1. maybe your singists coil was overheating?
2. we often joke that our band is like the partrdige family as 3 of the 6 are family members but on the upside if it all works well andit is a really big family you always get a good crowd supporting you at local venues!! good luck with the audition hope it works out ok
3.
We've gone a bit OT here but yes, that guy makes my day. Vive la différence, as the Koreans say. For me, GAS comes from spending too much time on Basschat!
au contraire monsieur sheryl summed it up quite nicely i thought though i do concur i could have picked one of HJ's videos where he shows off his complete rack .... of basses that is
4.
This fella has 'issues', full stop!
i can see no issues at all he could teach mr king a lesson or two about tasteful slapping and he could teach grayson perry a thing or two about tasteful dressing imho ymmv mcton etceteraetcetera
5. Sheryl Crow even sang about it I don't have digital I don't have diddly squat It's not having what you want It's wanting what you've got http://youtu.be/KIYiGA_rIls however...... you can tell by his equipment that this young man has some serious GAS issues http://youtu.be/rNzt3uNEVxU
6. TC without sounding to blunt or personal but at same time not beating about the bush, by your very own admission you say this is about your OCD and having to have everything perfect or you sack it is this with all hobbies or just playing bass? try adjusting your outlook to what you can personally do on a bass and how your style can be unique and develop on what you enjoy and achieve from playing bass because if you try and copy/imitate others chops and technique there will always be someone somewhere who will play you off the stage (usually some japanese teenage girl youtube starlet) copying is always a good starting point for most people - use your OCD in a constructive way and take your dissatisfaction with that technique youve just learned and dissect it and modify it to how you want it and what you think it should sound/play like standards? who sets them and defines them? none of us can achieve perfection but we can all hopefully realise what is an expectable and achievable standard for each of us - maybe a coaching session with a good tutor to give you a brutally honest appraisal of what you could achieve and give you some sort of direction to set you off on that course to achieve it? but most of all stop letting your own ego beat you up into giving up something that you enjoy doing or you wouldnt have taken it up in the first place? once again apologies for the bluntness
7. not mine just sharing https://www.facebook.com/groups/kentmusiciansnoticeboard/
8. i use mine fairly flat (hartke ha2500) - dont use the graphic eq at all is permanently punched out - but use just a slight amount of boost on the low end slope and slight cut on the high end slope to give it a bit of extra oomph on the lows and cut some of the brightness from the top - also use a boss LMB-3 which adds a nice bit of extra colour to the tone - only time i will ever dabble with the eq is if we happen to be in a venue where the bass starts resonating and feeding back and will then try and adjust to compensate if possible
9. my bass cab is from west london too

12.
One day, it'll be Gibson. Perhaps not in my lifetime
the EB's had their moment with glam in the 70s
13. here's idea for next bass bash wear a blindfold and then be handed several basses one at a time and then judge them blind on how they feel/sound
14. this is slowly becoming my main gigging bass - just treated it to a set of wizard thumpers i was lucky enough to find on the sale forum on here i dont tend to view my basses in terms of financial 'worth' i only judge them on how they sound and how they feel they each do a slightly different job and i certainly dont push my cheapie J aside just because some bean-counter says its only worth 20% of the value of my shiny TRB
15. not too shabby considering he does that upside down left handed inside out back to front thing
16.
Aphex Twin. **WARNING - some may find somewhat unsettling**:
you're not kidding - shot in thamesmead wasn't it
17.
I also take a stand for my cabinet, it's built to look like a 4x10 cab (engineers have even asked where I want it mic'ed), folds down flat when not in use and has built in flashing LEDs.
18. shedloads of my current non-steroidal anti-inflammatory of choice a spare shirt (british summertime only)
19. raw grinding thumping mids tsk tsk tsk what about a nice fat low end active clean without clipping drive that shakes the locnuts loose on your subs something like this perhaps similar sort of tone in a rock setting (this is still my all time fave tone) http://youtu.be/Rhf5_tqxatc

24. Christian McBride
25. i do hope youre not afflicted with one of those sort of guitarers who insist on widdling all over the bloody as fast and frantically as possible in every space and opportunity? if you listen to the music and your inner groove tell you that root notes work then root notes it is maybe try listening to the tune and sing along what you would play as a bass line and then develope your root notes into that line given the preferred genres you play, it would be not unreasonable at all to not stray too far from roots and thirds and fifths anyways imho mcton etc
