5.
Hi Keith That's be great, thanks very much! The Spiros will definitely be for sale. The speaking length of the strings is fine and they stay in tune well, but the silks are fuzzy and there's some loose tape up around the top end on a couple of the strings. Not really sure what to ask, but maybe we could PM about that? Cheers Gareth
As soon as I find the Honey D I'll post it on. (I've put it somewhere safe!)
 6.
Hello all General bit of advice please, from those more versed in the dark art of upright than my nascent fublings.... I was using Silver Slaps on my Aria EUB and absolutely loved the tone, feel and tension of those strings. However, the BSX 5 string I've just taken delivery off came strung with Spirocore Weich, which while quite nice don't have the same "grip" under the finger and also have a higher tension. Due to the small body, the tailpiece is much closer to the bridge, even though the scale is 41.5", and as such the BSX uses 1/2 scale strings for EADG and a 3/4 scale string for the low B (this string is furthest from the nut, above the E and A tuners). Innovation don't make Silver Slap in a 1/2 scale (yes, I have asked) and I'm pretty sure a custom Silver Slap low B would be too floppy and unarticulate, so since they also have a synthetic core I was wondering if a set of Innovation Honeys would be a suitable halfway house between Silver Slaps and Spiro Weich in terms of tension? Or is there anything else out there that can give me "grip" and low tension in a 1/2 scale? Cheers Gareth Hi Gareth, My Kolstein takes 1/2 scale I ordered a 1/2 sized Honey D to try out which didn't suit it. You can have it to try out if you want to. Let me know if and when the spiro's are for sale. 'best Keith
7.
Finally got around to making a quick pizz. demo: Douglas. P.S. Sorry Keith, not particularly interested in trades.
No worries what a great sounding bass!
 8.
I had a budget of £8500 when I bought this bass, but felt the Bryant offered as good a sound as anything I tried. Sure, a couple of basses I played may have been cosmetically superior, but the Bryant won the prize for sound! Amazing value, for sure. Why am I selling? As my playing style has evolved, I am finding that the Bryant is just too big a bass for my needs. It is a big sounding orchestral bass when bowed, and has that Ray Brown thing in abundance when plucked (it's an *amazing* bass for walking), but that doesn't really fit my needs any more. I play a lot of quieter chamber stuff, and I'm looking to get a more bass more suited to that. If I had the money, I'd keep the Bryant. I'm sure this will be perfect for someone.
Hi Douglas, would you be interested in trades? c1900 German flatback A Wal Midi Bass or a Wal 5 fretless? cheers Keith
 9. Well done Clarky! And how are the fingers today?
 10.
Thinking I might sell my Kolstein as I'm not playing it as much as I thought I would, due to a change in circumstances. (not transporting a keyboard player and his gear + p.a. and my stuff as often as I used to) If you fancy a day return to North Yorkshire you're welcome to come and try it. Sometimes there are cheap deals on the train to York or Leeds, or if you want to drive it's do-able in a day, or you could stay over and we could have a bass party!
Sorry Clarky, just played my Kolstein for an hour or so and decided to hang on to it. Good luck with your search, If you are lucky enough to find one over here you won't regret it!
 11.
especially if the electronics are buggered
probably just needs a new battery even a Wal distorts with a flat batt!

 17. You're only a few miles away from me if ya fancy coming over for a pick up a / session sometime
 18. I've got a Full Circle on Dave Swift's recommendation, I fitted one to the Kolstein Travel Bass I bought from him and it suits it well. I tried the F.C. on my Yamaha SLB100 & 200 & wasn't impressed on either. Underwoods seem to work on any bass with a buffer pre-amp and are easier to fit unless you already have adjusters fitted.
 19.
The serial number on the bolt on neck plate is W3072 The serial number on the electronics back plate cover is W2981 and is dated Nov ' 87 and has been signed off by Ian Waller himself.
I also own a Wal with two serial numbers It's a 5 string fretless, but on that database it's listed as a 4 string fretted. Another Wal mystery! But I don't give a "monkeys", it doesn't affect the sound, playability or looks, and I haven't lost any sleep over it yet in the 20 years I've owned it! Good luck with the sale
 20. Just met up with Steve today to hand over some amplification that he paid me for in advance. Nice chap, the missus took a shine to him too! Thanks Steve, hope the gear does what you want it to! Keith
