1. Velly intellesting! I think they look awesome - almost `Wal-ish' as Bigwan noted (check out the bridge - a Dingwalled Wal!) and the overall shape/styling is similar to the Wals - definitely interested in trying them out! From what I've read, I don't think Martin is concerned with huge sales - its more of a passion thing as the rest of his business (Sims Custom shop) appears to be doing well. Nick
2. Allo Son! Good to have you here! And great to see you the other day! Get some pics of that thar JD* up on the Porn area! The Look East feature is on tomorrow nite (Friday!). * Paul's JD is the dogs bollocks!!! Just like #00002

4.
Hi I gigged it for the first time on Sunday, I planned to use it for the first set only however it was so comfortable i used it for the whole gig without any thought of the different neck shape, something i have previously found a challenge due to playing one main bass live for 15 years! The only thing that requires work are the eq settings, The bass sounded great by itself however lost a lot of tone when the band kicked in, but my eq is set for another bass and i will tweak over the next few gigs till its sorted! I love it and cant put it down Dave
Nice one Dave - glad to hear its working out mate!
5.
errr.... cancel the above - broke my feckin' arm yesterday! Going to try to honour my existing commitments by playing bass using a keyboard (with my right hand ) - does anyone out there have any experience / success in doing the same? Be great to hear what gear you used and how you got on etc. Many thanks.
Sorry to hear that - my worst nightmare! I use a set of Roland bass pedals (PK-5 pedalboard) - only for simple root note stuff tho. Hope it heals safely and as quickly as poss. Nick
6. Price pleeeeeeeeessseee!
7. Mmmmmm!!!! Tasteeee!!!! PM on its way! Nick
8. Liking that thar 2-Tek bridge...! Not 100% on the block markers but hey!
9.
Apart from Nick, none of us are good enough, Marcus....! Good luck in your search though.
Aww! Thanks m8. Nick * *head stuck in door, garage door!
10. Marcus! If you need any help, get in touch mate! Might be able to help out whilst you find a permanent member! Nick
11. I've got the `J' bass version and its superb. Very well made and setup. Can't comment on the SX as I've never seen one but the fit and finish on these Bass Collections is very good. Nick
12. PM on its way.
13.
Bollocks to a Status neck mate, the birdseye maple is the only reason I would buy this bass because it looks so damn sexy
The neck is awesome - the wood looks like its 300 years old - almost like a real old Strad stt st strad iv - you know, one of dem posh violins!
14. Nice one Jamie!! Good to meet you yesterday! Nick
15. Just to add, this bass is *certainly worth £350 if not slightly more - the build quality is easily on a par with an EB. * in my most and very humble opinion as a full-time pro bassist and collector!
16. Jamie is a great bloke! Lovin' that Porsche (I 'ad a 944 years ago!). Seriously, very nice chap and a pleasure doing business - those bricks look great with me Gnomes!
17.
Wait 'til he gets home and discovers I loaded the flight case with bricks instead of the 'Ray! Tee hee!!! Seriously, top bloke!
..they do however add something special to my rockery!! Cheers Jamie!!!!
18. Tis probably my fault...!
19.
Sold! Pending the usual brown paper envelope doobries! Actually sold via PM within 5 minutes... is this a BC record?
Thanks mate - see you next week!!! Nick (back up to 57 basses now!)
20. ....Mark King hates me!
21.
Hey, I'm having that played at my do when I go too....hope I can manage to book a decent PA because I'm not having it go through the system at our crematorium! It has that effect on me too, every time. Genius.
It makes me well up everytime I hear the end section, after `farewell, farewell' where it builds and builds! I think the system at our crem is one of those old `falcon' cassette players with some wuff series speakers which of course, would be floored by Awaken! I know its a morbid subject to a lot of people but I actually `died' aged 16 - I have a serious nut allergy and during a very severe allergic reaction, I recall floating off somewhere - it felt amazing on the way there - but I came back very suddenly when the doctor pumped me with the syringe - what a bastard, I was enjoying the ride off the planet! Don't want to go just yet (more basses to buy!!) but its not the end, as far as I can tell!
22.
Sad git here ..... I can remember when that amp was released!!! It was part of the Mark V range, and that came out around the time I first starting lusting after Trace amps. That era for Trace was amazing, some of the best amps I've ever heard.
Me too! I had a classic rig back in the old days, AH250, 4 x 10, 1 x 15 and a Bright box - loved it!
23. Just to add, I did not plug the bass in whilst at Dave's, but played acoustically*, it really rings out - very easy to play! * if it sings on its own, it will sing thru an amp! (my belief when playing sans amp!).
