Well you're looking at 2 different instruments here. the Streamer is a 'proper' Warwick with associated price tag and quality. (VERY good instruments and pro level quality) Rockbass are a sourced, licenced copy of the Warwicks. So they are not the IMHO the same quality of wood QC finish and components. My advice is look for a 2nd hand Streamer of your choice rather than a new Rockbass (unless that is out of your price range) . The wait will be worth it. 2nd hand values could work in your favour at the min...... Warwickhunt will be along in a min to fill out the details!

I think the most important line on that is..... "the actual location os at the owners discretion" Meaning, put it wherte you like it/want it. there is no right or wrong. If its purely for aesthetics why not put it where they were originally put, below the G string, and use it as a talking point.

LFalex 1.1 has one one these and I've played it...... Very good it is too! I beleive he will be able to tell you all you need to know.....!

Nearly all polishes contain a mild abrasive so dont be put off by Autoglym. It would be an excellent 'rejuvenator' polish. if they dont have a mild abrasvie then they havve silicon- as you've seen above not such a good thing on basses.... If you want to know how good autoglym is, PM kennyrodg who has the Ibanez that I .....ermm, renovated.... It was dull and matted when I got it. Its shiny and happy now! Bob.

Martyn, Welcome and..... I think.... Dont expect a Sei for £50 and you'll be OK.....! Seriously, if you just want it for a noodle and youre not a perfectionist it'll be OK, if you want anymore than that or you like a specific or really trimmed down action, look elsewhere (and maybe dig a bit deeper into them pockets!). It'd help us tremendoulsy if you'd take a few mins to fill in your profile and do a quick hello on the intro's thread too!

Indeed it do! Oh its pretty simple to operate and understand too, very useful for tempremental guitarists!

The 5 way switch, flicks between combinations of the coils of the pick ups. so 1. (full forward) neck pup only 2. mix of neck pup and bridge pup (biased towards neck) 3. Both pups full on 4. mix of both biased towards bridge 5. Bridge up only. knobs from front (neck) to back (bridge)- Volume. (next 3 are w 3 band EQ)so... Bass mid treble Will that do?

I'd say its all between your ears..... more likely to be a (subtle) string spacing difference, that your fingers arent quite used to yet.....

Mark, is tis a new set of strings by chance? I had a set of Rotos do that to me and after a few weeks they settled down and I had to re set the intonation. Have you got any of the cotton binding between the string and the saddle?

I recomend a Boss Micro Br.... All you need is there. He can record, overdub, convert to MP3 and send it to you. I do this with basslines for my guitarist!

For what they cost you will be hard pushed to beat cables made by our own OBBM. he uses top components by Neutrik and Van Damme. These are music and TV industry standard parts and are probably the best VFM you can get. FYI my guitarist has a Whirlwind lead (cost him £35 odd squids several years ago) He was gutted when I gave him my Neutrick and Klotz lead to use (about £8 all up) as it sounds just as good if not better than the Whirlwind. If you want to spend lots on a lead, thats entirely your own choice. Will it be any better in sound quality and durablity/reliability than one made of good components? I seriously doubt it.

From my "pimp my axe" perspective, it depends on what the bass is in the first place. If it made of good wood and the neck body join is good, then you can spend whatever you like on the other components. Some come with all good components, some with some good stuff and some cost cutting parts. some come equipped with a load of shonky crap and you can make the other resultant parts into a pretty damn good guitar. Having just binned all the parts on a Highway One P bass (very nice US body and neck) and replaced them with top quality parts, I can state that it can make a huge difference to the resultant instrument in both handling and sound. My first bass (a Yamaha) was fitted out with some right shonky parts, to keep its cost down. The neck was great and the body although of basswood was nicely made. With some proper components on it, it transformed it completely. So which parts are the most important? I'd say the body and neck, as all lthe other parts are easily upgradeable.
