1. I won a set and put them to one side, then while my Jazz bass was out of action I needed to use my 62 P for a gig. It had flats on which weren't suitable for the music being played so I put the Elixir on and was really impressed soundness & feel. Going to try them on my Jazz now it's up and running again. Thanks to Ped & all involved
2. Kolstein Heritage or Zyex light
3. Bump for an amazing instrument! I've got one, bought as a back up for when I play upright but these versatile basses can cover all styles & sounds
4. This could be the answer if you make some enquiries first. It looks like the same construction as Stentor Student 1950 model I recommended earlier http://tinyurl.com/pv4ptjp I've owned over 20 double basses, don't overlook this because it's inexpensive! https://youtu.be/4DFlTWfYF1A An old thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/216686-stentor-1950-student-model/
5. Having been to Gear4music and seen their starter basses I wouldn't recommend one to anyone. Stentor do a nice student bass, I picked one s/h and with a bit of work to the bridge and some decent strings it plays and sounds great. https://youtu.be/4DFlTWfYF1A
6. Here's my Rob Allen Mouse 30 5
7.
Hello! I've alway been curious about those cabs... no trades, right?
What ya got to trade?
8. This superb instrument is a real bargain, with gig bag and Full Circle would be closer to £4k new!
9. Welcome to the darkside Gareth. Might help to know a bit about the incoming bass, if it's pre loved maybe the previous owner could advise what they settled on, if any. And pics of the bridge / wing slots with width of the slots would be useful. Either a Bassmax or Shadow SH950 would be good for starters, both thicker than the Underwood and Planet Wing. Enjoy your new bass.

11. Where are you? I'm in North Yorkshire I'm experienced with SLB's & could set it up for you and advise how to get the best out of it with strings & pickups etc.
12.
Love it! And really loving my Deep 5 https://www.youtube....h?v=i6kNTPAHVb8
I bet you are - the big Daddy!
13. If you could ship it or meet up somehow I'd have it Chris.
14. Nearly 50 years playing bass I've found an instrument that should last me another 50 I can't put it down! I need to practice it though because it's got a high C string and my old brain thinks I've got a 5 string with a low B It's gorgeous, it weighs nothing, it balances perfectly on my leg without a strap, it's easy on my knackered old left hand. Apart from all that it sounds amazing! Wish I'd had one 50 years ago.
15. I had the same problem on the Steiney with the inner core pulling through and ruining a £40 set of T.I.'s, the solution is to leave as tight a coil of extra string length as poss which looks a bit silly but works.
16. Thanks Duncan The Steinberger will accept normal strings or double ball. Thought about selling the L2 now I've got the Mouse, but I use it as a backup bass when taking the upright out, it's so portable.
17. Anyone experienced either or both Labella S660 or Status Black Nylon Hand Wound double ball type for Steinberger fretless or similar? I've got La Bella 760N on my Rob Allen and quite like them so thought I might replace the S500l's on my L2 with black nylons.

19. Lovely to meet up with Sarah again when I drove down to South Wales to collect a bass from ThePapabull and deliver a combo to Sarah, who put me up for the night. Hope you love the amp Sarah and thanks for the hospitality, the bacon butty breakfast set me up for the 5 hour drive home X
20. Had the pleasure of meeting paul and his lovely wife on Wednesday when I drove down to Newport to collect the Rob Allen Mose he sold me. Met up at Paul's home with Sarah Thomas and we were welcomed with tea and biscuits and invited up to his amazing studio. Handed over a few crinkly fivers and I'm now the proud owner of a beautiful instrument. Thanks Paul, hope you enjoy your MB2 as much as I'm enjoying the Mouse
21. I've just got a Rob Allen Mouse 30 5 with a high C & I'm loving it! Strings are La Bella Deep Talkin 760N Early days yet but I can't put it down. Picked it up Wednesday from ThePapabull and done 2 gigs on it already and played it a few hours today, prob another hour or so tonight with Phil Jones headphones. I was concerned about the narrow string spacing but I'm getting used to it. And the C string sounds sweet and musical, prob due to the shorter scale. Anyway time for another noodle on it.
