2. I tried TI flats on my fretless Wal, they felt nice but killed the sound. It's come alive again with GHS Pressurewounds
3. Any fretless Status owners out there? I'd like to know how they sound. Or can anyone recommend any recordings or youtube. I can only find this vid https://youtu.be/8UnhKyVahF4
4. I've got a little used Acoustic Image Ten2 Combo that I might let go. Comes with the gig bag. Also a PJB Superflightcase but that doesn't have XLR input. I use a Wilson K4 on my Clifton bass straight into both amps, sounds great without any external pre amp
5. I've got both the XT and Synapse cases, I could measure them tomorrow if that helps

9. So who's coming? And what would you like to see bass wise? I might just take my Fender Jazz and an upright but can take a fretless or EUB if there's any interest.
10. Get a bottle of surgical spirit and keep dabbing some on your fingers where they come into contact with the strings. Start using it before the heavy gig. Works every time for me if I have a lay off.
11.
Do you ever book out of area bands at all? I've been looking into possibly getting my Blues band some Jazz and Blues festival booking a bit further afield.
We have in the past occasionally other bands on but at the moment we're struggling to keep the gigs going.
12. I also won a set, which was a complete surprise when postman Pat rang the doorbell. Not sure which bass to try them on first, maybe my fretless p bass?

16. Thanks It would benefit our jazz club as our piano player is struggling to carry his own keyboard everywhere.

18. And here is an Eminence bowed http://youtu.be/QqtOOpir9vQ
19. I've posted this before but this guy Max used Kolstein Heritage strings with a full circle i.i.r.c. His Yammy sounds better than a lot of real basses that I've heard http://youtu.be/5NXWMAC6rcI
20.
Hi Mr Bassman. I am used to playing a real DB. I tried a NS Design and hated it. No heel reference etc, but looking at The Yamaha, it has a traditional neck and heel. I didn't know you could change the pickup in the Yamaha. I would like a jazz sound as close to a real DB as possible. Any string recommendations?
The Yamaha SLB200 has a slightly thinner / shorter neck & string length to the SLB100 Depends what sort of sound you're after, I've tried countless pickups & strings on both models. Kolstein Heritage strings work well for me playing jazz Pickups I've tried don't suit both models equally. The full circle didn't do it for me on the 100 but sounds good on the 200. Underwood works well on both but you'll probably need a buffer preamp depending on what you plug into. The Shadow SH950 works well, sounds darker and doesn't need a preamp. Gage realist won't fit unless you get the cello version. All the single sided wing slot types are unbalanced unless you fit two. The Wilson K4 which sounds amazing on my Mo Clifton doesn't shine on the SLB100, I've not tried it on a 200 as I don't have one anymore. Mag pickups are another option. As for playability out of all the different models I've owned or played the SLB100 feels the closest to a real bass, the neck is lovely, it balances really well, just sits there, but it's quite heavy and getting the sound right can be a challenge. Every other one I've played has issues with spinning or just not feeling right, apart from my Clifton, which I'm playing seated now. It's the best sounding solid EUB I've come across. It's not the best looking but it ticks more boxes and gets more compliments on the sound than any other I've had.
21. If you're used to playing a real double bass the Yammy will feel more familiar. I personally prefer models with upper bout extensions i.e. Sb100 / 200 / Clifton. You might have to experiment with pick-ups and strings depending on what sound you want to achieve.
