1.
I've got the Zappa plays Zappa DVD. It's done very, very, well in my opinion. Dweezil really has learnt to reproduce his late Dad.
yes i saw them at RAH - very good facsimile indeed - shame bozzio wasnt playing that night but Napoleon was amazing
 2.
Superb idea! Thanks mate! BTW, was it you who lent me the Zappa interviews in some old mags at the BassBash?
haha i knew you'd be along soon yes twas I - but i didnt lend them i gave them - feel free to pass on freely
 3. as it says here's an opener On Missing Persons, Frank Zappa, and women in rock: Dale Bozzio speaks
 4.
This is where a clenched tense approach to playing kills you...but that would be a MAJOR MAJOR technique shift.

The trick is to completely relax the fretting hand to the extent where I just lay all four fingers across the fretboard and you would be hard pushed to tell what is being fretted.
+1
 5. should read... Harry Styles' hometown named 'least musical' in Britain by lazy journalist
 6. both alternately in rapid succesion in synch with your fingering octaves sort of cross between mosh pit and can-can
 7. you could always distract them with your foot provocatively up on the wedgies
 8. yes i used to play this one too as 'p_im' instead of 'i_im'and they used to cause same problem - not sure what ive done but ive managed to get myt technique somewhere now whereby it is easier to play so much so that i often wonder what all the effort was about i think the key to this type of thing is that it should not be strenuous - imho and from my own experience if you are using too much effort and ending up with a forearm like popeye then it is most likely technique that needs adjusting - the difference in technique is quite subtle for me and i am struggling to put in words exactly what i have done to remedy this but i do know that my technique has changed to make these type of lines more manageable edit - the main thing i can think of is is the mental attitude to the timing - i think that i always used to play this as if i was 'reacting' to the tempo, the mental mindset leaves you feeling like you are constantly just behind the beat and always putting in that extra effort to stay up there on the beat - i do think that i have changed my perception of the timing slightly so that now my thinking part of my brain is trying to be ready in anticipation before the beat so that im there on the beat with minimal effort - i know this sounds a bit vague and tenuous but for me this is the main improvement i have made as my physical playing style hasnt really changed a great deal in the last two years apart from growing slightly more economic

 10.
The bands I've been trying out have been largely posers and very clearly amateurs.
Did you had an audition with Oasis? what sources have you been using for looking for bands? maybe an oblique strategy might lead somewhere interesting
 11.
The only things that need testing are the things that plug into the mains supply. So, amps, wall warts (thorough visual check), any detachable cables, extension leads. Your instrument and speaker cables do not need testing. However, you should certainly look after your speaker cables as a duff one just might cause the destruction of your amplifier.
thanks - just that i think we might be using someone who is a general PAT tester rather than music equipment specific so didnt want them to be blagging that certain items need testing and adding loads of extra unnecessary items to up the invoice
 12. going to slightly hijack this thread from the philosophical debates of the whys and wherefores of PAT testing to the practicalities ive scanned through this thread and the other thread on here from a couple of years back - our band have decided to get this done - i would like some advice please on exactly what types of equipment need to be tested and what doesnt - have searched online and cant find any guidelines regards specific types of equipment my personal guess is that items such as heads and combos and power supply transformers, multibocs and kettle leads all need testing what about low load stuff? would i be correct in guessing that instrument/patch cables dont need testing but maybe speaker cables do because of the load they carry? your input as always is appreciated - hopefully stingraypete and others will be along soon to shed some light ta muchly
 13. dont stand drinks on top of your cab the low end extreme grooviness causes them to slowly vibrate to the edge and fall off all over your pedals

 18.
simple as this, yup.
yup definitely this - you either like or you dont being a miserable old cynic i would go as far as saying im not even prepared to consider investing the time to learn in some circumstances- personallly i cannot stand just about most things that have the 'metal' or 'rap' label attached to it and personal experience tells me is not worth going there to even check it out 99% of the time so why waste the time - i think of it as musical investment versus time management your mileage may vary etc
 19. never really got the ramones (although dont dislike them per se) but the 'being there' apsect is a major factor i believe i dont get over excited by srpingsteens latest material but i still recall with my tape recorder memory every single friggin bar in minute detail of the born to run album from when it was originally released in late 70s and the only reason i dont play my vinyl copy is because i dont have a working turntable at the moment although i dont consider myself a major springsteen fan i would still concede that he deserves his kudos just on the strength of that one album alone - may contain traces of nuts etc
