Although I think he is a damned fine singer, I actually preferred the Doobies pre Michael Macdonald. My fave album of theirs and one I still regularly play, What Were Once Vices are Now Habits.
marvellous album - i remember this getting much airplay on radio caroline
Could it be the Stompin´at the Savoy record with Rufus and Chaka Khan Live from 1983? That is my all time favorite CK record, and it is available on Spotify, at least here in Norway.
thanks - no not this one - more like slow dancin or facts of love not so funky but rockin and grindin oooer missus

well ...after dissing my favourite strings i will let you off for posting this wonderful piece of grooviness i also recall hearing a Rufus/CK track on the wireless a few years ago and cannot remember the name or find it anywhere - was about 8 ish minutes long more rock than funk - think it was a live track but thats all can recall edit - the nearest ive bveen able to find is Egyptian Song from 1977 album Ask Rufus - was a similar sort of style but no strings and much more rocky

im going with Lozz on this one - i wouldnt mind a small wager that the frontsperson of this band is some stroppy little shortarse diva who doesnt like the fact that your vertical excessiveness will distract from their irritatingly indulgent narcissitic exuberance tea and biscuits anyone?

i once bought the CD single of disposable heroes of hiphoprisy Television - does that count?
This is the paradox of the modern world - that nothing is valid unless it is seen through the lens of accepted media. No experience can possibly be valid unless it can be shared with other people and endlessly deconstructed via social media. Which is why I'm starting The Campaign for Real Reality, in which everyone experiences life at first hand - no smartphones, iPads or any other portable devices are allowed and neither is the insidious waste of time that is the public online forum - furthermore, I... ...oh crap.
pics or it never happened

school night charity fundraiser raised over 1000 for NSPCC great sound because of carpet in venue and absolute packed out with acoustic meat dampening - rather good curry too (event was in a large indian resaurant) unfortunately with the starters pakoras and bhajis and stuff i used my fingers instead of knife and fork - even though i thought id wiped my hands clean the residue left on my fingertips proceeded to generate a most unusual sticky/tacky sensation with the strings and i spent most of the gig playing as though i felt as if i had half dried superglue on my finger tips

can put up with crap acoustics and crap venue and crap beer and all manner of other crap things but the one thing that really grips my sh*t is trying to see through a sea of smartphone screens

maybe your singists coil was overheating?

we often joke that our band is like the partrdige family as 3 of the 6 are family members but on the upside if it all works well andit is a really big family you always get a good crowd supporting you at local venues!! good luck with the audition hope it works out ok
We've gone a bit OT here but yes, that guy makes my day. Vive la différence, as the Koreans say. For me, GAS comes from spending too much time on Basschat!
au contraire monsieur sheryl summed it up quite nicely i thought though i do concur i could have picked one of HJ's videos where he shows off his complete rack .... of basses that is

One year of playing review. Thinking if giving up!
steve-bbb replied to Twincam's topic in General Discussion
TC without sounding to blunt or personal but at same time not beating about the bush, by your very own admission you say this is about your OCD and having to have everything perfect or you sack it is this with all hobbies or just playing bass? try adjusting your outlook to what you can personally do on a bass and how your style can be unique and develop on what you enjoy and achieve from playing bass because if you try and copy/imitate others chops and technique there will always be someone somewhere who will play you off the stage (usually some japanese teenage girl youtube starlet) copying is always a good starting point for most people - use your OCD in a constructive way and take your dissatisfaction with that technique youve just learned and dissect it and modify it to how you want it and what you think it should sound/play like standards? who sets them and defines them? none of us can achieve perfection but we can all hopefully realise what is an expectable and achievable standard for each of us - maybe a coaching session with a good tutor to give you a brutally honest appraisal of what you could achieve and give you some sort of direction to set you off on that course to achieve it? but most of all stop letting your own ego beat you up into giving up something that you enjoy doing or you wouldnt have taken it up in the first place? once again apologies for the bluntness -

i use mine fairly flat (hartke ha2500) - dont use the graphic eq at all is permanently punched out - but use just a slight amount of boost on the low end slope and slight cut on the high end slope to give it a bit of extra oomph on the lows and cut some of the brightness from the top - also use a boss LMB-3 which adds a nice bit of extra colour to the tone - only time i will ever dabble with the eq is if we happen to be in a venue where the bass starts resonating and feeding back and will then try and adjust to compensate if possible

my bass cab is from west london too
