontal dots on the right hand side which should give you a menu to download/view all sizes). I asked Yamaha themselves on their Facebook page when they posted the video and they said yep, it was a 305 not a 504 as they had posted originally.

Mind you, I'm so used to the lovely larger screen on my Galaxy S2 now.
I think some people are more suited to windows and android based things, and others are more in tune with Apple based things. I can never work windows PC's, or android phones, they just don't seem 'right' to my mind. Apple stuff though just seems intuitive to me. My one brother is totally the opposite and hates Mac's and iPhones.
I've grown up with PCs (despite studying design) so I use one at home but my office is Mac based and I use a MacBook Pro at work. OSX frustrates the hell out of me as I'm so used to Windows (I much prefer Windows 7 over OSX, it just works for me). The MBP is a lovely bit of hardware though. Going strong after 4 years of heavy use. So yeah, I totally agree, Win/Android suits some and iOS/OSX suits others. Neither is a bad choice if it's the one that suits you. I find the usability of OSX quite lacking, others think it's the best OS out there. Switching between them constantly doesn't help though! iTunes however, on any platform, is the work of Satan.

If you could get the Android OS on an iPhone the world would be a happy place

iTunes pissed me off so much that I backed up my iPhone, formatted it, took it into town to CEX, sold it and bought an Android phone. Lovely phone, godawful software.
I have raised that particular thread with them. Its not my place to comment as also just a consumer, but I believe a proper answer may be forthcoming soon...
Worth holding off on buying a CMD 121P? -

I'll be bringing this for sale - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/228770-sgc-nanyo-bass-collection-sb320-fretless-for-sale/ - might even chuck in a small discount for anyone at bash who wants it (If it hasn't sold by then!) -

Nice one, thanks for that! It's a much simpler curve on the EQ than mine and it works (a little cut around 500hz cuts out some mud I find). My problem is reading too much about what to cut and boost and not listening to what I'm recording enough. Oddly enough it's the bass that I still have trouble recording/EQing/mixing despite being a bass player.
-
I plug it into my Guitar Rig Session interface. I'll select instrument level for passive basses and line for active ones. That video was brilliant for both comedy value and simple advice. I tend to put a high pass filter on my bass though. In fact, here's the EQ I usually use for my Overwater Classic J which looks like I'm trying to overcompensate for something that I'm not doing right: That EQ was used for the bass on this track if that helps: https://soundcloud.com/beautiful-skin/gonna-run
